Awesome tips for sure! 1. Find your style (360 all the time, or slow motion for example) 2. Select your shots, think about how you want to shoot and utilize the footage first, and stay steady 3. Bridge the gap (what’s the story in your travel vlog?) 4. What will save you the most time: use a timer in editing your videos!
I love to do this because I want to inspire people to travel. Coz traveling is the best education you can get & It teaches you the way of life. Each place has a different culture and each person has a story to tell. In total travel makes you a complete human!
I want to materialize memories in someway, to keep emotions and breathtaking views on camera. And after years I can see the wonderful adventures I had. I can show them to my kids. I can inspire other people to travel and exprece themselfs. Thank you for your amazing tips and work :)
I just quit my job as analyst at a bank. I spent the last 10 years there while making some extra money on the side as a local musician. Now I'm moving to Thailand in two months. I enjoy the beauty of any creative process; whether it's song writing, drawing, catching a good photo, or video editing. My goal is to make creativity my life. I hope that some day I can make a career out of putting together moments that can touch people's emotions.
Our motivation is exactly what you mentioned. We have jobs that don't tap into our creative side and making travel videos is one way to get that part of our brain going. Thanks for all your super useful tips.
I create travel videos as my own virtual diary. I have my written diary with my thoughts, feelings and memories while my travel videos help me really reply and relive those moments. The two combined will help me never forget how lucky I am
As a landscape and travel photographer, I create videos on location to inspire people to grab their camera and get out and shoot photos. I’m doing this to share the stories behind my images and build a community of like minded creatives. Awesome tips here Thomas, I do many of them but the bonus tip of time boxing the editing is one I’m going to try and do for my next video, cheers mate!
My First Travel Video shot on mobile... Love to have your feedback! #chalakudy #kerala #mobilevideo #thelonerider th-cam.com/video/VF_ApD-VOU0/w-d-xo.html
My motivation is give people the inside look of what curiosity they might have. Culture, is a big thing for me so I look forward into being around the heart of a country and what makes them unique.
Thomas, you inspired me... I don't have much money to invest, but I love what I do and thank you for showing me what I want for my career my life!Thank you, professor!
Mate not filming everything is by far the most important tip! Travel filmmakers can easily get lost in forgetting to actually be present and travel. There's certain times when batteries are flat and when your gear isn't around you, and I think that happens for a reason! No need to rush back and get another camera, just leave it and live out the adventure! The right moments will present themselves to be on! and you're camera will be there. Thanks for sharing Thomas, love your work
I’m a senior citizen and I just started a new hobby, vlogging. I figure it’ll be good to keep my mind busy creatively. Who knows where this will lead me? At least my travel photos and videos will not just be filed away unseen.
Thanks so much for your help!! My reason for making a vlogg is because i love to get outdoors...I see so many things, hiking traveling and camping...I want to be able to share with my family friends and others. I hope to inspire others my age ( im old!) its never to late to get off that couch and see the beauty around us...Cant wait to start
I am traveling to 8 different countries in Europe over the course of five months and I am looking forward to sharing my experience with films!! This vid is great and motivates me even more. thank you :)
I honestly just want to capture time as it is. I love taking small video clips daily of just random stuff. Whether it's friends chatting on the couch, or just my empty apartment, things change so much and I would like to look back. Same with my travels, I want to remember everything and see and hear my friends and loved ones!
Oh Gawd...You just described everything I did on a 34 day trip in the north of Australia. I wish I'd seen your videos before I started that trip. EVERYTHING you said to do was what I didn't do. Cheers Thomas for awesome advice. 😊
My main motivation for making travel videos is because I want to motivate others to travel and see the world. I want them to see how awesome different cultures and other people are. So that they can see were not really all that different.
You need to make more videos man, I've learnt so much from you. I'm going on a trip soon and will apply the principles I have learnt from you and hopefully come up with something decent.
I am a person who comes from.a middle class background. But I love traveling like anything. I want to do travel videography so that I can travel the whole world. Yours video was really helpful. Thank you.
Just found this video and it's awesome to see how many filmmakers are sharing their creative work here on youtube! also great tips ins this video, i think it will help upcoming filmmakers a lot!
I traveled quite a bit on my own when I was single, now I have 2 kids and a husband and my inspiration to making travel videos is for my when they get older to go back and watch those (awesome) videos "mom made when we were kids and travel as a family" kind of thing.
Hey Thomas, thank you for your tips. My motivation is, that while editing it feels like I am on vacation again. I love it and its a fun and relaxing time for me :-) Best regards and safe travels, Stefan
My motivation and inspiration to make travel videos is purely just to share my amazing experiences with my family and friends about my trip! Thank you for the tips. I'm going on holiday in. 13 days and I'll definitely be using these!
I went to Cuba back in February, and I recorded hours worth of footage while I was there. I still haven't gotten around to editing a lot though because I feel so overwhelmed with how much footage I have. I'm going to try the "Use a timer" technique, and see if that helps me get through it. Wish me luck! -Michael
I’ve build a passion for creating and sharing a story. I also enjoy saving memories. Some day, I will sit back as an old man and be able to look back at my wife and I travel adventures and feel happy about it. We enjoy adventures.
Hey, so I'm just on a trip and I need your help! After making a few videos I have figured that my films need way more faces. But the problem is should I film myself or just random people around me? Both is not that great I think because if you have a lot of random people you can't really tell a story that's going to be Interessent the whole video but I also have no camera man to film me and the dudes I travel with are not that interested in film so any Tipps? I'm really struggling with this...
I just ordered my first camera online, a Panasonic G85. Agh so happy! I can't wait to start taking pictures and making videos/vlogging. I am setting off to travel for the next at least 6 months - Bali, then India then the Philippines - basically south east asia. I am new to everything when it comes to this topic, can't wait to learn, create an travel. I am a yoga practitioner and international traveling yoga instructor. Thank you for this video. Namaste!
Motivation for me: beeing able to see all amazing memories of my trip in a short and simple way (rather than having a thousand photos on ly computer that I never check out)
I want to showcase how awesome the world is, starting off with showing the amazing landscape of Scotland! We focus too much on materialistic things, I want to encourage people to get out in nature and enjoy the views! Nature is incredible, and we're so lucky to be able to experience it, but many people miss out.
Starting new, but my reason to get started with travel videos is literally to travel as much as I can, capture everything interesting to me and document it the best way 😃
I am leaving my 9-5 job to make travel video. I feel like 9-5 is a prison life and I like traveling and what I always love to do and at the same time if I can make video for youtube that would be great.
My motivation is my family. I'm in the navy and I know they would love to be with me and since they can't this could help them stay with me even though they aren't actually there with me.
I have been traveling since 17 years old but I never made any video now I'm 23 but this time I'll start making vlogs, I'm the bloody inspiration for my self.i love traveling bcz u meet so many amazing people around the world, we share beautiful stories with each other. Moreover I learn a lot while traveling
I am an illustrator who had the chance to take two back-to-back trips. Not only did these trips helped me, but they also influenced my art. I want to be able to encourage other artists bogged down by everyday life to get out once in a while and enjoy their surroundings. There's just too little time in this world to look at the world with the same cloudy mindset. Going cross country and heading to the Caribbean was the best refresher to date.
It's always interesting to have not only pictures from a trip, but something more. When you have tons of random videos, it's boring to watch them. But when you have 2-3 mins of a selected content - it brings you back to the trip and it's a really good memories. That's why I try to make such travel videos :)
Thank you so much for this! I know you made this video 2 years ago. But this is some really helpful stuff! I have wanted to make a vlog about traveling for a long time! It actually took me listening to Jeremy Cowart to realize that this was something that I really needed to start doing! The reason I want to make a travel vlog is for a couple of different reason. 1. Show people the world! So many people have never traveled and its something that I want to do and allow others to see too. 2. Help people learn about different cultures 3. I want to make enough money to pay for my travels I am a broke College student I don't have money, most of the money I made is used traveling 4. I love to travel and I want to remember my adventures! Thank you so much for all these tips! I really appreciate it!
Perfect timing! I've been binge watching ur vids cuz I'm about to leave for a vocation and am planing to make a video about it. I've learned a lot from u, keep it up man love ur vids
That sucks dude!! Mind checking out mine?! I think there's a site where you can download music that isn't copyright so you can add cool music to your vids.
You need to have your own style like Alex Norman, Nas Daily, Sam Kolder, Rob Whitworth etc to be known. Alex, I'm a silent reader in your emails and here for few months now. Pls visit Philippines. Love yah xoxo
Dude, i really like how you talk all about these psychological stuff like being confident and relaxed rather than going pure technical. I think this is the first step to really get someone doing such a cool thing like video editing. Can't wait for my ski trip to France and capture some moments, tho i only have a gopro 6.
Thanks for the tips, it really helps. I just finished filming my very first travel video and I was very shy and awkward on the videos that I took shots of the surroundings more than myself. What makes me want to start making travel video is that I have always been not confident enough with myself on making decision in my life without doubting myself so I've decided to start pushing my limits these days to do something that I always thought about wanting to do but was too afraid to do , I hope in a few more videos coming up from my channel I can see myself growing better to be more confident with myself and not afraid of accepting challenges to improve myself .
Fantastic tips. Just doing it a lot is they key. Dude, come to Poland sometimes. I make travel videos from here, would love to show you around. Who's 🇵🇱 watching this channel? :D
I’ve always wanted to start my own travel channel but was so scared of judgment or confusion with editing/camera gear. This video was so helpful and inspiring! Thank you!
I just took random photos and videos not knowing what or why I was until I found out about film making and when I tried it, I new that that was exactly what I wanted to do
I'm a Bulgarian folklore dancer and soon, with my group, we'll be going on tour in Macao. I will tour with them for the first time ever, so I want to capture the dynamics of performing, traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Thanks for the tips :)
I've always been into visuals and music but always stopped myself from being creative within it. I like travel videos because instead of a photo album, it captures the entirety of the trip, candid moments, real moments and it gives you that sensational feeling with the music pumping in the background. I am travelling to South Asia soon to get in touch with my roots and I want to combine my appreciation for the culture with my love for travel videos. I've never in my life been near as creative as this, and I'm not sure whether or not I'm gonna go through with it, but I hope your video will help me.
I use a canon g7x!! Not waterproof but gives a ton of flexibility on the shots you want to get with the settings. And small and compact to carry around. Plus it has a viewfinder!
Thanks for the tips :) we're studying about editing videos so we can let people know about our country (Portugal) and enjoy it as most as possible! All advice is good at this point! It can be a little overwhelming figuring out how to start: best equipment, best editing tools... and then putting all up together! Cheers!!
I travel about twice a year. I love to express and share my travels and give advice to first time travelers. I would love to use my travel channel as a creative outlet .
Thank you so much for this video. Im new to film making and My motivation to make travel videos is to create a memory of the places I've been to and to relive them later. To show them to my children and to rewatch them in a few decades. Thanks again!
My motivation = partly mid-life crisis but mostly my passion for walking in London, and a desire to capture that, as you said in your previous video, with some form of purpose. I am a total noob but loving your advice and guidance.
Our motivation is to capture memories that are easily accessible to our children. We also love the idea of sharing our moments with others! Great video, thanks!
Awesome tips for sure!
1. Find your style (360 all the time, or slow motion for example)
2. Select your shots, think about how you want to shoot and utilize the footage first, and stay steady

💯
haha, oh shit, nailed it. this video says nothing.
what do you mean by timer in editing videos??
Moorissa Meritseba Tjokro what app do you usually use to edit your videos?
thank you!

I do it because I like capturing those special moments and I enjoy being creative. I was always the videoagrapher in the family😏
Traveling to Indonesia tomorrow, want to capture some moments and make a beautiful travel diary full of memories
My motivation so darn simple! Enjoy life before it leaves me.
I wanna make a cool travel video so when I'm 80 I can watch it and say "Yeah. You lived a little."
I'm with you - same for me! Hopefully I can make it to 80!!!
That's kinda beautiful
I just enjoy the travel and want to share it with everybody. And I being creative when putting it all together.
I love looking back at the hard work and memory that I made
I'm with you!

I'm studying abroad this summer in Malta and I'm doing a travel journal, so I want to kinda do that same thing with a video
2. Help people learn about different cultures
3. I want to make enough money to pay for my travels
I am a broke College student I don't have money, most of the money I made is used traveling
Orton yeah same here
How'd the video go man?!
Life of Pez got a lot of good feedback but the video got taken down because i used copyrighted music
That sucks dude!! Mind checking out mine?! I think there's a site where you can download music that isn't copyright so you can add cool music to your vids.
Life of Pez id have to start from scratch because my vid was edited to the beats on the song I chose. Yeah sure I'll check out your vid
My reason for travel vlogging is to see the world and since i homeschool my daughter, we will be able to give her on location learning.
It looks like you filmed this at the pagoda in north London on hampstead heath , never been there but it looks flamiliar some how
every tips mentioned make sense! thanks! There was once when I ended up not editing at all because of not timing.
You need to have your own style like Alex Norman, Nas Daily, Sam Kolder, Rob Whitworth etc to be known. Alex, I'm a silent reader in your emails and here for few months now. Pls visit Philippines. Love yah xoxo

I was wondering if anyone has any advise on buying a proper, but cheaper, stabiliser for iPhone 7.. lets say between 50-100 dollars.
i love traveling which make me feel better
Hey Thomas. I was wondering what's best to use to edit the travel videos?
DaVinci Resolve
Filip Is this a free software without watermarks? And is it any good for beginners? :)
My motivation for travel videos are to share my experiences with the world and to save and treasure these memories forever!
Please! What is the song/music at 2:45 (the dog scene?). It is so intimate :)
Did you found the song Buddy ?

I am travelling to South Asia soon to get in touch with my roots and I want to combine my appreciation for the culture with my love for travel videos. I've never in my life been near as creative as this, and I'm not sure whether or not I'm gonna go through with it, but I hope your video will help me.
Hello guys, İ would like to start recording travel videos, but İ do not know what kind of camera to buy. Could you give me an advice?
A Go Pro is great for travel videos, it's small & portable, water proof, and good quality!!
Cheers!!
What was the music you used with the shots with the dog
Lewis Francis also wanna know the name of the song 😫
Samuel Kowalski I can't find it anywhere😩

Ecepta - Baby (from description)

I travel about twice a year. I love to express and share my travels and give advice to first time travelers. I would love to use my travel channel as a creative outlet .
Any good edit programs to edit your travel video for free on a windows pc?

Thank you so much for this video. Im new to film making and My motivation to make travel videos is to create a memory of the places I've been to and to relive them later. To show them to my children and to rewatch them in a few decades. Thanks again!
I WILL NOT LEAVE A COMMENT!!
LOL😜
Great tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
Get chicks.
I love traveling and want to tell my story through travel! Travel off the beaten path and show others how to do the same! Thanks for the great tips!
Definitely took some notes and hope to work on these tips on the next trip!
Thanks for such an informative video! I learnt a lot !
