- Trusted viewers told us this would be a great place to start with Rolling Quartz, so we are reacting today to their debut "Blaze". This was an interesting change of pace from Korea. We need to know more about this group.

A hidden gem that is famous and gaining recognition abroad, but is completely unknown in Korea.
The drummer is also the drum teacher for Handong of Dreamcatcher!!!!! And yes she is a Little cutey, and I do mean Little!!!! I saw them in Seattle last year and they were awesome live and just the sweetest women ever!!!!! Iree (Red Hair) can't keep from smiling always!!!!! Thanks for reacting to ROLLING QUARTZ, keep going with them!!!!!
Thanks for watching. We'll have more for sure.
YES! I was looking for this comment! :) And RQ has covered DC's song 'Good Night'. :)
Great reaction as always!
I saw Rolling Quartz back in January and they put on an INCREDIBLE live show! They are a rabbit hole of their own to dive into. The fanbase is so loyal and growing and the girls are super friendly, was great meeting them and they're just insanely good live.
Jayoung's vocals live is really something to see.
Fearless, Stand Up, Holler, Azalea... They have a lot of great MVs out there.
Thank you!
Discovered these ladies a few years ago.
They have catalog of covers and are building their own songs catalog. They have toured the US and Europe successfully. They are on the path that Band Maid used by playing small venues, good MV's studio and live. Yeongeun, drums, began playing the drums as a child. Jayoung, singer, is also a Kpop voice coach.
NEXT - "Fearless' their latest release. There is studio MV and a Live MV. Both are excellent.
Actually, Rolling Quartz latest original song release is "Stand Up". This was release around 2 weeks ago. There is a music video on their official website.
Rolling Quartz are fans of Dreamcatcher
*YES!!* ROLLING QUARTZ is such an underrated band because rock is not that popular in Korea. There are few "true" bands that actually play their own instruments, have a rock sound and even fewer female bands. This was their debut and they recently had a comeback 2 weeks ago. I suggest doing the performance MV not the official MV of their latest release. Also they are currently on a European Tour
▪︎ *"STAND UP" - ROLLING QUARTZ*

▪︎May I also suggest a Korean band that is co-ed but they have a female lead singer, you won't be disappointed in this one either
▪︎ *"KARMA" - MESSGRAM*

Thanks for the info.
I'm delighted to see I'm not the only Messgram fan here.
Hi Coach, welcome to the K rock world. Rolling Quartz has actually finished their European tour recently, where it is becoming increasingly well-known. This band is very fun to watch, and their live performance is really awesome. I would recommend you to check out its live version of "Fearless", hope u enjoy!!
Cool, thanks!
Welcome to the fandom. Diadem (Diamonds) This group blew me away, and I'm not easily swayed. I'm an OG Rocker from the early 60's. These talented Ladies get it. Jayoung (Lead Vocalist) has one of the best voices of all time. Please feature more...You will not be disappointed. Azalea should be next.. They will surprise you guys!
Azalea is a cover of a classic korean rock song and normally I'd recommend originals rather than covers, but this is the big exception, imo. Very much worth checking out.
"Fearless" and "Stand up" from them... If you think you can handle it...
You should check out their last two songs: Fearless & Stand Up
The girls were playing live next to my hometown in Costa Mesa California. A very talented band and incredible lead vocalist. I highly recommend checking her version of Nirvana's iconic song "Smells Like Teen Spirit"!
Rolling Quartz! These girls are great indeed... There is another band, called QWER, "softer" than Rolling Quartz and Dreamcatcher, but worth the listening... "QWER opening stage live | Full ver." This one is kinda long, but there are shorter videos of live performances... Ferris Wheel I LIVE CLIP is their latest video...
I found them roughly a month ago now and have listened to them every day since. I saw one interview where they were talking about how difficult it is to find musicians in Korea who are interested in rock music, so I’m glad they found each other. Their behind the scenes stuff is worth checking out too. As for what songs to listen to next, there’s no bad choice, but I’d say “Fearless” if you want an original or “Azalea” if you want a cover.
My long waited reaction is here.🎉💯💖👏✨🎊thank you for the Rolling Quartz reaction. You're gonna love thier music. Hope to see more.
I highly recommend checking out Holler and Azalea by them! Azalea is based on a famous poem in Korea written around the time of a huge governmental change, so it holds a lot of meaning. The way they adapted it is soooo good.
Yeongeun, the drummer, likes to drum barefoot, and it is featured in most of their mv's. She also teaches drums, and one of her students is Handong from Dreamcatcher. their cover of DC's Good Night is very much worth checking out
I saw these ladies live in Chicago. A small venue, but they blew the roof off !! #rollingquartz
Rolling Quartz 💎 are touring Australia 🇦🇺 this September 2024. I bought my ticket for their Melbourne show *yesterday*. Can't wait to see the RQ ladies Live ! ☺️
Hey, if Dreamcatcher or Rolling Quartz come in concert you have to go see them and be surprised how many people go.
They’re another one of my favorite groups to they also did a Collab with a solo singer called Alexa. She’s also fantastic.
Azalea and Reminiscence are two covers/tributes they’ve done that are phenomenal.
Azalea is one of the best songs I’ve seen in the last year or so.
And since you liked the drummer, you have to do Azalea…. I believe the official music video, from their world heritage site!
RQ's latest song is "Stand Up", "Fearless" is also really good. "Azalea" is softer, not my fave, your mileage may vary. They covered Dreamcatcher's "Good Night". Iree (the red haired guitarist) covered Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Scuttle Buttin". They collaborated with kpop idol AleXa to do a rock version of AleXa's "Xtra" and again to do a rock style BTS/BlackPink mashup "Pink Drop" (from Pink Venom & Mic Drop). The purple haired faerie drummer is YeongEun. Vocalist is JaYoung. Fierce bass player is Arem. The blue-haired (very technical) guitarist is HyunJung
You could check out what I believe is the OG k-rock female-led group: Cherry filter. They hit it big in the early 2000's with the song "Romantic Cat" also known as "Sweet Little Kitty".
Oh man when they came out, I had this song in repeat so much. I think they'd get more recognition if they weren't so overshadowed by the phenomenal jrock and the extremely popular kpop.
Between the Japanese rock & metal bands, The Warning from Mexico, and now RQ with K-Rock, the ladies are killing it!
I only discovered Rolling Quartz recently as well, and I'm looking forward to seeing them in Sydney in September on their Australian tour.
For a different take on their style, try Reminiscence.
This really is a good band so glad you finally got to them.
Please 'Fearless' next!
It's one of their latest song❤
Thank you for reacting to Rolling Quartz. These "K-Rock" bands don't get quite the attention their Japanese counterparts do. They have a catalog to choose from. But one of my favorites they've done is "Reminiscence". It's their tribute to a Korean rock band popular in the '70s. Not only does it really allow Jayoung to show off what she can do with her voice, but she also showcases her piano skills. For another all female K-Rock band, check out DIH. Not as well known, but great sound!
Reminiscence - th-cam.com/video/L_YooJt_ewU/w-d-xo.html
Rolling Quartz:
Jayoung - Lead Vocal, Piano/Keyboard
Hyunjung - Guitar (blue hair)
Iree - Guitar (orange hair)
Arem - Bass
Yeong Eun - Drums
Thank you! 😊
I just went to DIH's channel and they are just amazing !!! I'm now a sub. They have a great sound !! Thanks !
I'm a big fan of Rolling Quartz. They obviously don't have the technical skill of a band like LOVEBITES, but they do have a good sound and are (in my opinion) the single hottest band on the planet. Every one of them is stunningly gorgeous.
My favourite song from them is "Azalea", which is a cover of the famous (in Korea) original by Maya, a legendary Korean female rock singer. The song "Azalea" is based on a poem that every Korean student learns in school, which was written over 100 years ago. The poem is disguised as a story between two lovers, but in reality it was a political story criticising the occupying Japanese forces. This cover by Rolling Quartz was released to celebrate the 100 year anniversay of the original poem.
Here's the video: th-cam.com/video/EVbR7F2YgNQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing this information.
I believe Dreamcatcher is the 1st to start the rock sound for girl groups. FYI Rolling Quartz did a cover from Dreamcatcher (Good Night) must check it out, but 1st hear Dreamcatcher's MV then Rolling Quartz. Thank you again for all of your K-pop reactions ❤
Thanks for the info!
Thank you for reacting to Rolling Quartz. They are doing fairly well for a Korean Rock band, especially considering how saturated the Korean Music scene is with pop music. DIH is another great Korean Rock band that you might find interesting and is often overlooked. The Fix is another K-rock band with a lot of talent. I know that I'm forgetting several more, but that is all I can remember at this point, I need more coffee. Both of you take care and have an awesome week.
Thanks for the info!
The minute I saw you were going to react to Rolling Quartz, I knew it wouldn't be a "Krock", lololololol. These ladies ae truly fire !!! The comparisons to Band Maid are definitely deserved. The first song of theirs that I heard was "Fearless" and I KNOW you will also be blown away like I was. "Azalea" is another great track and they did a great cover of the Italian band Maneskin's hit "Zitti E Buoni". Vocalist Jaeyoung even learned some Italian so she could do it properly. I found out about these ladies just AFTER they finished their 2023 US Tour. Welcome to the mine where you can dig out your "Rolling Quartz".
As @snakewhisperer1 mentioned, check out the K-rock band DIH, yet another great female band from Asia. I just watched the video for their song "Not Enough" and it is fie !!!!
😁 Thanks for the info. We will do more for sure.
Formed from the remnants of two bands, "Rolling Girlz" and "Rose Quartz".
Arem: bass
Hyunjung: guitar {blue hair}
Iree: guitar {red hair}
Jayoung: vocals
Yeongeun: drums
Have a lot of great stuff, including classic covers. Their cover of Dreamcatcher's "Good Night" is favorite and routinely part of their set. The M/V was directed by one of the videographers that originally worked on "Good Night". -- However, don't think you can fully appreciate the interpretation if haven't done the Nightmare Series. Also, have a collaboration with AleXa, where they rocked up her song "Xtra" a bit.
The holes only get deeper.
Good background info. Thank you!
I love Rolling Quartz. Their songs are great and the members are really talented. The only thing that I thought was holding them back was that their songs were mixed like pop songs. For their most recent comeback, Stand Up, eiither they changed engineers or the one they have finally learned how to mix a rock song, 'cause it absolutely slaps!
Good to know. That song has been mentioned a few times.
great thanx my fav RQ song is reminisense also AZALEA
Good reaction. Great band. Did see them live this year. Nice ladies. Good live band. Had a VIP ticket. Have a nice photo with the band and a signed cd of the song Fearless. Another great song. They did a cover of Good Night. A song by Dreamcatcher. Another korean band to watch Dreamcatcher is kpop with rock and metal sound. Maybe a double reaction from Good Night from both bands. Thanks for this reaction.
Thanks for watching. 👍
While Rolling Quartz is a fairly new band, I think they're a step above Babymetal in that they play their own instruments.
While they may not rock as hard as the all-female Japanese bands we love, you have to consider that South Korea is only beginning to explore other forms of music, like rock and heavy metal. Rock n' roll and heavy metal isn't big in South Korea, so these girls can be considered the pioneers of hard rock in their country.
Personally, they grew on me and I'm now pretty much a fan.
You should listen to "Pink Drop", their mashup of BTS's "Mic Drop" and BlackPink's "Pink Venom", with Alexa, an American singer based in South Korea: th-cam.com/video/geSy4yOLfl8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0xqbm2QE7JdLErAR
❤️🔥
You found the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow. Well, someone had to say it. One odd factoid I came across is that Jayoung was vocal coach for Suhye of Limelight (also an excellent singer) who of course are somewhere on your list to react to.
Very interesting. The list is enormous. LOL
Great reaction Coach & Mrs Coach! I only discovered this band recently. Love Rolling Quartz 💎 ! #KRock
Here are a few of my favourite RQ 💎 songs that have a Music Video. They're well worth a look.

* [MV] "Stand Up" by Rolling Quartz (New Single)

* "Youth Gone Wild" (Skid Row) by Rolling Quartz (Color Live) .
Appreciate this info. 🙏
@@CoachCastTV Reminiscence is remake of an older song by Korean rock group Sanulrim/Sanullim. One of the OG's of Sanullim sought out Rolling Quartz to be a part of their 50-year anniversary. In a behind-the-scenes, he gushingly told the ladies that his song is now a 4/5, and their remake is a 5/5 (which had the ladies blushing and almost speechless). He also makes a cameo in the mv also (looking like a proud papa). Vocalist Jayoung also plays piano in that MV.
@@InSomniEric Ah, that sounds very cool. Good for them.
Diadem forever here; I absolutely love Rolling Quartz. I saw them live in Seattle and they killed it; Jayoung is a legit rock powerhouse that knows how to get the audience fired up. Also they are the sweetest people ever. They are based out of a little basement venue in Seoul but are making international inroads with appearances in the US, Canada, Europe, the Philippines and soon Australia. They don't have a ton of original material yet, but everything they do including covers is stellar! Check out Azalea, Reminiscence, Fearless, and Stand Up. They are a must-see if they play anywhere near you, and by near I mean in the same country :)
The Korean rock scene is often ignored, but it is alive and there are many quality bands to reward investigation. My close second favorite besides Rolling Quartz is a gritty all-female 4-piece called Walking After U (try "Karma" for starters). I also highly recommend DIH, Vincit, Clownus, Audios Audio, Yudabinband, Danggisio, Drinking Boys and Girls Choir, Fishingirls, Xdinary Heroes, YB, and special mention for TOUCHED. Although recently losing their lead guitarist, TOUCHED are a force to be reckoned with. They have won several band competitions including The Great Seoul Invasion TV show, but the biggest draw is their lead singer Jo Yunmin, who is legitimately my favorite singer on the planet right now. She is currently on a seven-consecutive-win rampage through the Korean version of Masked Singer (shhh, we are not supposed to know who she is yet). I subscribed to Kocowa just to watch.
Great info. Thanks for sharing more about this band.
Try Fearless by them.
Yes! Rolling Quartz! This is fire, been hoping you guys would get around to this band. It would have been a real KROCK if you missed them (I know, I know). And yes, whoever does their videos agrees with Coach about Yeong Eun, she tends to feature quite a lot. Seen some great comments already with some great suggestions for your next RQ-song, so I'm just going to throw my hat in there and say: Fearless (Live) - th-cam.com/video/ezczi7VMMNQ/w-d-xo.html
As always, I can't leave a comment without making a few more requests:
Aespa - Girls: th-cam.com/video/dYRITmpFbJ4/w-d-xo.html
We appreciate these and the word of the day!
I'd suggest listening to their latest release " Stand Up ' which IMHO is a tad more poppy but catchy ( someone else has linked it in their comment ) but I'm a bit worried about Coach's blood pressure if he watches it 🤣😉
😁 BP is great but appreciate you looking out for me. 👍
@@CoachCastTV You haven't seen the video yet ! 🤣
Take care coach this one is a banger, in more ways than one..
@@grantnealon5101 That sounds like one we'll have to do. 😂
Fearless MV is a good one too
So if Dreamcatcher is kpop with rock sound and Rolling Quartz is krock with idol visuals and approach to promotion then the next step fully into krock is Messgram. My Second Funeral is my favorite by Messgram, but Rockstars is a slightly more approachable place to start.
Love rolling quartz, they got me intok krock. If you want to expand your knowledge in the scene, check out Kardi and DIH
Here is an excellent female group made up of 5 great musicians with a slight preference for Yeongeun the drummer and Jayoung who has a superb voice. Try "Rock and roll paradise" with a beautiful drum solo. On the other hand, I made a comment to you on your reaction to Lovebites (Raise some hell) which you kindly described as "great" and I thank you for that. I will try to be as relevant by advising you to react to their absolute masterpiece, in my opinion and many others, "Frozen Serenade". You risk being speechless and totally dazzled. And this masterpiece confirms for me that these young women are the best group and the best twin guitars in the history of metal. Enjoy.
Thanks so much. We appreciate the guidance.
I love your reactions so much! You guys have such a great dynamic 😄 I know you guys have been reacting to a lot of kpop recently which I love but I wanted to ask if you could react to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter? It came out only 2 weeks ago and it’s already a huge hit, I think you guys will enjoy it. The music video is very fun. No worries though if you guys are too busy right now with your other reactions 😊 Just thought I’d recommend it!
Thank you so much!! We have such a huge backlog of stuff but always appreciate the suggestions for new artists (new to us). Thank you!
More Krocks please.. other Korean bands you can check out, which I can remember for now.
Which I'll edit more if i remember more..
DiH, Kardi, The Fix, Walking After U, FT Island, Day6, Bursters(not sure if they're still around).
Thanks. We didn't even know this was a thing.
@@CoachCastTV it's not really a thing, they're just being overshadowed by the K-pop
@@iQiLefty Makes sense...we know that K-pop is huge at the moment and has been for some time.
I'm so glad.
I love Rolling Quartz, The Warning, BAND-MAID...and so on, too.
Thank you for the reaction.
And let me recommend another K-ROCK girls band, DIH. Their songs, "Not Enough" and "Break Out", are also very worth to listen.
By the way, the new song of "The Warning" Band, "Qué Más Quieres", is very goooood👍
Talking about jrock, i like the band "TRiDENT". Their drummer is brilliant.
Unfortunately, I think they need a new vocal. They did good in MV, but usually sounds break her throat in lives.😅 The song "CONTINUE" is I recommend of them.
Thank you. There's seldom talks about metal music in Taiwan, especially girls band. So thank you very much.
We truly appreciate your generosity. This is great info. A few months ago we had no idea any of this existed. What a fun journey! 😁
@@CoachCastTV yeah, so many things to explore. Just carry on by your heart💕
@@666lyb6 Will do. Thanks for being with us.
Guys, I love Rolling Quartz, but if you like K-Pop with a rock sound, there is really only one group to listen to, and that is Dreamcatcher. Rolling Quartz actually do a great cover of a Dreamcatcher song - Good Night. You should give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
We have 3 from them on the channel and did like them. 👍
@@CoachCastTV But you've left us wanting on further Dreamcatcher reactions.
@@kevindean0000 We'll definitely try to get back to them. So much content...so little time.
@@CoachCastTV As a coach, sometimes you need to rally. 😜
@@kevindean0000 🤣
Shoulda did Good Night 💤
Please reaction to ZICO AND JENNIE COLLAB (SPOT)
Actual K-rock band as Rolling Quartz, rock in K-pop actually more popular by Dreamcatcher, kinda surprised you found rock in K-pop by Itzy
We've done 3 Dreamcatcher reactions and really liked them. We had a recent reaction to ITZY that stood out and is Coach's favorite K-pop song due to the rock sound.
@@CoachCastTV ah maybe I misunderstood the wording that been spoken. Sorry then, sometimes all of sudden my brain doesn't work properly 🤣
No worries. Sometimes Coach's mouth doesn't either. LOL
lol they completely forgot about dc. Guess they weren’t too taken. Rolling quartz is good though I like them too
We haven't forgotten about them just have far too much content for the time we have available.
Hmmmm, I think I might like K-Rock a lot better than I like K-Pop.
hello, can you please react to RM's new album "Right place, wrong person" out on friday may 24th . RM is a rapper and member of BTS
Don't forget the pigeon-hole.....
Next reaction on world's biggest boyband BTS.
