Really love RQ! These ladies rock, for sure! I have a huge crush on Arem (the bass player), and she is my second favorite bass player behind MISA! Thanks for the shout-out, btw!

Check out the RQ song [Azalea] That's a slow build up monster tune. it's a loose cover of a song already famous in Korea, which itself is based off a poem. - I'd admit my understanding of Korean is limited, but it does allude to someone leaving the narrator and crushing beautiful azalea flowers as they leave the narrator.... Powerful imagery for sure.... Great song, and the MV is gorgeous. LINK: th-cam.com/video/EVbR7F2YgNQ/w-d-xo.html

She used a sticker to turn a "Stop" sign into a "Start" sign.

Thanks for reacting to RQ. Really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. Check out Holler, Rock and roll paradise (live), fearless. Do check out their live shows too which are also on their channel.

Many thanks and much appreciated! I have Holler on my list I think as the next one to do :) . I am going to cover the live videos at some point, but perhaps after I have a better familiarity with their most popular songs, then the live versions will carry more weight, so I may circle around to them a little later. That being said, I absolutely will be continuing the journey, and if folks are enjoying the reactions, then I'll absolutely keep sharing my adventures back through Rolling Quartz history with you :) !!!

Great reaction Baka ! Love Rolling Quartz - they're a great K-Rock 🎸 band. RQ 💎 will be touring Australia 🇦🇺 for the first time this September 2024 - and I have my ticket to see them. Can't wait to see the girls Live! 😊

I love RQ, they were great live back at he start of 2024, and I've already got tickets for 2025! They formed from two groups coming together, and hvave been going as RQ since summer 2019.... When I saw them live, they filled out the setlist with a couple of covers from the host country, which was a nice touch. - / Very entertaining on-stage too. - Great band, and another shining example that Korea isn't all K-pop.

I strongly recommend watching them play live, even for yourself if you don't do it for the channel. As much as I love the studio version of their songs, I find them so much better live. And if you want a good display of the drummer's skills, you should watch a live of Rock and Roll Paradise. She is a beast.

Thanks for reacting to RQ. I saw them at the O2 Angel in London and they were excellent, a flawless show and a great mix of songs, including covers of Metallica, Nirvana, Accept(Metal Heart), Nickelback, etc. check out Azalea MV and ‘Rock & Roll Paradise with dum solo’ live. I’m hoping to see them again in 2025😊

Good review and analysis, thanks. A further recommendation is their studio version of Reminiscence. Although it's a cover (of a well known 1970s Korean pop song), this is more of a reimagining in the RQ style, and really shows off their versatile musicianship. And recorded with the original composer watching them keenly, which must have been daunting!
I'll be seeing the band in Sydney in September, and looking forward to checking out how they perform live.
    Cheers, subscribed.

Good for you on seeing them live!! I am absolutely going to slowly start working through their back catalogue. I have a little text document of songs by them I want to get to and I will add that. I think that, with covers, I like to listen to the original first so I can make a comparison in how they re-interpreted the song, as I find that a very fascinating insight in to a band's method. I may therefore leave it until I have built up a slightly more extensive knowledge of their singles, but I will absolutely make sure to come to Reminiscence at some point soon :) . Many thanks!

They're much better live. I would actually recommend a cover. "Pink Drop" a cover of Black Pink's "Pink Venom". So you know they totally rewrote the music. It's very popular live. You could react to both and compare.

If you look at writing first and foremost, I'd recommend checking out Azalea and Red Wine.
All 5 of the ladies co-wrote the lyrics, and the songs are driven by emotion and experience.

The studio mix lacks "OOMF" on the drums. Maybe a little thin sounding too.

Yeah, for some reason their videos (more so early on) tend to sound pretty flat. That was what I always came away feeling.
