    See Part 2 for the Q&A element to this series
    Please subscribe, like and comment on our videos to show support for our charity - This is a free way to say thank you to EGA 😊🍄🌵- www.entheogenesis.org
    Talk Synopsis:
    These tall, green, magic cacti already had a lot of confusing names - Trichocereus, Echinopsis, pachanoi, peruvianus, macrogonus, bridgesii… Then people started growing these cacti in Australia. The name games got even weirder - bogan, yowie, chemical shaman’s d**k, etcetera.
    In this video, self-confessed cactus fiend Liam Engel will relentlessly bombard you with information and imagery concerning Australia’s iconic San Pedro cacti population. If you don’t grow San Pedro cacti, Liam will convince you that you should. If you already grow San Pedro cacti, Liam will convince you that you should grow more. If you still weren’t convinced, Part 2 provides a live question-and-answer session, providing Liam another opportunity to argue that NOW is always is the best time to grow and care for San Pedro.
    Liam Engel Bio: Dr Liam Engel is an illicit drug researcher seeking to empower psychoactive ecologies and the people who use them. Liam works with ECU, UQ and RMIT, and spends his spare time figuring out how he can make room for more cacti.

    The Opuntia Irradiation through Moths might be seen as one of Australia's biggest achievements. But it's somehow one of the biggest mistakes. OPUNTIA FICUS INDICA is one type of Opuntia that has very high nutritional value and very delicious fruits called KARMOUSS in Morocco.
    Instead of killing all the Opuntias, our predecessors could have researched on how to incorporate the pads on our daily diet because one of it's health benefits is developing the skin's natural UV filtration which could address one of Australia's biggest challenge: Skin Cancer. All in all, I love you Mate. Thank you for making this very informative video. Let's be friends shall we

    Here in Victoria, prickly pear is a government recognised PEST plant. My uncle had a HUGE one that would produce plenty of fruit, and I ate a lot as a kid. I know of a bunch near a since closed rubbish tip in the bush that fruits well, and REGARDLESS of the pest designation, these people down the road from me PLANTED HUNDREDS OF METERS of them on their boundary fence. Driving past last week, I could see they're all fruiting right now. They've got tons of olive trees and have essentially ignored the prickly pear within 2 years of planting. They don't pick the fruit or anything.

    • @OffGridInvestor
      @OffGridInvestor ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julianchoque7402 back in the early 1900s in Queensland, there was so much prickly pear that the government employed people for 30 or 40 years to JUST dig it out. My mum read a book of the daughter of someone who was doing that job. They were trying to control it from spreading further. I think the land they were digging it out from was essentially desert anyway, likely never used for serious farming. But there's so many things classed as weeds here, they only try to reduce or enforce farmers to control a few of the worst of them.

I actually have the outdoor space to go crazy growing these kinds of things, but it's far too cold for about half of the year so I have to do an outdoor/indoor hybrid method. Too bad, because I cannot think of anything else I would want to (legally) grow so much outdoors. But definitely DO NOT grow these with any intent of psychedelic consumption. :-)

      Mustn't have checked too hard because it WAS an invasive species that they employed a few hundreds people to dig out for 40 years in Queensland. It is a restricted invasive species here in Victoria but it's not enforced. Someone down the road from me has grown like 40 against a stone wall bordering their property. Go ask the Department of Agriculture and you'll get the real answer.

    I've seen giants in South America, family really got annoyed that I mentioned mescaline content, had many as ornamental but never could move with them, I could grow tons on land have Peruvian apple 🌵cactus that are 35 foot. Animals get a lot of fruit produced everything its fertilized seems. When in grown in direct soil, sand Central West gulf coast either nematodes of moisture rotted two when away. Have exotics but fruits from travels. Took out thousands if pounds prickly pear gets too wild. What's a wholesaler of many varieties, I often share plants. Had no idea was valuable, thank you. Anyone have success in Tampa area? Or know link, love to have many varieties. Especially if threatened, b e glad to save like my fruit trees. Spending thousands to get trees removed for more room. Prickly pear and subulatta fish hooks are awful. Worked at wholesale cactus place when 14-15 yearold, miserable heat and no money. Peyote I'd grow if threatened as have room. What great info, love to reestablish or save from extinction help. Glad stumbled on.

    is this video deliberately misleading as very few shown, esp the flowers (none of which are san pedro)?

    • @oldsalt394
      @oldsalt394 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I mean, they did show flower buds, and if you're mislead simply from coloured flowers you might need to join up with some of the trichocereus groups on Facebook. There are many new colour flower variants that are coming out, as well as intergenetic hybrids.
      Liam makes a lot of great points, but he's literally standing in front of a farm full of trichs.

      @@oldsalt394 um if you think any flower is active, you got issue buddy.. not me. san pedro aka trich should be white dinner plate flowers! And all those flowerers were shitty non active cacti, so that's how i call it misleading when 3/4 the video is non.

    Did you just say that Trichocereus Bridgestii has more mescaline content than Trichocereus Pachanoi (original San Pedro) ???? I Heard just the opposite, that the bridgestii is way weaker in mescaline content
