I can’t believe how wide the river became. I remember fly fishing in the cane river many years ago. Now I think about how many sorrows flowed down the rivers of North Carolina as this storm dropped down on them. The tears are buried under the sediment and the rocks, but the loss will go with them for the rest of their lives. Everyone touched by this insane storm needs healing and love. Those who have provided food, water, clothing and shelter will be blessed. The mountains have always given me a peaceful feeling. Now as I see all the damage and the loss I can’t stop the tears from falling. For those in charge of helping these wonderful people…I say to you…stop taking away the tiny homes….stop being something other than human and give to those who have suffered unbearable hurt and sorrow. Everyone alive has been hurt or damaged by an event in their life. You do not know when your time to suffer loss will come. Do for those who are waiting for help in the same way you would want to helped.
Thank you for taking the time to record and post your video but especially for your generosity in helping others. My wife and I live in Buncombe County but were spared any significant damage to our home. We pray for all the less fortunate survivors and lost souls.
You are welcome, Michael. Thank God that you and your wife are okay! I can't help but think about all the survivors that may be still suffering in this frigid weather without proper shelter. This disaster is so far-reaching. I thank God for every volunteer doing all they can to supply help. It is astonishing to me how the state leaders are failing to prioritize these families and their urgent needs. They should be persistently urging the government to send whatever is needed to get these people back into livable shelters for the winter!!! To hear the United States President announce that he is sending billions of dollars to foreign nations when American citizens are desperate to rebuild their lives from this horrific disaster causes my blood to boil! I've seen video of total communities abandoned from their condemned homes. Yet, I'm sure their mortgage lenders are threatening for payments that are due. I cannot imagine the horror of those families! God bless you and please pray without ceasing!
You are quite welcome! I was honored to have the opportunity to obtain the footage that I used. We spent nearly an entire day in the area and there are no words, photos, nor videos that can explain the emotion of seeing it all firsthand. I am seeing a bit of progress but there is work to be done to rebuild that will take years. The hearts of the people are scarred for life, but the land will thrive again, by the grace of God!
@debradeyton7613 as I said...I only trust God. We didn't get the help we needed ever in these mountains. Pandemic, disabled, elderly zero God is my only help.
People want to help. If you would guide us to a local church wanting to help or a local charity with their info in the description, it would go a long way. In the meantime, you have our prayers.
You raise an excellent point! My husband has made many phone calls trying to learn where help is needed. We need to know which charities are reputable and actually taking the help to the people in need. This is a good forum for those in need to make us aware, or acquaintances who are knowledgeable of someone in desperate need. It is my hope to help keep the word of the damage at the forefront of people's thoughts so that prayers continue. God is able to work through our prayers!

Beautiful comment at the top. In Buncombe praying for y'all. Am sidelined by spinal injuries but have not forgotten y'all.
Prayers of the righteous will help restore the damage! Take care of your own health and know that God is near to you in your need, as well.

All those tree's just decimated. 😢 the water level must have been 40+ feet to reach the road as it did just so sad. ❤🙏🏻from UK.
