The marble aspect is pretty hard to mess up. the only way I’ve ever done it was by going on too thick with coats or removing the baby wipe too early. If you don’t do those things you should be golden
That's really cool. I love the green color. Always wondered how to pull off marble. Hopefully not too many hairs stuck to the base when you pulled the wipe off!
That usually means that you did your coats too heavy or had the airbrush too close. Try backing off a bit and doing many very thin coats rather than a few thick ones
@@theminiaturemen40k I just found some swiffer sweeper dry sweeping cloths lying around, they stretch pretty good. Awesome video you made here, I think your effect is probably the best of everyone.
Great tutorial. I have tried it with varying levels of success. I feel I may not be putting down enough paint during the first phase or my "stencil" is not tight enough (that seems unlikely). More misses than hits right now.
I found that in my few misses I wasn’t putting down enough of the gray paint. The key for me was to do more thin coats. I’m sure the stencil is plenty tight
have wet wipes changed in last 2 years? Ive tried 3 different brands and they all tear now. I used to be able to use them for this many years ago. Dryer sheets still sheer...will try it tonight once dry...
One of the best marble bases I’ve seen. Thanks for the tip on sealing in the pigments, I’ve never seen this before, going to give this a try.
Thank you! Just make sure to go light on the thinner when sealing them too much and it can wash away the effect
That baby-wipe method is shockingly effective. Thank you!
That a really interesting technique with the baby wipe, what the hell!
I was planning to do green marble bases for a custodies army, glad I found this!
awesome!
Cool technique - you guys do the best basing videos.
Thank you!
Love it, I’m working up the courage to attempt my first forgeworld model, Roboute Guilliman, and that huge marble base is super intimidating.

I love this! I'm inspired to do this for a Blood Bowl team!

Any hairs that stick easily come off with tweezers
Super cool take on this - good job :)
Thank you!
When I airbrushed with the wipe on the base, I had a lot of bleed through that muddled the look.

These are gorgeous. Wonder if a dryer sheet would work similarly.,
I’d imagine they might, but I know that not all baby wipes nor dryer sheets are the same so it might take some trial and error
Great tutorial! Can’t wait to try this. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
Absolutely genius! This’ll help massively with my Custodes army!
If you look at our Instagram you can see some examples of these bases on our Custodes!
That's a really clever technique
Thank you!
Funny that you mention wanting someone to build a posh orc army. A friend of mine is doing that.
That’s awesome!!!
this will be excellent for my IW army theme of breaching the Imperial Palace.
Nice! That will be some good contrast
Genius. I can't believe I never thought of this. I feel like an idiot. Amazing.
Wow! That was unexpected! What neat method! 🔥🎸🔥
Huggies baby wipe doesn't work at all, breaks at even the gentlest of stretches, for those going through brands to find one that works.
Good to know, the odd things we find out in this hobby

Interesting, I’ll have to give them a try. I actually just recently ran out of the wipes I had. Thank you I appreciate it!
Pampers
Brilliant
if you add ardcoat over the marble you can even give off the illusion of it being ... well ... marble ;)
Great tip! I do add gloss varnish after but I must have forgotten to add that
@@theminiaturemen40k Used this video for my Custodes just now.
Works really well.
Thanks !
@@azir64 awesome! Glad to hear it!

@@theminiaturemen40k I think that's it too. I just haven't found a way to to see if my inital coat is "enough."
Yea, it seems to be more of a feel thing since you can’t see it. I should start counting how many thin coats I do
That's genius! I know what I'm doing for my leviathan box bases now! Did u think of the baby wipe yourself?
Sounds awesome. People have use baby wipes or dryer sheets for effects before me
What did you use for the columns on the base of the beginning? I really like em and want to do similar on mine.
They are from dragonforgedesign along with the bases that I use in the video
well, i remove the stencil directly, so the color is still wet and reving the haires is way cleaner and easier.

wow this looks great, do you think that using gauze instead of baby wipes would give a similar effect?
I personally haven’t tried gauze but I’m sure it could work. Only one way to find out!
Trying to use the rattle can method, but the paint keeps peeling off with the wipe. Any idea on how to avoid this?
Strange I’ve never had that happen, you may need to do many very light coats and make sure they dry before doing another coat
Very helpful 😊
