- You have questions, I pretend to have answers. A short explanation of how I built my underwater Seaview base.
The Structures Plus (S+) mod provides exceptionally powerful tools for underwater building, allowing you to easily incorporate other mods into your build. This is a short "How To" video that shows you how to leverage those tools, and gives you a heads up about a few limitations and how to work around them.

You made this a long time ago and I love the video and your narration and build. I made a base and see that the swirlies in the air stay no matter what I do. Would you consider making an updated video about the S+ vacuum pieces? It seems silly if that's the only change in all this time.

This is the first underwater build video I've seen, and I'm just starting to think about doing an underwater base, so it's all new to me. My question is, how do you enter and exit the structure underwater? Great video by the way. :)
Thanks Elaine! One of the underwater building pieces you have to work with is a moon pool, which gives you access into your underwater base. It is basically and opening in the floor. If you are using the Structures + mod more options are available as you can basically substitute in any building component (door/hatch/etc.) you like in the S+ vacuum cubes walls/floors/ceilings as shown in this video.

You may have solved a BIG problem I have (If it works!).
I'm building a base in or under (If possible.) on the Island map where the red pool is. Now I wanted to try and make a cellar that was underwater but looking at ARK, I could work it out. But after seeing this video, I think I can now achieve it.
I'm using the new Castles & Keeps MOD and I want to be able to enter the cellar by a normal convention. ie. Using stairs. I've never used these underwater cubes so will look into it tomorrow and let you know if it works. I hope so, as these cubes will stop me using hundreds of the C&K foundations.

My pleasure Krusty. Agreed, but along that line he did come up with some force walls of various sizes that allow you and your tames through but block anything or anyone else... so there is that to experiment with.
VIRTUAL REALMS yeah I've been fooling around with that today in single player and I just could not get it to look right I've tried doing like a staggered deal on the two different snap points using a frame one of the Dual door frames and it didn't work and with just the regular wall sitting in place of where the door and frame would be it just don't look right because it's kind of funky almost like it needs a border
You seem like a amazing builder i just wish someone would do a step by step build so i could do one bc im not creative at all lol.
I remember discovering an airpocket in the lake near the green obelisk on "the Island' back before they patched that. I discovered how to build under the lava and swim in the lava without dying. (Eat narco berries then jump into the air above lava, pass out mid air, and you'd wake up in the lava unharmed. I found how to fall beneath the map into the "world sea" and swim around anywhere and teleport anywhere from there lol. Did you know you could jump from the sky-barrier and land on a player's wall (wall not built wall, but the thin wall structure itself) and live, not die from the fall? The wall had no physics for your landing lol.
So ... soooo many tricks.

Thanks Shawn! I'm not where I can double check at the moment, but to my knowledge this has not been fixed. I'm not sure it can be.
If and until that happens I would still suggest inlaying any floors you want to use over the "force field" floors in your larger rooms. That can get a bit fiddly if you want to make changes, but you shouldn't have too much difficulty. You'll still have the metal frame around each 2X2 section, but a little paint beforehand can help make those not as noticeable.
That is fine then. When I reach Tek Tier i'll use these tricks to make a base, while keeping in mind that draining will keep floaties in two-wall high rooms.
Also, care to make a video in the future about building on a motorboat using structures+?
Question... I've returning after a long break and just learning about the underwater units. I know the basic wildcard ones require tek, so I wanted to verify if the structures plus ones do as well.
That's a good question, I already had everything unlocked before I did anything with the S+ cubes. Typically with this mod I'd say yes, but I can't confirm that. I'd recommend checking on the mod authors workshop page. It can be found here:

There needs to be a new mod where you can make decorations like how it was in Bioshock.
Honestly, this was a very helpful video for making an underwater base.
When I saw flood cube I thought that it meant flood the whole base.

I wanna build a flat floor on top of the water what mod should I use
Is there a possible way to achieve the same thing without mods like build the majority of your house the floors and walls and roof and then just surround it with vacuum compartments tied up against your house to block out the water
which mode do u use? I mean... I also want that nice looking interior decorations :D
The list of mods I use is in the description of the video, but to narrow it down most of the decor came from the Pimp My Home mod, as well as some touches from the various eco's mods in my list.
AWESOME VIDEO! Loved all the extras. Im so surprised theres not more of these types of videos with S+. Is it possible to just build a huge dome out of the cubes (outer walls and ceiling only. Just think of the vacuum cube like a concrete block) and then drain the entire Middle of the dome or do I have to place cubes all throughout the center of the dome? I tried and drain all connected didn't work
Heya! Unless something has changed with S+ since this video was created you'd have to place cubes throughout the center as well. Fortunately you can make all of those interior walls go away fairly easily, or you could leave some key areas open (without cubes) if you want to leave an interior space open as an aquarium of sorts.

You need to "Open Porthole" on each side separately, and do the same for the top and bottom if you want it to disappear entirely.
VIRTUAL REALMS ok great that worked! Wow wouldn’t this be a great place for the mode gone to work? Have you heard anything from the structures plus guy about making it so that we can use a utility gun for that? Or maybe there’s another way to speed up that repetitive task?
Although I haven't used it, they did add something called an "Underwater Tool" a little while back. You might check it out and see what it can do (I'm not in a position to do so myself at the moment). I believe Structures + is one of those mods where you need to update any bookmark you may have to their spawn command list after they do an update, otherwise you go to an old copy that doesn't contain the new spawn commands. pasted.co/07b44265

I feel like its probably obvious, but how did you manage wood flooring underwater? I can't seem to figure it out with the mods.
The wood flooring is from the Pimp My Home Construction Parts mod. Many of the ceiling pieces allow you to change either the top or the top and bottom textures. That really nice wood texture is one of them. Either add them with the bottom of the cube still in place, or remove the bottom forcefield of the cube, add the flooring, and then drain the water.
i had this mod but how do i spawn in the cubes??? what are the codes to spawn them??
I'm trying to get S+ on PS4. Is there a way to get that because I'm trying to find the sloped vacuum compartment to use for building underwater base!
i was fooling around in building an underwater base but is there a way to keep the base from flooding while using the S+ sloped vacuum-cubes? because when i use the normal S+ vacuum-cubes all around this doesn't seem to happen...
Whenever adding or removing walls/floors/ceilings to S+ sloped or S+ standard vacuum-cubes your base will flood. Fortunately the ability to clear that water from your entire base is just a right click away. Probably best to make all of those types of changes to your underwater base first before you start bringing down tames and such.
I am still getting the floaties no matter what I try, and I did everything suggested but no luck. Any ideas?
Conrad, this video was made quite some time ago on the island map. Since that time I have found that on other maps the floaties may not go away at all. I also need to try and build another underwater base on the island to see if some sort of change has occurred after this video was made as to how S+ handles the issue . If you're building on the island and still have them that might be the case.

Well Zenturio you'll either have to use a mod like Structures + (if you consider that cheating then of course that's not an option for you), or you will have to use the vanilla vacuum cubes which ultimately means you'll need element. The only other options for element, other than boss fights, would be acquiring it in Aberration. Here is a link that details the process. ark.gamepedia.com/Element

I don't understand it, my structure is only one cube wide in the halls but it still has the fuckin floaties. How the hell do you get rid of themmmmm?
Are all walls/ceilings/floors replaced with other building components, or is there a force field close to you. If so, try it with the floor still being the force field (you can still put ceilings into the frame over the top of the force field, but it would have the metal frame showing all around the edges).
Hopefully the update that S+ just released hasn't changed anything for the worse in that regard.
By force field, do you mean the force field wall available in the s+ pack? Or just the main wall of the vacuum cube? Do you mean to replace each wall with the forcefield?
I mean the main wall of each vacuum cube. You can place S+ or vanilla ceiling pieces into the 2X2 "frame" of a cube side while the "force field wall" of the cube is still on if you like. There will be a metal "frame" round it that you may or may not like, but the nearby presence of the force field (now hidden by the ceiling or wall pieces you inserted over it) is apparently the signal that turns the floaties on and off.
Your walls (ect) will look cleaner if you remove the force field walls, but if floaties are an issue (and you don't mind the metal showing around the edges) you can leave the force field on and simply cover it over.
Those high tek looking force "walls" he includes look cool, and they can be very handy, but they don't affect floaties.

This isnt very imformative you neever really showed how to build this underwater base.
The only thing I didn't show you how to do was stick the cubes on the ocean floor and to each other, which is just like placing foundations or anything else in ARK. I'm not sure what you are unclear on, but if you have a question I'll do my best to answer it for you.

I really don't see the point of decorating bases. It gives you no benefit for the extra cost and time.
It's not about benefit, it's about enjoying the game you are playing. Obviously in a PVP setting aesthetics are far less important than squeezing an extra layer of protection on your metal box, but even then folks can get pretty tired of looking at blank, featureless walls day after day.
Well, that and the fact that nothing says "You are not a threat to me" like a massive display of wealth and unnecessary ornamentation. :D
