      @@CarolHewett-ug2cw Google Poga Tennessee, in Carter County .
      Youll most likely see their fire truck being washed into the abyss,
      Mountain City, Up 421 in Midway between Mtn City and also Trade was wiped out by tiny Upper Roane Creek TN on the Carolina Line .. its a 100 ft deep canyon in places, youd just have to have seen it ..
      Down route 167 Towards Neva, Near Watauga Lake was wiped out by Roane Creek .
      Its so bad in places its hard to pick a place to send aid because their are so many that lost it all...

      We not only have a stunningly beautiful state but some of the best human beings you will find anywhere. Mountain folk and most native North Carolinians have always been the salt of the earth. From generations back they have worked the earth with their bare hands, made their own furniture, built their own cabins and homes and worked the land sometimes burying their children along the way. They are kind, generous and loving and will literally feed a stranger and give them the shirts off their back. They are raised on Christian morals and values. They are devoted to one another. When they’re knocked down, they get back up. In the darkest of hours they will find the light. I come from several generations back to the early 1700’s of these wonderful people. What has been done to them is heartbreaking and unforgivable. ❤️🙏😔

      13.5 inches per hour water level rise at NFR on 26/27the sept!
      From the scant information shared during the County Briefing on the 25th Oct and height of the Fusegate bucket that activated at North Fork Reservour on 27th I calculated the rate of rise in water level in the reservoir as 13.5 inches per hour and the reservoir is 1.3 sq Km ! Unless prepared weeks in advance no reservoir anywhere would be able to accomodate such a deluge. So the level rose from full pool to the top of the bucket, 16 feet in 14 hours, before it activated. Why did'nt all 6 activate in series to prevented the flash flood that resulted from the 6 million Cu M (4.8 M x 1.3 sq Km) release from one bucket. So much for 'functioned as designed'. The level of destruction to NF creek and Beacon Village can only be explained by a flash flood event. Fluvial flow or rivers bursting their banks, which is what we are being expected to believe, can not generate the necessary velocity to explain the level of destruction. Of course the extreme high rainfall also triggered landslides on steep slopes all across the County but lets there was also an artificial component. It's utterly disgraceful that anyone would block these temporary emergency measures to assist the folks in such dire circumstances after the devastation of Helene. I mean just even for the next few months until Spring? Where are the Sheriffs who took an oath to uphold the Constitution and protect the citizens from corrupt bureaucracies? My point was that to say homes can't be built in a river bed . No little houses could be set there where homes used to be. Mississippi flooding is for miles each side. They rebuild and restructure the area. Why can't it be done in NC. 300 yds on both sides of a much smaller streams and river is not right to take property away.

    The property line should remain the same. What you purchase compared to what a river has destroyed should not matter that land on your deed should stay the same even if it is in a river. Just reroute the river back where it came from. Thank God for all the great volunteers and donations. Still folks living in tents with cold weather they need housed or shared living space small house something other than a frezzing tent.

    The land and water ways are extremely polluted. The cars , tractors and other motorized vehicles - fuel leaks and batteries. Septic systems. Businesses and their chemicals washed into the flood waters. The trash. The dead animals. The dead people. Chemicals and fuels in barns and storage buildings that floated into the floods ….. cadaver dogs have died. It is in the dirt that is being moved and blown into the wind. Then it is breathed in by humans and animals. It is just overwhelming . Thank you for all you are doing to help.

    I heard from Senator Budd that the reason that they weren't allowing the small shelters is due to the area being in a flood zone. Excuse me when the last MAJOR FLOOD like this happened it was 108 years ago, July 1916 and hasn't happened since. But they've allowed continued building and growth in all our mountain areas. But now they can't bring in temporary shelter to prevent freezing to death for these poor people. I'm from the coast of NC and guess what, it's in a FLOOD ZONE and every June until the end of November, Hurricanes, tropical storms, Northeasterner's come and flood our homes down there. Everyone gets temporary shelter while REBUILDING on the coast. They might say, OK, build "UP" above a certain height or something, but they're allowed to return and rebuild. Why now? Why not use government funds to assist these poor people. They won't leave their homesites, why, they know the government wants their land, CHEAP. Getting a small buy out when the homes are high there and they're mortgages are high, they can't go somewhere else and start over, even if they wanted to and believe you me, people who've grown up in a certain area, their family all around them, their families buried there, they're churches are there, they're not going anywhere. You'll have to bomb them out of those places. Our US Government has money available in these Green New Deal and Deficit Reduction Act bills that have been passed, money allocated and should be utilized to assist these people ASAP or they'll freeze to death. Maybe thats what they want, but be assured, Americans all over the country are watching what our Government is NOT DOING to ASSIST these people and they'll show how angry they are when they go to vote the next time. There are just as many democrats as there are Republicans up in our Mountains and everybody who are leaving these terrible democratic states are moving into NC and they're watching too! Democrats want to know why they lost the vote in 2024, this is a prime example of WHY!

      Flood zones and floodplain areas Do Not magically appear and subject a property to additional regulation just because a property ended up under water. County, State and Federal regulators are required to use "FIRM" maps, established by FEMA to determine where such flood areas officially exist and are subject to regulation. There are currently FIRM maps on record in these affected Counties and those maps, NOT where the most recent water flowed, are the only areas subject to flood related regulations. Of course the FIRM maps will undoubtedly get updated somewhere down the road (not anytime soon, the process is long) and the areas which recently found underwater will likely appear on the new updated maps, but until that time, these properties recently affected are not flood properties to be regulated if not on the FIRM maps.

      @@chuckdykstra3020 Well I'm 70 away from Asheville and our small town looked like bombs had hit us all over the place. Asheville and other cities are WORST! This Firm Map you say Flood Zones are supposed to be, well, they must of not notified these rich, wealthy people that or someone was paid some bucks to approve because, they built there and they're rebuilding there now. It's only the poorer and middle class families that don't seem to be able to get that approval. How Odd? Every heard of a town called Harkers Island, NC, use to be just a small fishing town and everyone of those small homes have fought like heck to stay on the island. They're saying the entire island is in a flood zone and these people need to leave or be pushed out due to high taxation. But it's odd, multi-million dollar homes are being built there, where supposedly you can't get a permit to build because of it being right on the water and in a "FLOOD ZONE" BIG TIME! But they're building and allowed to rebuild when storms come and wash them away. They're a small island that housed fishing homes but it was basically a sand dune. The government closed a good 50+ years ago, no one can live there, too dangerous. But not today with all that money coming down the pike, again, somebody got a permit to build and multi-million dollar home are being build as we speak. Isn't it odd, once again!

      @chuckdykstra3020 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@starnealy4550 for the FEMA FIRM maps search FEMA FIRM maps and it will lead to a search box that you can enter specific addresses into that will bring up the applicable FIRM map (if there is one) for that area. These FIRM maps provide the basis for determining County permitting limitations and Insurance industry guidance. It is important to note that a property that has never before flooded and is not currently shown to be a flood concern on a FIRM map does not automatically now come under County regulation as a flood property. The new flood parameters and updated maps must first be developed and approved (this can take 1 or more years typically) and then once developed and approved, FEMA has to give a 6 month notice before the new FIRM map takes effect. Then the County has the authority to flood regulate any newly affected properties, home owners can no longer be covered for flood damage by regular conventional insurance and must obtain flood insurance only from FEMA.
