Someone mentioned in a different video that Emily is an older Blair Waldorf and I just can’t unsee this now. A lot more class than Blair as one would expect to come with growing older but Blair nonetheless.
Emily knows she can't afford to make a scene in front of everybody.... like the good old Violet Crawley (Downton Abbey) said: _The presence of strangers is the only guarantee of good behavior._
Shira’s friends heard Emily say “problem” and they just left 😂 they knew better. It’s characters like Emily that make me wish I could come up with such comeback lines that quickly.
Emily Gilmore is my favorite character in the series. Kelly Bishop nailed the part; so complex. She can go from arrogant to vulnerable in a split second. What an actress.
Emily was the lesser of the two elder Gilmore's, because they wrote her to be hated by Laurelai. But by gosh, Kelly Bishop seriously pushes through that contrivance here to demonstrate how much she loves her family.
While I love Emily in this scene, Shira wasn’t the real villain at that dinner. It was Logan’s grandpa who was the real a** and he’s the one who really needed to be told off. Mitchum was second with his fake offer to help Rory just to crush her and then Shira was third with her stuck up attitude ( when she doesn’t have money of her own and wouldn’t have anything at all if it weren’t for Mitchum).
Emily Gilmore... though she may be the Bane of her daughters existence is with out a doubt the Classist B.A.M.F I've ever seen! Edit: 5 years later this still holds up

I love Emily. She gave Shira a much needed smack down.
You wanna talk about female rage? THIS is the ultimate female rage example.
This has to be my favourite moment out of the series.
THIS. THIS is what Emily Gilmore does well-- she PROTECTS her family even if she had to bring up Shira's "lucky" past. Now we all know to never mess with one Emily Gilmore. Period
"Confronts" Shira is a bit of an understatement! :D Emily swallowed the pretetious, toxic gold digger and spit her back out without causing any scene whatsoever! With that talent to unmask your opponent in a clear, argumentative style while keeping your cool + class, imagine what a lawyer Emily Gilmore would've made!
The savagery in this scene is unparalleled
So loved Emily in this moment 💜 Logan's mom was just asking for it !
Emily reading this woman to filth never gets old 👏🏾
Go Emily! This scene was classic. Don't mess with the bull or you'll get the horns.
I've seen fatalities less violent than this
Legend has it that Shira is still recovering from that 3rd degree burn 😎
She's definitely one of my favorite actors/actresses on this entire show. I mean damn she's good!
love this scene! she told her!
Emily is *SAVAGE* she straight up *ROASTED* Shira Huntz- *BURGER* 😂
Sorry I couldn't resist!
not the burger 💀💀
That's the way to put someone on his place with class and low key!
Emily is pure class. She’s my favourite Gilmore Girl!
Shira’s friends heard Emily say “problem” and they just left 😂 they knew better.
It’s characters like Emily that make me wish I could come up with such comeback lines that quickly.
Presenting Emily Gilmore, the unsung queen of Gilmore Girls, also the first mean girl and sass queen
Emily Gilmore is my favorite character in the series. Kelly Bishop nailed the part; so complex. She can go from arrogant to vulnerable in a split second. What an actress.
the way that she handled that, said what needed to be said, AND STAYED CLASSY biggggg purrrrr
This is the dream... I know it's writing, acting, etc. But when every element fits... ❤
This was the exact moment that Emily became Heisenberg.
Emily has always been my favorite character. Kelly Bishop is a gem.
Emily took her down and the smile never left her face.
That was a BRUTAL dressing down. 10/10
The composer, the delivery, and that wave at the end...enough to make Julia Sugarbaker proud!!! X)
she ate her up and left no crumbs 💅
the best scene of the show UGH her mind
I think this is my favorite scene in the whole series ❤️
kinda an insult
Emily was the lesser of the two elder Gilmore's, because they wrote her to be hated by Laurelai. But by gosh, Kelly Bishop seriously pushes through that contrivance here to demonstrate how much she loves her family.
Watching in 2022, and still as iconic as the first time I saw it 👑.
Hands down one of my favourite moments in the show!
i love grandam's. all grandmas, they are bad ass, to me, they know everything, and they enunciate their hate so eloquently.
I just watched this episode on Netflix today and TH-cam recommended to me this now. OKAY.
THAT SCENE IS TOP 5 TV HISTORY !! AND ALL SMILES !! AND ME I LOVE EMILY'S CHARACTER !! THE FAMILY'S HAPPINESS COMES FIRST !! AND I RESPECT THAT !!
This was the best scene in the entire series!!!!!
Hands down one of my favorite Emily moments
While I love Emily in this scene, Shira wasn’t the real villain at that dinner. It was Logan’s grandpa who was the real a** and he’s the one who really needed to be told off. Mitchum was second with his fake offer to help Rory just to crush her and then Shira was third with her stuck up attitude ( when she doesn’t have money of her own and wouldn’t have anything at all if it weren’t for Mitchum).
Emily Gilmore... though she may be the Bane of her daughters existence is with out a doubt the Classist B.A.M.F I've ever seen!
Edit: 5 years later this still holds up
Alex Davis what's a BAMF
Don’t matter if you they are richer than the Gilmores, NEVER mess with Emily Gilmore in any case or situation
