hello! I started my own series and you can now read it on my tumblr and webtoon! :3 www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/hybrid-heroes/list?title_no=910965 www.tumblr.com/hybridheroes
Tessa W lin manuel miranda agrees to make it a movie if everyone is played by latino and darker skinned poeple so hopefully it will happen and else i have to wait till 2019 for hamilton ( i live in the netherlands ) :)
Monochrome Color what's it like in his shoes? Well Burr if you have to know, his father left the family once they (James, Hamilton's brother, and Alex) were old enough to work, his mother died while he survived with the same sickness, his next guardian, Peter who was his family, committed suicide and his will said nothing about Hamilton and James so they both got separated because they went to different people. Where he lived got hit by a hurricane, flood and a earthquake and at a young age he had to see many dead bodies after it was all over. He finally got out of that place and off to New York from everyone pitching in where he lived. Tried to get into Princeton but failed so had to go to King instead, which was a Loyalist area no less. He changed his age when applying for both colleges because people his age would usually be out of college by then. But I can't blame Burr considering he doesn't know any of that, it's not like Hamilton spilled his whole life story to him all he mentioned was that he was an orphan, and it would seem like Hamilton had a decent life seeing how good he's doing now. Not to mention Aaron's been through tough times too of course.
THAT ONE PART WHERE BURR JUST KIND OF STOPS HAVING A BREAKDOWN AND LOOKS AT ALEX AND FOR A SPLIT SECOND IT'S THE DUEL BUT IT SWITCHES TO WHEN THEY'RE ALL DRINKING AND RAISING THEIR GLASSES HAD ME IN TEARS
Personally, I saw it as validation for people who play the long game. It's easy to feel stuck inside a storm of peers that seem to be progressing quicker than we are. But that's why it's good to have some patience with yourself. Everyone grows at their own pace.
I feel like I can relate to both. I have Hamilton ambition. The need to make my mark, to rise above, before my time runs out. But I have burr’s hesitation, caution and “waiting” for my moment because I’m scared to mess up. So now I feel stuck. Lol
Okay, but I just realised that the lyrics “I am the only thing in my life I can control. I am inmitable, I am an original” is a direct quote from Aaron Burr himself. “Talk Less, Smile More” is too.
@@MonkeyDGooner Hey Leslie Odom Jr. did great at portraying Burr. Did you know Lin Manuel Miranda (creator) said Hamilton was originally a hip hop album in his head? Hip hop was created by African Americans and other immigrants in New York. Hamilton was an immigrant, Lafayette was an immigrant, so is Miranda. Miranda describes Hamilton as "America then, as told by America now." We are a melting pot of all kinds of races and cultures. It's very fitting that he cast people of all kinds. If he didn't do this I imagine the cast would be all white rappers except for a few blacks portraying slaves in the background (yikes). I think it's important to keep in mind this is a hip hop musical, not a documentary. It visually and musically represents America today (integrated, with talent recognized from all backgrounds) while telling the story of Hamilton.
He's not kidding btw when he says his "grandfather was a fire and brimstone preacher" His grandfather was freaking Jonathan Edwards, the writer of the sermon "Sinners In The Hands of an Angry God" and brought THOUSANDS of people to christ. This was on his mother's side of the family, explaining why he called her a genious, and his father, who commanded respect, was the president of Princeton Academy, something he did not tell Alexander when he asked about how he graduated so quickly. (His full name is Aaron Columbus Burr Jr, just a fact I find fun)
I really adore Theodosia's and Aaron's relationship, they talked about politics, feminism and discussed about feminist authors, also educating their daughter with the same dedication that they would have give her if she was a boy. They loved each other and had an intellectual relationship, and equal treatment by both of them.
This is actually a song that saved me when I was having really horrible depression episodes and felt suicidal, cuz really the only thing I can do is wait. Like "If there's a reason I'm still alive, then I'm willing to wait for it" somehow kept me alive. This animatic made it so emotional, I honestly love this so much!!
same. my life at the moment reminds me of an empty space where nothing's going on, ever, and i sometimes think that if i was never born, nothing would've changed. there are so many good people with meaningful lives who have a huge impact on people around them, and they're dying at a young age, and here i am, a complete nobody, a loner, a stranger, an observer, and yet i'm still alive. sometimes i wonder why. i'm practically useless to this world, so meaningless in fact that it's almost a miracle it still didn't get rid of me. so yeah. if there's a reason i'm still alive, i'll wait for it.
Me too, the part "and if there's a reson i'm still alive when so many have died, the im willing to wait for it" just hits me so hard because there is a lot of people fitting for their lifes and a lot of people have lost it without even wanting, that thought just make suicide incredibly patetic. To throw away my life just because i'm not satisfied? Life is a shot and i'm not throwing it away, even if that means I have to wait to use it. (Geez Hamilton taught me so many things)
I won't tell anything personal but the line that hits it for me is "love doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints" "we rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes" and well i am willing to wait for it as well
So, uh, I have nothing to add to this comment except for the fact that I saw the name 'Michael Mell' and thought HEY LOOK IT'S MY RIEND I SWEAR WE DIDN'T PLAN THIS!! So, yea. Hey Michael. (For those of you who are still confused, look at my name.)
@@Mika-np9mq Eliza was the one who tell Hamilton's story but he was already dead. So maybe she decided to also tell abour theirs stories because she don't want them to be forget and they help her to retrace Hamilton's story. Sorry if it's not clear but I'm not good in english
"When everyone who has loved me has died" That line is just so sad because it's actually true. Theodosia passes away and just leaves Burr to take care of Theodosia Jr, who then dies at sea. This song is beautiful
even before that. Both his parents and grandparents passed away before he was two. That Isn't even the whole of it. He literally lost everyone he loved, except for his found family that he stumbled upon later in life and sat at his bed when he died.
The line that really breaks my heart in this song is 'if there's a reason I'm still alove when everyone who loves me has died', cuz not only does it say that he's lost many loved ones, but it implies that he believes nobody alive loves him anymore
Burr is the most relatable character in the musical. I mean, all that Burr wanted was to get what Hamilton had, but Hamilton already took the things he wanted. Having a Schuyler as a wife, being an aide of Washington, having friends, being part of Washington's cabinet, getting known, and having his legacy. He couldn't have all of that, Alex already took it all, but we all know Alex didn't do it on purpose, he really had no idea on what he's been doing since he's main focus is his legacy from the entire Musical. Hamilton still thought that him and Burr were friends at "Schuyler defeated" were he said "I've always considered you a friend". It's possible that he's bestest friends in his entire life were Laurens, Lafayette, Mulligan, Robert (yes he's one of his best friends), and Burr. It's kinda heartbreaking though, Hamilton's been focus on his legacy and work, he didn't notice that he was also losing his only friend Burr. He ruined Burr's reputation so he won't be president.
Alex had more to fight for and more to prove to everyone. Burr basically states he's gonna sit back and wait for everything instead of going for it head on like Alex. He legit has nothing to be upset over if he just wanted to sit back and wait. The whole reason Alex screwed him over cause he didn't trust him. I'm not going to tell everyone to follow someone when I don't know what they're about.
I just want to picture an alternate universe where Hamilton and Burr are best friends that both hate Jefferson and one day Jefferson threatens Hamilton but then Hamilton and Burr start rapping about everything they'll do to Jefferson and it ends with Hamilton yelling "just you wait" and Burr yelling "yeah, wait for it" then they do a cute best friend secret handshake
Casually wants a musical of Burrs story being told, his life went beyond Hamilton's, so much happened, theres so much left unsaid, it could be a great sequel esque thing. There could be like a lot of references to the hamilton musical, some lyrics repeated, and a little overlap of storylines. I think it could be amazing, in the end, Burr was still forgotten, probably much more than Hamilton was. People need to know about the theodosias, the pretty much midlife crisis/ mental breakdown that happened after he killed Hamilton, about the fleeing of the state, the treason, the incredibly wealthy wife he married but divorced shortly after, what exactly he supported, what he didn't, people need to know this, Aaron Burr's story is just as worthy as Hamilton's story and deserves to be told.
And gets shot (NOT LITERALLY!!!! I can never clarify it enough in Hamilmatics ;w;)) down by Angelica when he first saw her again. You can never come back from that.
Since the first (or second,) time I have watched this animatic, there's something who always hits me: 2:21 "He takes" *shows Eliza* Hamilton married Eliza, there's a lot of love in their relationship and everything is fine, when Burr only have a hide relationship. 2:21 "And he takes" *shows Washington* Burr tried to be his right hand man, ready to give some ideas, without sucess because Washington already chose Hamilton, who doesn't even wanted this. 2:22 "And he takes" *shows Laurens, Lafayette and Mulligan* so, when I first saw this, I thougt "Why are they here, at this line?". Then, I remembered "Aaron Burr, sir". In this song, the hamilsquad already know Burr, Szin's animation even make them close (well, not "super diper close", but still more close than just acquaintances who says "hello" to each other when they are meeting and that's it...). Then Hamilton arrived, and became friend with the whole gang... and Burr isn't a part of this gang. So, I have two ways to see this part: one, Burr doesn't really have friends as close than Hamilton, Laurens, Lafayette and Mulligan are, so once again, Hamilton have something Burr doesn't have. Or the second way: Hamilton just came one day in Burr's life and he took the people who were sort of Burr' friends, leaving him out. I'm not sure, maybe I'm just over analyzing, but that's the kind of things I can't help but think about.
omg that's actually really sad. this song just tells us that no one is completely good or evil. there's both in everyone. burr may have killed hamilton, but it was from jealousy because he envies hamilton's success. hamilton's the hero of the story, but he made a lot of bad choices too.
Cause is like Burr just sat back like "hahahah yall got proof that was me??" But Hamilton attacked and was like "I should post a statement before they do"
It was actually just an accusation, because after killing hamilton, people were doing whatever they could to stain his reputation, which lead to his second wife divorcing him
this song made me actually relate and like burr. I originally thought he would be like the smartass one in the group, but this song shows his real feelings. He does and, and resents alex because of his success. This all boils over into a fateful duel. Two shots. Only one finds it's mark. One man falls. End of a ledgend.
Love doesn't discriminate Between the sinners (Hamilton) And the saints (Burr) It takes (Eliza) And it takes (Eliza) And it takes (John) And we keep loving anyway. (Eliza) We laugh (Lafayette) and we cry (Eliza) and we break (Hamilton) And we make our mistakes. (Hamilton, the Reynolds Pamphlet) Death doesn't discriminate Between the sinners (Hamilton) and the saints (Phillip) It takes (John) and it takes (Phillip) and it takes (Hamilton) And we keep living anyway (Burr and Eliza). We rise (John) and we fall (Phillip) and we break (Eliza) And we make our mistakes. (Hamilton) In the end, Burr didn’t wait for it. And Hamilton threw away his shot.
In the real story, burr did in fact wait for it. Hamilton did throw away his shot, picking off a branch above burr instead of aiming at him. Burr, thinking Hamilton was just a bad shot, fired back.
can we talk about the fact, that burr lost his parents, grandparents, and grand-grandfather when he was two years old. Theodosia 1 &2 died,, and he killed his own best friend, if he can wait for it, you frickin can too
So his entire life he's thinking, "Everyone who loves me has died" Because Alex loved him in his own kind of way and he died by Burr's own hand... Let's have a moment of silence for Burr and how strong he was to keep going all his life while thinking that. Let's just think about that for a minute.
Invisible Light Well....real life Hamilton and Burr couldn't stand each other. You don't go just shooting people that you like. Hell, after shooting Hamilton, Burr went and had breakfast with his cousin and acted like nothing happened. Burr didn't come to regret what he did until he faced the consequences of his actions. He lost his vice presidency, had to escape the country, and when he came back he died in obscurity. The musical gives Burr the benefit of the doubt, but the reality is a bit more bleak. Burr was an old, bitter dude and he took his jealousy of Hamilton to deadly lengths.
the fact that Burr was pressured to protect his family's legacy at a very young age, and all the people he loved dying, and having to deal with all of these. especially when killed hamilton the guilt he felt for the rest his life. it just hurts man
I just realized a big thing at the end!! At 2:16 to the end, it's symbolizing about how Burr is always jealous of Ham. The spirits stand for his emotions, strong will, smartness, and his sense of leadership. So around 2:16 , it stands for 'The World was Wide Enough' and 'Obedient Servant' because he's saying how Hamilton always wins and how he steals things away from him. The spirits are about to go in to attack him but he holds them back saying wait for it. I think that means that he's waiting for the right time when he has to go up against him. He builds up all his pent anger and when he sends the spirits to attack ham, it's like when they were dueling. If you pause the video around then, you'll find Theodosia's spirit in the background. She doesn't look mad like the other spirits, she looks guilty and sad, standing for as Burr's good conscience and his kindness of himself. His kindness doesn't agree with violence and is most likely what brings him guilt. After the spirits attack ham, you see that he extends his arm out, like he's about to shoot Burr. Burr covers himself as protection, but then realizes Ham raises his hand in the air with a glass, like his last line, 'Raise a glass to freedom.' Pretty weird, huh?
Gold Knight I was waiting for someone to see this. You also see before that how all the spirits if his family are egging him on while Theodosia is watching him looking sad. You can guess she wants to help but there's not much she could do. When she died it really broke him apart because he loved her so much. She was like his comfort and his reassurance and what held him together and kept him going...in a way.
Burr is definitely the most important character in Hamilton. He lead Alex into the bar to meet Laurens, Lafayette and Mulligan- without this most of the events would never had happened.
2:10 "What is it like in his shoes?" **is an orphan** **best friend gets killed** **cheats on wife** **wife now hates him** **son is shot in a gun fight** **eventually gets shot in a gun fight too** lmao you don't wanna know, Burr
What is it like in Aaron's shoes? **is an orphan** **friend gets killed** **knows wife is cheating on her real husband** **wife dies** **friend ruins entire reputation and makes him want to commit suicide** **daughter is lost overseas** **has regret for the rest of his life for shooting his enemy** lmao you don' wanna know, Hamilton
@@alissawilliams3435 Atually, no. This is how he died in history; Burr suffered a debilitating stroke in 1834, which rendered him immobile. In 1836, Burr died on Staten Island in the village of Port Richmond, in a boardinghouse that later became known as the St. James Hotel. He was buried near his father in Princeton, New Jersey.
I used to not really see how this is really a villain song, especially since burr isn't really a villain until act 2 when he very clearly gets his villain song with room where it happens, but after listening to it more it really does everything a villain song should. It establishes his motives and methods, and shows why he hates the "hero"
@@aci6737 I don't really think burr is a villain - this song is fun, because it's clearly showing us that for all time long they have different positions, and then, in the end, they changing their sides, but they are still in opposite. like always black and white. well, anyway, hamilton will die, xo xo
@@aci6737 i know im late but i wouldnt really qualify burr as a vilain he is more since he doesnt really do any major evil things but he is absolutly an antagonist since his beliefs completly oppose those of hamilton.
I like how, at the end, the "phantom" of Hamilton is shown to be smiling warmly at Burr and raising a glass, and Burr looks away. It shows how complex Burr's feelings are toward Hamilton. He resent's Hamilton's successes, but he feels guilty about that resentment because Hamilton's his friend.
" *life doesnt discriminate between the sinners and the saints it takes and it takes--* " *shows laurens staring up at the sky *HOW IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS, THIS WAS LITERALLY A FORESHADOWING OF THE LAURENS INTERLUDE*
I can make you cry even more ;) In 'The Story Of Tonight', you know who first says the lines 'raise a glass to freedom'? Laurens. Before Hamilton dies, he tells Eliza to live on and then he reminds himself of his friendship with Laurens. He reminds himself about the two most important people in his life, Eliza and Laurens, before he dies.
Yea... sure, Burr shot Hamilton, but i mean... at least he felt sorry for it... he lost EVERYONE that loved him... he lost every single person he loved and Hamilton just... he made a first impression and just got...everything he wanted in Burrs opinion. Sure, Hamilton's father ran away when he was 10, mother died at 12, cousin commited suicide... but Burr's family died when it appeared as though he was a toddler. Not a tween like Alex was, but a TODDLER. So yes, people should sorta sympathize with him because... he lost everyone he loved... Ayyyy this is a really long comment but this is my observations from... everything.
We shouldn’t call anyone in the musical the bad or the good guy cause everyone’s complex and it isn’t so black and white. It’s wrong to call him the bad guy. At the end Burr even realizes it even himself that he would be seen as a bad guy (just, no) through history by US and ugh I just wanna protect everybody now that I know their Story
I love that when u see a little bit of the jealousy kick in he diverts it and talks about how Hamilton "changes the game" and u can tell that he doesn't exactly hate him and he sort of starts to look up to him. He starts seeing him as someone to strive twords and it makes the song so much more emotional. Like, I feel that shit in my bones. 😩
I would pay a good deal of money to see a full blown movie of Hamilton drawn by you. With your beautiful Lams hints. Gah I want that to be a thing so badly. Just. Pls.
I love how this animatic shows Burr's feelings and thoughts. He has lost A LOT, he lost both his parents young, ends up losing his daughter and his wife at some point. And at 2:20 it shows what Hamilton "takes". He married Eliza, took Washington from Burr when he hoped he could be his right hand man, AND it also shows Laurens, Mulligan, and Lafayette. Burr wasn't that close to the three, but Hamilton " Took" Them from him. It seems like Burr cared for the three men, but they kinda left him and joined Hamilton. This song and video just makes me so sad and just really feel for Burr!!!!!! ((Also I absolutely love your videos they're amazing. Okay I'm done byeeeeeee!!))
Gahhh what a good watch ;o; I especially love the foreshadowing of their duel- the tears as soon as he raises his hand and points [read: shoots], as if instantly regretting the action... His fear of being attacked himself as Ham raises his arm, which in the final duel originally prompted him to shoot, but Ham's raising a glass to freedom.. And I like that Burr's ghost? family seemingly reflects his emotions. They seem to cheer him on as he's going into how he's original and such, but steadily angered into a frenzy when he starts talking about Hammy. Love the whole thing in general just.. hnn. Why are you not in my subs yet.
Jk Howling That's an amazing explanation of burr and his ghost, though to me his families ghost all seem very aggressive and looking down on burr, and he shakes free of them when he speaks of him being in control. Theodosia seems to be the only ghost who worries about burr and acts as his conscious at times. Than as he sings about Hamilton and builds into a frenzy the ghost do go into frenzy and when he stops from shooting Hamilton the first time you see theodosia behind him, but it's to late and he shoots Hamilton 😭😭
Personally, I respect Burr and Hamilton equally. Burr is a better husband and the mental fortitude it takes to wait and watch despite all the stuff he sees while doing so is crazy while Hamilton is the most relentless person and he knows that there are so many risks but he still dives in and wriggles his way to victory.
okay i have no clue why this video got suddenly unblocked??????????? but that's good i guess?? also wow i did burr dirty, i couldn't draw a head to save my life lmao
Man, these visuals are beautiful. I can really imagine this setup in live-action being absolutely spectacular, and still just as moving as this song demands. Really really good.
Rewatching this video makes me notice a thing. When Burr's mother, father and grandfather are all shown as illusions(??) it shows them being arrogant, yelling or causing some stress (with Burr yelling, or covering his head to block out their voices is giving me the vibes that he's stressed- trying to block out the overwhelming voices in his head) While Theodosia is shown as affectionate or loving towards Burr, showing how sincere she is with him. When he's having this whole breakdown of his, she sat away from the other illusions watching Burr freaking out while the other illusions are closing in on him yelling in his face. Just something I thought of, cause it seems like Burr had so much pressure on him when his parents died. Like how in "Aaron Burr, Sir" he says "it was my parents' dying wish before they passed" or how in this song is says "when they died they left no instructions, just a legacy to protect."
Keen eye, but thats not what happened. While his parents were strict, both them and his grandparent died before he was two. The real danger came from Timothy Edwards, his maternal uncle who he lived with from 1759 to when he moved out, who would often be physically abusive, hence he tried to run away multiple times.

I feel like Burr sometimes. Don’t we all? We wait for something too long. We get in line only to realize that you can pay for the vip. You just have to be willing to sacrifice your sanity, blood, sweat, and tears. People pick easier jobs so they dont have to be in college for so long. Burr was sadly, the ultimate procrastinator. He waited. And waited. And waited. Until he realized that he is not immortal. He doesn’t have much time left to make a mark in the world. So. He took action. But it was too late. Someone had already taken his spotlight. Someone who should be disgraced in his eyes. Hamilton. A man who came from nothing. Hamilton. He must be erased. He has taken it all from me. I must rise up rise up rise up. But in the end, he waited for it. Death doesn’t discriminate. Life doesn’t discriminate. Hamilton lives on. But in Burrs case he lives on for the wrong reasons. Legacy? What is a legacy? You can’t put off planting a garden. It takes many years to grow a seed that will soon be a beautiful tree in a garden you never get to see. Burr didn’t have an Eliza. Burr didn’t have the chance. Because he waited for it. Raise a glass to freedom.
2:38 the foreshadowing of Hamilton's death then he holds a glass up to Burr breaks my heart every time. The animations really conveyed Burr's self-conflict and envy of Hamilton! Awesome job!
Jordan Cary isn’t it also weird how Philip Hamilton, the son of Alexander Hamilton, dies to the hand of George Eacker, a follower of Aaron Burr? And a few years later Alexander Hamilton dies to the hand of Aaron Burr? I’d call that foreshadowing what is to come to Alexander Hamilton.
In the song when it says "death doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints" It actually made me think about real life and how anyone can die at anytime for any reason no matter if they are a saint or like a living nightmare.
Ok but, why is no one talking about the flashforward at the end? Is literally Alexander´s death but with a glass.... I see you what are you doing szin, _I fucking see you_

I never thought watching a Hamilton animatic would make me cry like this. I guess there's a first for everything. Seriously, this is super emotional. My feels were shredded apart by your amazing animating skills. Love all your animatics too!
Oh I thought it was supposed to mean don’t wait run after what you want in life because he waited and failed and Hamilton ran after what he wanted and succeeded
Thing is I acknowledge that I am more like Burr than Hamilton, for better or worse. I move forward in life yet I am careful and sometimes takes a step back. Burrs' character I understand, I relate to him. Which makes this so much more tragic.
he wasnt with democratic republican yet, those were supposed to be his dead family members! although this is a really good idea and you can picture it like that if you want!
Only when you've lost everyone in your life you'll begin to understand Burr's "Wait For It". I realized this when I lost my parents, and my best friend. This song can also symbolize the one in all of us who waits. It's a powerful song we can fall back into when we're fighting an "endless uphill climb". Szin's animations enhances the effects and imageries we get in our minds when we hear this song. I love it.
Honestly, of all the Hamilton songs, I find this song the most relatable, especially with Burr. All I do is stand by the side and watch all of my friends live life to the fullest. Being a reserved person that I am, I never really told anyone my intentions, how they are hurting me, or the fact that I choose to not stand up for myself and let others use me as a doormat. "Talk less, smile more" is what I told myself everyday to hide every emotion. Anyways, enough with my rambling, great video
+Yada Gasai I can relate completely. You have to remember, though, that you are a brilliant, beautiful, incredible human being (just like Burr was, in my opinion), and you are worth every ounce of good that comes to you! I think that if you want to and you are comfortable with it, you should absolutely confront those who are hurting you (although I would not recommend dueling with them :P) and let them know what they are doing to you. And if you're comfortable with showing your emotions, show them and let yourself live life to the fullest on your terms -- not on anyone's else! Maybe you're like Burr (and me, tbh), and you don't want to live on the fast track with all work, no play like Hamilton did it. That's awesome! Live life as it comes to you by going with the flow and just enjoying the little things. Or whatever else works for you! Just be you, because you are amazing. :)
Yada Gasai I can relate to you my friends can be hurtful sometimes and I don’t say anything I take it as a joke just to not show emotion.I keep my emotions bottled up all the time
I used to dislike burr because he shot hamilton but now as I listen to this song with this beautiful animatic I now see. Hamilton is basically changing the game and the rules causing him to always win while Burr is playing by the rules but is never satisfied with his outcome. He wanted to be with Washington so when he saw that Hamilton was hired even though he wanted to fight, jealousy came over Burr. All he wanted was to have the life that he wanted and thought that he could by doing everything his parents told him to do before he did, but Hamilton’s Dad left and his mom died and he grew up without having a plan, and ends up being remembered as the good guy while Burr has the title of “The One That Shot Hamilton”.
he kind of earned it for himself, the title I mean Then again, Alex also asked for his death by bringing up his wife's death in a political/personal argument
Actually, according to the Alexander Hamilton biography, (at least how i understand it) Burr actually felt revolted by the aide de camp position because it is actually pretty close to the life of a personal assistant.
dude. i’m reminiscing on my hamilton phase again but like, this hit different for me now. it’s probably because i’m about to start my senior high school year this august, starting a new chapter and stuff. throughout my entire high school i just kept on waiting for the right time, for the right moment, mulling over every opportunity that comes my way because hey, everyone gets a spotlight someday, right? some of my friends are suicidal, one even jumped off a bridge and thankfully survived, but he has a robot leg now. that messed me up man, a lot. after that i’m just thinking of all the opportunities that i left to settle in my palms on to make them slip away from my fingers because there’s a “right time” for everything. now i just realize, there’s no such thing. i don’t know if i’m motivated, scared, or confused, probably all at the same time and more, but if there’s a reason i’m still alive when so many have died, then i’m gonna find it, i’m not gonna wait anymore.
Warning: long I don't know whether I should cry, laugh, smile, scream, or all four. I find such endless emotion in the character of Aaron Burr, and this song captures all of it perfectly. Now you've gone and given it a beautiful animatic, and I simply can't pick apart everything I'm feeling. I want to cry because Aaron tried so hard to win Washington's approval, and I'm just imagining him going back to his tent on the night of Right Hand Man and crying silently, replaying everything he said and wondering what he did wrong. Wondering why he wasn't good enough. I want to laugh because he has Theodosia, a woman who knows what's what and legitimately cares for him. You can tell that he absolutely adores her, and I love that. She won't leave him and he won't leave her, and Theo's husband is gonna have a hard time getting past that. I want to smile because he is so determined. Godammit, he's willing to wait for it! He won't back down when he's chasing what he wants, and even though literally everyone tries to stop him, he keeps going. I love that mindset- I'm in it constantly. Lastly... I want to scream. I want to scream because despite being pushed down every day, despite being rejected by Washington simply because Hamilton has friends, despite not being in the room where it happens, and despite the fact that Hamilton always seems to be better than him at everything he loves doing, Burr is still fcking nice to him. He still tries to be friends because when they first met, when Hamilton tapped him on the shoulder to ask if he was Aaron Burr, sir, he saw potential in this little 19-year-old immigrant and wanted to help the kid go places in life. Shite, that was long... I just plopped my deepest emotions onto the keypad... a virtual hug to anyone who got to the end. Cry/laugh/smile/scream with me.
I can feel Burr in the Washington part. I’ve always wanted to be good enough for my mother, showing her that I am way better than those other daughters who aren’t even her’s. I want to show her that I’m way better but it never happens, I’m still compared to them, she still wishes I was like those other girls. I never wanted to compete against girls who don’t even deserve my hate but I always felt like I’m not good enough.
Natsu's and Hwiyoung's child oh god I just remembered that I had comment notifications turned off... HOW DO YOU TURN THEM ON I WANT TO SEE THE ONLINE WARS I JAVE CREATED FROM STANDING UP TO DAN AND PHIL HATERS BCUZ THERE ARE NO HAMILTON HATERS BUT TRUMP DIE TRUMP
I've seen a lot of comments talking about how Burr was innocent, and people agreeing and disagreeing with them, then using letters and mistakes along with accomplishes of Hamilton and Burr to support them. In reality though, we know next to nothing about the personality and inner workings of our founding father's minds. Yes we have letters, and lists of accomplishments and mistakes, but that's not what defines a person. That's something that can never be recorded, something you have to personally know someone to judge. Unfortunately, anyone typing a comment on this video never got that chance, that opportunity. Yes, I have my own opinions on who was at fault, but I don't feel like I know enough to decide if I'm right or not. Until you can invent a time machine to go back and ask Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton their intentions, we'll never know.
Ender Fox I agree We have things that may show us what type people there were But the true inner working you needed to be in that time period to actually know what both were truly like
I wish we could create a time machine and go back. Be like "Ok AARON BURR why did you shoot hamilton?" "who de are thou?" "Frick... forgot about old english." "The english I do speak is not old, it is le present english. What are you speaking? A peasants english?" "..." (Also before anybody attacks me I do not know old english so sorry if it's incorrect)
Just a random comment Burr if my favorite character in the musical He didn’t mean to kill Hamilton in the musical When he shot him he said “WAIT” he wanted to take it back He also mentioned he tried to walk over but they pushed him away so I feel bad for burr also with theodosia (His daughter) She died trying to get back to burr ;(( well sorry ham ham burr is my fav
popopop984 Hamilton had his glasses on, making Burr think he wore it to get a better aim to shoot him. Burr didn’t want Theodosia becoming an orphan like he did, so he shot. In the musical, Hamilton shot at the sky and Burr saw all his mistakes right there, in the worst moment of his life.
Burr loved Theodosia so much ahh Honestly this is why i adore burr. Yes he made a mistake, but he was envious, fighting everyday to get the things that where so simple to Hamilton.
Both were strong-willed, I think, but almost opposites. Burr stood firm in his decision to wait, Hamilton never stopped moving and chasing. Both criticized each other for their own lifestyle, tried to 'help' and make them see each other's point of view. I feel for Burr so much - Hamilton, as he said, 'takes and he takes and he takes', and Burr never backed down from what he thought was right anyway. It took years for him to finally snap, slow to anger. You may not agree with the guy, but you have to sympathize at least a little.
0:35 Can we all just stop and look at this scene for a moment? *sobs* IS THIS FORESHADOWING BECAUSE LOVE TAKES AND IT TOOK FROM ANGELICA AND THEN SHES HOLDING PEGGY BECAUSE LOVE TOOK PEGGY AWAY TOO LATER INTO DEATH AND AT 0:34 BECAUSE LAURENS PROBABLY LOVED HAMILTON BUT LOVE TOOK FROM HIM TOO *inhales* genius
I never noticed how, near the end when Alexander is raising his hand, Burr is thinking that Alex is holding a gun and just waiting for what Alex will do And in the end it's him raising a glass as friends. Like damn, way to foreshadow the ending so beautifully (even though we all know it's going to happen)
i just realized when burr send the “spirits” after hamilton and afterwards hamilton is seen raising his glass to the sky, it’s foreshadowing for burr shooting hamilton later on omfg
Im ElectraHeart Not me. I've had many moments where I can't control even myself. Edit: When I think about it, I let my feelings get the best of me. I relate more to Hamilton. I don't think I do.
For the person who shot Hamilton this guy must show some level of respect for him because he wrote a song that basically states how jealous he is of him.
Izzy B Actually I'm not to fond of Hamilton either. First of all he cheated on Eliza (literally) Second: He betrayed Lafayette (doesn't support France in the French revolution) Third: He doesn't trie to consider the emotions of the people around him. He's just trying to prove that he is right, but doesn't seen to understand that the approach of other people could work, or that they are afraid of sth. (e.g. when Burr is afraid of dieing and plans to wait for how the revolution unfolds instead of diving head over toe in a war) I don't want to say, that he is dumb, or that I can't understand his point of view, but I think he is too narrow-minded.
0:25-0:35 Burr:Love doesn’t discriminate, between the sinners and the saints, he takes and he takes and he takes... Lafayette:GET A ROOM!! *Laurens cries* Lmao, totally worth it in this sentimental song
H-h-how??? This is still up It has a Hamilton Song SZIN NEVER DELETE THIS THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG YOU MADE MY FAVORITE VERSION OF THIS ANIMATIC NEVER DELETE THIS PLEASE
Why doesn’t anyone talk about the ending?!!! It’s so genius how Burr suddenly stops, realizing how far he’s gone and calms down, only to see Hamilton holding his shot, smiling without care and Burr just turns away as if to say: I let to keep going, there isn’t anything I can do anyway, so I’ll just wait IT FORESHADOWS THE ENDING OF THE MUSICAL SO WELL JUST LIKE NO STOP!!!
Burr lost everyone he loved including his wife, child, mom, dad, grandpa and he lost to Jefferson and Hamilton had so many friends and was way more successful... Has he ever gotten any good thing happen in his life
he was willing to wait for all the great things like his wife and daughter. it was short lived but when anger is all pent up inside him I guess it was like the drop of water that extinguished his fire. short lived but it took away the anger. Hamilton got success and everything else but turns out he was a cheating butt. life lessons
grace wang I mean no but yes , is child but she dies... and his wife, but she dies... I mean being friends with Hamilton, but then he shot him so yes and no 😂😭
I feel very bad for Burr because although he shot Hamilton, he waited for almost everything. I can just imagine how sad he must’ve felt when Hamilton got the right hand man place instead of him because Hamilton had friends and was outgoing, not taking any hesitation while Burr was quiet and decides to wait for the right time to strike. I can relate to that because I am never the one that wins, but I’m still going to wait for it in hopes of a better future. IF Burr waited for it in the end, Hamilton wouldn’t have thrown away his shot.
What most people don't realize is that Burr and Hamilton were friends. When Burr killed Hamilton he immediately regretted it because they were friends. More people need to realize this.

If someone ever decides to make Hamilton into a movie, this needs to be the storyboard for this song.

Monochrome Color ik itslate but here have a tissue *gives tissuebox*
Monochrome Color I read this comment just as that lyric came on ;0;
Monochrome Color same :'(
Monochrome Color this video is sad I just started crying the first line
Michael M It’s Hamilton being Hamilton and being mistaken as a threat- all it ever was, right? (Omg right?? I almost cried too!)
I don't know how to describe it but I cry because of how the art captures the personalites or it's just a sad song
@@iraje3974 wtf? If it's really good and really sad then *yeah* you can cry at it.

Why do Burr's songs hit hard? It gives you a good life lesson. Dont just always jump at everything. Sometimes, you have to wait.
welcoming _boys True and sometimes waiting on your right track would get you hella crushed😂😅
Lin Gave some of the best songs he composed to burr
Personally, I saw it as validation for people who play the long game. It's easy to feel stuck inside a storm of peers that seem to be progressing quicker than we are. But that's why it's good to have some patience with yourself. Everyone grows at their own pace.
I feel like I can relate to both. I have Hamilton ambition. The need to make my mark, to rise above, before my time runs out. But I have burr’s hesitation, caution and “waiting” for my moment because I’m scared to mess up. So now I feel stuck. Lol
@@Serenity113 cool
Okay, but I just realised that the lyrics “I am the only thing in my life I can control. I am inmitable, I am an original” is a direct quote from Aaron Burr himself.
“Talk Less, Smile More” is too.
the only character that they got even remotely historically accurate in hamilton was burr (even then not really because burr wasnt black?)
@@MonkeyDGooner obviously? Everyone knows that they were pretty much all white guys? Doesn't matter though, really.

He's not kidding btw when he says his "grandfather was a fire and brimstone preacher"
His grandfather was freaking Jonathan Edwards, the writer of the sermon "Sinners In The Hands of an Angry God" and brought THOUSANDS of people to christ.
This was on his mother's side of the family, explaining why he called her a genious, and his father, who commanded respect, was the president of Princeton Academy, something he did not tell Alexander when he asked about how he graduated so quickly.

I really adore Theodosia's and Aaron's relationship, they talked about politics, feminism and discussed about feminist authors, also educating their daughter with the same dedication that they would have give her if she was a boy. They loved each other and had an intellectual relationship, and equal treatment by both of them.

...and then she died.
Loooloooool u called him Aaron that sounds weird for some reason
This is actually a song that saved me when I was having really horrible depression episodes and felt suicidal, cuz really the only thing I can do is wait. Like "If there's a reason I'm still alive, then I'm willing to wait for it" somehow kept me alive. This animatic made it so emotional, I honestly love this so much!!
I too very much relate to this song. I've ran through life looking for solutions and this song hits me in the heart so hard.
same. my life at the moment reminds me of an empty space where nothing's going on, ever, and i sometimes think that if i was never born, nothing would've changed. there are so many good people with meaningful lives who have a huge impact on people around them, and they're dying at a young age, and here i am, a complete nobody, a loner, a stranger, an observer, and yet i'm still alive. sometimes i wonder why. i'm practically useless to this world, so meaningless in fact that it's almost a miracle it still didn't get rid of me. so yeah. if there's a reason i'm still alive, i'll wait for it.
Actually same! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that had that realization when I heard this in my lowest place!
I won't tell anything personal but the line that hits it for me is "love doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints" "we rise and we fall and we break and we make our mistakes" and well i am willing to wait for it as well

That line is just so sad because it's actually true.

5
Alex had more to fight for and more to prove to everyone. Burr basically states he's gonna sit back and wait for everything instead of going for it head on like Alex. He legit has nothing to be upset over if he just wanted to sit back and wait. The whole reason Alex screwed him over cause he didn't trust him. I'm not going to tell everyone to follow someone when I don't know what they're about.
Stash_ OfWeed who the heck is Robert?
This makes me cry.

You can never come back from that.
You damn right
Well I mean 'Say No To This' is a masterpiece, just like every song in this musical. Buuuut... it's also really weird.
At least he still sang...
Kent Inson seems legit
Since the first (or second,) time I have watched this animatic, there's something who always hits me:
2:21 "He takes" *shows Eliza* Hamilton married Eliza, there's a lot of love in their relationship and everything is fine, when Burr only have a hide relationship.
I think this is extremely accurate 😄
omg that's actually really sad. this song just tells us that no one is completely good or evil. there's both in everyone. burr may have killed hamilton, but it was from jealousy because he envies hamilton's success. hamilton's the hero of the story, but he made a lot of bad choices too.

린린 wait wot, rlly??
Invisible Light Well....real life Hamilton and Burr couldn't stand each other. You don't go just shooting people that you like. Hell, after shooting Hamilton, Burr went and had breakfast with his cousin and acted like nothing happened. Burr didn't come to regret what he did until he faced the consequences of his actions. He lost his vice presidency, had to escape the country, and when he came back he died in obscurity.
The musical gives Burr the benefit of the doubt, but the reality is a bit more bleak. Burr was an old, bitter dude and he took his jealousy of Hamilton to deadly lengths.
the fact that Burr was pressured to protect his family's legacy at a very young age, and all the people he loved dying, and having to deal with all of these. especially when killed hamilton the guilt he felt for the rest his life. it just hurts man
Thats mostly pressure he put on himself, his parents and grandparents died before he was 2.
This song always gives me chills, but this animatic made it ten times more so.
*me:* you should stop watching hamilton animatics

Gold Knight This is a very good interpretation of this animatic
Gold Knight interesting thought...
why isnt this top comment
I looked back and once I saw it I kinda cried.....

Johan Contreras yes, he did.Burr actually died of depression.
Start of the song:
Oh~ I love Theodosia!
End of the song:
FUCKING HAMILTON
Underrated funny comment XD

This is honestly one of my favorite songs in the whole musical. Burr is classed as the bad guy, but what he went through, it's just so sad.
Yea... sure, Burr shot Hamilton, but i mean... at least he felt sorry for it... he lost EVERYONE that loved him... he lost every single person he loved and Hamilton just... he made a first impression and just got...everything he wanted in Burrs opinion.
Potato Flake omg did I just find a Hamilton fan that also likes aphmau

I love that when u see a little bit of the jealousy kick in he diverts it and talks about how Hamilton "changes the game" and u can tell that he doesn't exactly hate him and he sort of starts to look up to him. He starts seeing him as someone to strive twords and it makes the song so much more emotional. Like, I feel that shit in my bones. 😩
I would pay a good deal of money to see a full blown movie of Hamilton drawn by you. With your beautiful Lams hints. Gah I want that to be a thing so badly. Just. Pls.
Ezel Francisco i could die happy if that happened
When this is finished, I'll send in an ask to her Tumblr to combine all of this into a "movie"
As for szin's act one, you could just type it on TH-cam. Someone edited it to combine the whole act
Same, I would pay a lot for a movie of Hamilton made by Szin
gaara 119 I would pay good money to see that.
He also kinda betrayed Lafayette
Gahhh what a good watch ;o; I especially love the foreshadowing of their duel- the tears as soon as he raises his hand and points [read: shoots], as if instantly regretting the action... His fear of being attacked himself as Ham raises his arm, which in the final duel originally prompted him to shoot, but Ham's raising a glass to freedom..
And I like that Burr's ghost? family seemingly reflects his emotions. They seem to cheer him on as he's going into how he's original and such, but steadily angered into a frenzy when he starts talking about Hammy.
Love the whole thing in general just.. hnn. Why are you not in my subs yet.
you explained it so well.. this is a quality comment.. couldnt have said it better myself
szin
you brought me to tears, like I've heard the song before, but with this animation you just emphasizes things I hadn't thought about. Amazing!
-sad- Fact:Burr, didn't feel bad for shooting Alexander.he claimed this jokingly "Ah,Alexander...my friend...whom I shot"
Burr is a better husband and the mental fortitude it takes to wait and watch despite all the stuff he sees while doing so is crazy while Hamilton is the most relentless person and he knows that there are so many risks but he still dives in and wriggles his way to victory.

then it turns out the animatic is better
It was nice but there are just some things that real life can't do
All I can imagine though is that during this part, the visuals will look like the ones from La La Land.

True story
Ash Lee listen to its quiet uptown I cry in seconds without listening it the song cause I remember the lyrics and think about how I’m gonna cry
Rewatching this video makes me notice a thing.
When Burr's mother, father and grandfather are all shown as illusions(??) it shows them being arrogant, yelling or causing some stress (with Burr yelling, or covering his head to block out their voices is giving me the vibes that he's stressed- trying to block out the overwhelming voices in his head)
While Theodosia is shown as affectionate or loving towards Burr, showing how sincere she is with him.

+Allie Ackerman no Hamilton gets killed by Burr but the glass represents another song lyric "raise a glass to freedom" and how Hamilton respected Burr

That's not what this song is about but yeah I totally agree.
Thing is I acknowledge that I am more like Burr than Hamilton, for better or worse. I move forward in life yet I am careful and sometimes takes a step back. Burrs' character I understand, I relate to him. Which makes this so much more tragic.

Caleaha R So true XD
"I am the one thing in life i can control" These words really make you think. Burr has been through so much. Poor guy
Thanks for being honest :)
*_That_* ,is also the story of my life.
Yada Gasai I can relate to you my friends can be hurtful sometimes and I don’t say anything I take it as a joke just to not show emotion.I keep my emotions bottled up all the time
Well, it's back up again!!!
Wise words
Explains the line "Now I'm the villain in your history"
Little to no people remembered hamilton until the musical so whats your point?
he kind of earned it for himself, the title I mean
Then again, Alex also asked for his death by bringing up his wife's death in a political/personal argument
Warning: long
I don't know whether I should cry, laugh, smile, scream, or all four.
Thank you for the hug at the end,,,I needed that.
Oh god, now I'm crying. Amazing post though, thank you
That was a beautiful post thank you for sharing hon!~
I can feel Burr in the Washington part.
I’ve always wanted to be good enough for my mother, showing her that I am way better than those other daughters who aren’t even her’s. I want to show her that I’m way better but it never happens, I’m still compared to them, she still wishes I was like those other girls. I never wanted to compete against girls who don’t even deserve my hate but I always felt like I’m not good enough.
Thanks for spacing out the comment
Is it bad that whenever I'm in a situation, I now think 'What would Alexander Hamilton do?'
Cacy Draws no, I would totally do that to lol ;D

Cheat on his wife.
Ender Fox I agree
We have things that may show us what type people there were
But the true inner working you needed to be in that time period to actually know what both were truly like
Ender Fox true
In the end, Hamilton is a musical, not a documentary
@@mjincorporation30 that is so true.
I wish we could create a time machine and go back. Be like
"Ok AARON BURR why did you shoot hamilton?"
"who de are thou?"
"Frick... forgot about old english."
"The english I do speak is not old, it is le present english. What are you speaking? A peasants english?"
"..."

Wait for it

He waited his entire life... until he didn’t.
It was the worst decision he had ever made.
OH MY GOD THIS COMMENT😭
Your talking about when he shot Hamilton, right?
if that doesn't describe me as well I don't know what does
Adrian Herrera sort of like Hamilton never threw away his shot... until he did
It was the worst decision he ever made
Hamilton and Burr both made the worst mistake of their lives in the very same moment...
Just a random comment
Burr if my favorite character in the musical
He didn’t mean to kill Hamilton in the musical
When he shot him he said “WAIT” he wanted to take it back
He also mentioned he tried to walk over but they pushed him away
so I feel bad for burr
also with theodosia
(His daughter)
She died trying to get back to burr ;((
well sorry ham ham
burr is my fav
hamilton queenie are you me? Because I completely feel you
It's sadder that when Theodosia Jr. got lost at sea, dying, he eventually outlived her like his wife 😭
But he shot at him. Why would he pull the trigger if he didn't want to kill?
popopop984 Hamilton had his glasses on, making Burr think he wore it to get a better aim to shoot him. Burr didn’t want Theodosia becoming an orphan like he did, so he shot. In the musical, Hamilton shot at the sky and Burr saw all his mistakes right there, in the worst moment of his life.
hamilton queenie btw irl Burr knew what he was doing was wrong and purposely shot Hamilton even joked about it later on. Just sayin
Him raising the glass to the sky was symbolism for him aiming at the sky before he died... well at least I think it is.
美波_5 Maybe also because in "The world was wide enough" before the bullet reached him he said "Raise a glass to freedom"
Aquilona 16 I THOUGHT THAT TOO
美波_5 NOPE NOPE NOPE DON'T REMIND ME!!
Burr loved Theodosia so much ahh
Honestly this is why i adore burr. Yes he made a mistake, but he was envious, fighting everyday to get the things that where so simple to Hamilton.
ikr y'all be praising hamilton like he made no mistakes like *burr* exists thank you very much
Both were strong-willed, I think, but almost opposites.
Burr: Wait for it.
Me: Wait for it.
Alexander: Anyone want a beer.
Burr: I am in the middle of a song.
Alex: Whiskey or wine?

I never noticed how, near the end when Alexander is raising his hand, Burr is thinking that Alex is holding a gun and just waiting for what Alex will do
And in the end it's him raising a glass as friends.
Like damn, way to foreshadow the ending so beautifully (even though we all know it's going to happen)
Raise a glass to freedom...

Tammy candy That proves that even through the harshness, Hamilton raises a glass to freedom or even...... a gun for redemption.
"raise a glass to freedom" was the last thing he said before raising his gun,,

Nice Infinity War reference...I see what ya did there...love this song btw.
For the person who shot Hamilton this guy must show some level of respect for him because he wrote a song that basically states how jealous he is of him.
Are you saying that you dislike Burr? ;-;
What no!! You misunderstand I love Burr I hate Hamilton, but you have to admit that he is really jealous oh Alexander Hamilton.
Izzy B
Actually I'm not to fond of Hamilton either.
First of all he cheated on Eliza (literally)
Second: He betrayed Lafayette (doesn't support France in the French revolution)
Third: He doesn't trie to consider the emotions of the people around him. He's just trying to prove that he is right, but doesn't seen to understand that the approach of other people could work, or that they are afraid of sth. (e.g. when Burr is afraid of dieing and plans to wait for how the revolution unfolds instead of diving head over toe in a war)
I don't want to say, that he is dumb, or that I can't understand his point of view, but I think he is too narrow-minded.
0:25-0:35
Burr:Love doesn’t discriminate, between the sinners and the saints, he takes and he takes and he takes...
Lafayette:GET A ROOM!!

Burr lost everyone he loved including his wife, child, mom, dad, grandpa and he lost to Jefferson and Hamilton had so many friends and was way more successful... Has he ever gotten any good thing happen in his life
grace wang correction daughterS and sons just all of his children died before the age of 30
he was willing to wait for all the great things like his wife and daughter. it was short lived but when anger is all pent up inside him I guess it was like the drop of water that extinguished his fire. short lived but it took away the anger. Hamilton got success and everything else but turns out he was a cheating butt. life lessons
Burr wasn't all unlucky he was a better loyer then Hamilton
If it makes you feel any better, in real life, Burr does go on to marry this Theodosia person
grace wang I mean no but yes , is child but she dies... and his wife, but she dies...
Omg same I'm always the one who ends up losing because I was waiting while my brother is Hamilton in this scenario (just not as cool as Hamilton)
What most people don't realize is that Burr and Hamilton were friends. When Burr killed Hamilton he immediately regretted it because they were friends. More people need to realize this.
Ally Fox wait,(for it) people. ?????dON't know that???
In the play, yes. Historically, no. Burr had no regrets and often mocked the situation.
Stephen H Historically, it was also disputed that he went a bit insane after he shot Hamilton.
