    Nice Video! Just One thing, I believe SWR also runs a depot at Clapham Junction, but other than that it's a neat video!

      SWR have the shittiest service in the SW London area, especially the Hounslow line. Services have been severely cut.

      @@Dean0G the on time score for me was 16% in January. And SWR insist that’s fine and also say they haven’t cut services. Completely and utterly useless

    Prior to Covid, a few trains a day went to Bristol Temple Meads from Waterloo.

    Just so you know, Reading trains do not call at Vauxhall

      Some Reading trains do call at Vauxhall and some do call at Puntey as well.

      ​@@A-Trainspotter-From-Berkshire....no Reading trains call at Vauxhall...ever, and very few stop at Putney. I think you're getting mixed up with Windsor & Eton Riverside trains - which stop at both Vauxhall and Putney
      The two main stopping points before Reading trains reach Twickenham, are Clapham Junction and Richmond.

    Thanks for this comprehensive overview but one minor correction... it's *Salisbury* (pronounced Saulsbury), not Sailsbury. Keep up the good work!

      Not the only mispronunction (see the Hounslow to Weymouth service), but they are a lot of difficult to pronounce places in the UK so it's bound to happen. Especially with all the work that goes into making this sort of video.

      Haslemere is also pronounced "Hazelmere" not "Hasselmere"

      A few spelling mistakes as well. Like "Upway" being Upwey, "Sailsbury" being Salisbury, "Guildford" being Guilford, "Ashhurst New Forest" being Ashurst New Forest, and "Siemans" being Siemens.

    Portsmouth to Southampton is via Fareham. You said Farnham :)
    Also Fratton isn't 'just outside Portsmouth'. It's right in the middle of Portsmouth.

    There used to be a service from Bristol Temple Meads via Keynsham, Oldfield Park, Bath Spa, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Westbury and beyond.

    Living around Salisbury knows Gillingham Dorset is pronounced with a hard G not a J pronunciation and it's Salisbury not sailsbury. But this video has come at a great time for me as I'm currently revising for my interview at swr so thank you for this video, it's great and a great help

      His pronunciations are always terrible. It would take 2 secs to Google the ones he's not sure about. I don't know how he lives in the UK and hasn't heard of all these places (like "SaILSbury", that he butchers!

    The network pattern was rather unrealistic. No express services stop at Vauxhall and there's are more services that run to Woking and Farnham and Alton via Feltham and Addlestone. But still great video. Ps there's a depot at Clapham Junction

      @@marcusrashid the problem is that Vauxhall doesn't have the capacity for this. In the peak, you have 21 trains on the fast line going into Waterloo. If they would call at Vauxhall, you'll end up with a gigantic traffic jam on the fast lines. They don't call at Clapham during the AM and PM peak for the same reason.

    There are a few mistakes on the numbers at 6:06. SWR didn't start on 2007, they started 2017.

      Yes, presumably South West Railways start date should be 2017 (not 2007 as shown)
      And in the commentary Ashley says that Network South East operated from 1986 (not 1996 as shown)
      And presumably the privatised start date should be 1994 (not 1996 as shown)

    You missed out the depot at Staines, you missed out the SWR salisbury to Reading services and the SWR services which run via the district line.

      @@danielwalls5150 There is a depot in Staines. It is technically got something called a Carriage Sidings, the sidings each can hold up to an 8 coach train and there is four of them.

    South Western Railway have promised their passengers about introducing the new Class 701 Arterios but it seems that these new trains aren’t in service yet.
    And it looks like that the new trains will not enter service until the end of the year. As it was suppose to of entered service last year.

      The 701s are currently all being stored at the Long Marston site in Warwickshire! Many of us saw them idling there when we went to RailLive 2023 last week.
      My understanding is that the reason they're not in service yet is a disagreement of some sort with the ASLEF union, though I was half-asleep when I heard that, so it may be incorrect.

      @@mastertrams There has been some issues with ASLE&F. Our Company Council had their work cut out to get things resolved (most of the issues were Alstom more than the Union). I think now though it is just waiting for the timetable change before they start running & the remaining 707s will head over to South Eastern, the 458s will then possibly get their rebuild back to 4-car express stock & the withdrawal of the the 455s.

      @@A-Trainspotter-From-BerkshireIndeed. But I still don’t know why it got so held up despite Covid-19. And it’s been like 3 years since the Class 701 were first built and I think that South Western Railway will introduce the Class 701 in service by the end of 2023.

    I'm pretty sure there are also some services that run slow between at least Basingstoke and Woking and then run fast up to Waterloo, though that might be some weird peak-time stuff or a weird delayed service.
    I also thought that SWR has some three-car 158s in operation along with their 159s, though I might be misremembering that.

      That service you're on about is the Portsmouth via Basingstoke route, runs non stop to Woking, and calls at all stations after towards Portsmouth.
      Regarding the 158s, they are 2-car units designated 158/8s, but SWT took over 8x 3-car 158s which have been reclassified as 159/1s, of which 7 are currently in service with SWR alongside the original 22x 159/0s

      Right, gotcha. It's just that all the slow trains from Woking are graphed as terminating at Basingstoke, so I suppose I got a bit confused.
      And yeah, the reclassing of 3-car 158s into 159/1s makes sense.

      Ashley's video also left out Brookwood on the Alton services, but in reality they do stop there, occasionally coupled with the Basingstoke trains between Woking and London.

      @@LondonTransportMaster Wat-PMH via EGH run fast to Woking, then Farnborough, Fleet , Basingstoke, Micheldever, Winchester, Eastleigh, then all stops to PMH. They are 1TXX reporting codes.

      They use to run from London/Brighton to Paignton and Penzance under South West Trains in the past , Currently it seems rather pointless for SWR to run to Penzance conciering GWR already run local and inter-city service from Exeter as well as a number of Cross Country going there, plus if SWR did a London-Penzance it would take more than 6 hours compared to GWR 5 hours or less.

    You keep saying Salisbury incorrectly, you also have it spelt incorrectly. You have it spelt as Sa(i)(l)sbury whereas it is spelt Sa(l)(i)sbury. It is also pronounced as 'Soulsbury'. The video is great, it just had me screaming at my screen the entire time.

      Major stations are generally managed by Network Rail ... that includes most London terminus stations along with a small number of other key stations like Leeds, Birmingham New Street etc.
