Cannabis addiction ruined my mind and my life. I used to be a keen advocate of legalisation, but having felt the impact of it I can no longer hold that position. I think all drugs being decriminalised for using would be a step forward, but legalising them is a way of making what is ultimately a corrosive substance easier to get hold of. Yes my problem was a problem with me and many do not have that problem, but alcohol is legal and look how much trouble that causes. Very mixed feelings now about it being made legal, it really does rot your brain. There need to be a lot more addiction support available regardless of what we do with legal status of these drugs.
It's interesting to see JOB as he discusses transgender topics. I think it's one of the few topics on which he genuinely has very conflicting and fluid ideas. On many other topics he discusses, he has a clear view for himself. It can change, but he has some collection of robust arguments which lands him in one positon or other. It appears that on this transgender topic, he has no robust arguments and that makes him feel like a fish out of water. He has something to hold on to and that is that he is disgusted by the bile spewed in the direction of people who are just genuinely trans people. That is why he frequently circles back to that position, only to sound confused again when leaving that island of safety.
I think O'Brien' views on the transgender issue are shared by many. Many of us don't really understand it, but there are many more who THINK they understand it and are very loud about it. It is a difficult issue, but then again, the issue of recognising homosexuality back in the day was also difficult, most of us don't give it a second thought now. Personally, I have no issues with how people want to identify as long as that self-identification doesn't bring harm to others. Of course there are practical - prison, toilets, sports etc - problems to overcome, but I'm sure these can be resolved given time and thought.
The thing is, people are going to do it anyway. Your kids are gonna try it. It doesn't matter how many PSCOs we send into schools to tell kids "drugs are bad", because all it does is makes 'em wanna try it. So, let them do it safely. I would die inside my skin if I knew my kid had gone and seen an unknown dealer and not told me, that's dangerous, I'd much rather he greens out all over the house and tells me which dispensary I need to talk too.

My garden is 450 meters above sea level in middle of Europe, much colder climate than most of UK, and i have quite a nice results.
On change on Germany: A new Billion € Market has been unlocked.
They did it in Thailand too.
The “independent maritime nation” will do what the DEA tells them to do.
Thailand legalised it during Covid, I was over there with the missus last year and it's a massive boost to their economy.
Respect to Seamus
As a British expat in Canada. The world didn’t stop turning when it was legalized. The only difference was, that we now have 100’s of dispensaries, where we used to have Starbucks, most people who had dealers, still use their dealers, due to the government tax on stores… I can grow 6
Plants a year, legally… so I grow 3 CBD and 3 THC for edibles
Here in the U.S. I'm in a medicinal state (PA) which is now surrounded by recreational states. Every day, my state is losing tax dollars to neighboring states as people just go for a drive.
@@andrewrobinson1479 Wow, that must be so frustrating. I had a medical card before recreational became legal… it didn’t take too long once medicinal use was ok, federally, for recreational use to follow…. I’ll keep my fingers crossed it happens in PA in the same way.
@@caroleparker6084 we'll get there sooner or later. One thing politicians understand is $ so I'm sure it will happen at some point
Great things chap great things
The big issue for me is keeping all drugs away from kids . School kids smoke it at the bus station round my town some of them looking no older than 12
I agree IT STINKS so do the buses and trains in London now, definatly not in public places
@@dekone5758Outside could be ok in some specific spaces or under specific shelters (like how some countries handle smoking at train stations etc.) All easily codified in law in a sensible way. The Spanish clubs are the best model imo as it creates a free space to smoke privately and smoking in public is very minimal there.
From Maryland, USA
No change at all here since legalizing Marijuana and Gambling
Only thing I notice is less harassment in minority communities
Like we took a tool from the police to harass folks
a lot of people would recover from lifelong illnesses immediately and realise how useles most big pharma medications are
You do realise it’s been medically legal since 2018 in the uk and it is vaped instead of smoked to reduce smell and better quality for medical users
Just because something is made legal, it doesn't mean that everyone is all of a sudden going to start using it!! Just legalise it for all to enjoy if they wish
The pharmaceutical industry still has a firm grasp of UK politicians. Legalized in Canada and now I take oil before bed, which has given dramatic improvements to my arthritis. No side effects and non addictive and no i'm never incapacitated. The sheep in the UK still believe whatever self serving statements the pharmaceutical lackeys spew. We can also grow four plants per household here.
We had one chief of police (Toronto) who years ago stated it was a demon gateway drug, yawn, and now he is a board member of one of the big canabbis companies. Funny how that works. Also, many hospitals here have done studies, including sick kid's hospital in Toronto, who have proven the efficacy of utilizing cannabis oil to treat some seizures in children effectively and alleviating chemotherapy symptoms.
Re April fools, for me Richard Dawkins coming out as a "cultural Christian" Islamaphobe. 1st time i heard lbc was driving back from London to Portsmouth and just picked up the end of the interview where Gove claimed people had had enough of experts before i hit the A3 tunnel. Shocking statement that stuck with me.
I live in Thailand where it’s been recently legalised. It’s done wonders for tourism after covid and apart from a slight increase in road accidents on some of the already most dangerous roads in Asia, which the data has yet to prove has anything to do with cannabis. I seriously doubt Thai’s are consuming cannabis anymore than they used to. The laws are strict for who can buy it and you can’t really smoke in public places, but as someone who suffers from chronic pain and enjoys the music of Pink Floyd it’s been brilliant
Addiction and need of comfort is something nearly all of us can relate to.
I’m smoking again because work is difficult. It’s the first thing I turn to when time gets tough. Haven’t smoked in 4 years. Disappointed with myself as I know it doesn’t help.
The benefits of medical cannabis for epilepsy particularly in children, are often overlooked. Needs to be legalized
Texas doesn't have a last meal request
It will bring down the gang activities and knife crimes in England. But this will be bad business for the corrupt injustices system and bad business for the English government mafias 😂😂😂
Still mildly high today at 66 years old.
The country would be more happy. There would be less alcoholics. Pizza sales would boom.
How much electricity is used to currently produce when you could grow outdoors easier if legal 😉
You get arrested for growing it and its actually quite a relaxing pastime otherwise.
Getting a bit more testine over the past couple of weeks 😂😂
James please do some research on the medicinal value of cannabis because it’s absolutely huge.
From mitigating the effects of CTE to enormous anti-inflammatory values.
Quit frankly if it wasn’t for CBD oil I don’t think I would’ve faired so well with 2020 Covid .
The Uruguayan government controls the distribution!
More happy people that’s for sure
They already have moved in to medical cannabis.
Theresa May!
I'm a medical cannabis patient, it's changed my life for the better and would be so much worse off without it.
It's a shame about the costs but my health comes before money
Pretty sure that Fish & Chips are not junk food. Pretty wholesome with no additives and not highly processed.
Rich would get even richer, profits from ANY legal transaction in the UK end up in the pockets of the top 1%
What would happen? In my experience music will sound better, jokes will be funnier and food will taste better!
Portugal has seen many benefits since decriminalising,as has Colorado in usa
Of course there are practical - prison, toilets, sports etc - problems to overcome, but I'm sure these can be resolved given time and thought.
mr woke o,brien is faced with two woke issues and is waiting to see which way the wind blows.
@@deadcert Learn to write an eligible sentence, ffs!!
Shout out to the food guy who called in. People don’t get it. He was spot on and the analysis from James was too- can relate just not with food. Been there worn the shirt
Not Quite Vorsprung der Technic in Germany, anyone that's ever grown a few plants would expect a yield a bit higher than 50 grams on 3 plants the amount you can legally possess in Germany, which means you could fall foul of the law every crop! but it's a step in the right direction, should have been legalised here years ago, However Victoria Atkins and her hubby are doing alright with home office licensing to grow and export medical grade Cannabis for profit!
Nothing negative.
The same amount of people will either use it or not whether legal or not.
The majority of people will then move on from it and a minority not
Legal or not it means nothing.
Less arrests more money for goverment.
Anyone that lives in the real world should say different
Legalise excasy the same. The blip had no relevance to legal or not. Its related to knowing whats best for you long term and knowing moving on
People can finally pick some up at the shops like other groceries, instead of buying it from teenaged wannabee gangsters on ill-fitting stollen bicycles.

Correction: there are 14 coffeeshops in Groningen. I live here, don't smoke. An what does Mark(c) consider allot of drugdealing on the streets? In what area does he roam....?
The whole money system needs to go
Need to complete reboot to zero or concept.
Regarding misgendering… why is being referred to as your preferred gender a special privilege that only apparently morally pure trans people should get? Why don’t these convicted trans rapists ‘deserve’ the protection of this proposed law? Do we refuse the rights of religious converts who commit offences to practice their religion?
Everyone going after Israel right ow. Israel doesn't have any money unless it comes from flat earth west 😂
