I've been doing the traffic control for this area since day one and it's been a true honor to be a part of helping everyone the best that we can possibly do in every possible way and we're praying for everyone of y'all in mountain City Tennessee I can't imagine what y'all are truly going through and we're going to continue to be there in mountain City Tennessee for as long as we possibly can and if there's anything I can do just let me know my name is Michael with dykes trucking company were the ones that are doing the traffic control for this area in mountain City Tennessee may God's speed be with each and everyone of y'all in mountain City Tennessee
Glad to see you made it through and got to visit. That's important, and something we don't really appreciate until it's gone. We had a lot of downed trees around here, and I'm down in SC. As you noted, a lot of trees fell, but a lot more are waiting to fall. They were wounded, imo, and are still hanging on, but a good wind'll bring them down. I've bought yet another Feuerhand 280 hurricane lantern and can't recommend them enough. Feuerhand is the only company still producing lanterns in The West, and the quality is fantastic. A company well worth supporting, especially considering that there will be more tress coming down sooner rather than later. When I was without electricity post-Helene, my oil lamps made all the difference in the world. I had a couple of them "just because".... but after that experience, I've been going a little nuts buying vintage hurricane lanterns and revitalizing them. Just in case. I could be wrong, but there's something comforting about having those lanterns on hand and ready to go. I recommend everyone do the same, and be sure to get the Feuerhand lanterns instead of that cheap stuff that's more likely to leak than not.
God bless Ruth! She seems so domesticated, beautiful to see. She knows whats going on too. the upheaval, loks like she wanted to say hello & wave you off! Such a cutie. ❤
11:30pm, So blown away with this story. I thank GOD that you all were able to reconnect. We will continue to pray for all of western North Carolina and our nation as a whole.
Please love Ruth like you would a dog you love -- or child, or any of God's creatures great and small. She wants to be part of the family, just wants to be with everyone. It's like taking a dog and leaving him away from everyone locked into a pen. She is not different in her want to love and be loved than your dog. God Bless all creatures great and small.
I was thinking the same. She has a heart for the family, and may be struggling herself with the trauma that the entire region has gone through. Interesting that you commented and my heart was just pulled so hard the same.
So happy yall made it to see mom❣️As a retired teacher I kept wondering how did you get to school.. It is way out! Just a question! If President Trump is allowed to take office you will get help❣️
Are there any coordinators for organizing the relief efforts? Who should be contacted to offer financial assistance? Are there individuals bringing in their portable sawmills to reclaim all the down trees?
There have been so many incredible individuals and organizations that have come to the aid of this region. We are thankful beyond measure for all of them. Samaritan's Purse has been here from the beginning. And, they are continuing to be here. The need is so great though. It is truly unimaginable to be surrounded by this level of destruction. I am aware of people bringing in sawmills. I have spent a lot of time with our local distribution center, Bald Creek Relief. They are amazing, and they will be here to provide support until April of next year and possibly beyond.
The variety of emotions has been extreme for me. Knowing that this doesn't seem natural is challenging, to say the least. Today we have very cold weather and several inches of snow. And this is not the first snow. The "man" who has orchestrated all of this is from the pit. The hardest part of all this is my heartbreak for my neighbors. I feel their grief and unimaginable sorrow over the loss of their daughter and 2 young grandsons. My continued prayers are for them to come to know the Lord who is above all of this. May my neighbors in this whole affected region be drawn into the comforting and loving arms of the One Most High!
I live in Mountain City. To avoid Hwy 421 construction you can go Hwy 321 around the lake to Dry Hill Rd and then Roan Creek Rd. I have been doing this a week after hurricane to Boone, NC. It adds about 25 minutes to my commute. You could have made it a lot sooner.
It seems forever before President Trump gets into office. I could just see him taking his oath and then heading out to get to the White House to put his first orders into place. There is no time to waste..
I know that you are a Woman but as Long as I had "legs", nothing would be able to keep me from my mom, she has been dead for almost 5 years but she would do the same for me...

Hi Heidi. So glad you finally got to your mom. That had to be a tough time not seeing her. We take so much for granted. Bless your family.
What a tragedy you lived through, so glad you're all ok
This is a work in Progress.

Ruth is by far the most spoiled out of the 22 animals here. ;)

There's no reclaiming the lumber Sadly

Seeing this destruction is upsetting. When I feel it was instigated and planned by man.

The national guard should have sent choppers.
I use to live in Roan Mountain that’s an Elk .park

I would not blame the Hurricaine as if it were a natural event.... I would put the blame fully on the creatures who engineered it.
