Matsumoto Persimmon Taste Test, and yes, Ada is still bad!

  • Last fall we planted a small Matsumoto Persimmon Tree at ‪@foreverfoodsfarm‬ in the backyard where the chickens free range. This whole year it did not grow in size (I know...root development) but it did successfully produce two persimmons. I've been watching these grow all summer and was curious if they would make it or not - and they did! I waited for a week of frost to let them ripen up a little further before taking a taste. Verdict - DELICIOUS! Loved it and can't wait for this tree to grow and produce many more! We purchased the persimmon tree from ‪@ediblelandscaping‬ in Nelson County, VA. Such a great place for edible plants. Forever Foods Farm. November 23, 2022.

Thanks for the video. I have several fuyu persimmons. I’m in Northeast Florida. My trees are young and have only given a few fruit but I bought this matsomoto one and I was curious if it really is non-astringent because I won’t buy an astringent variety it’s not worth it to me. Hope your tree survived another year and gave you another couple pieces of fruit. I know how hard it is to not let them fruit.

I think they both taste the same. I planted a fuyu a few years back and the fuyu part died but the root stock lived. So far for me and my neglectful gardening skills I’m loving the Matsumoto!
