When I was in college I was having a hard time. I was going through spiritual, financial, and mental trouble. One day I was on my way to class and I just broke down. One of my professors from Nigeria pulled me to the side, hugged me and talked to me like a father would a son. I will never forget that experience. Its experiences of that nature that taught me to treat people as individuals. Stereotypes never help.
I’m a Nigerian guy. I NEVER look down on African Americans. In fact it’s the opposite. The Africans that look down on them have no SHAME. Our own continent has INFINITE problems yet some still have the audacity to shame others 😂
@DB-pp7kj That's actually a lie. Those stats are fraudulent. A 75% Afrikan American wouldn't even look like us, we are not mixed, so don't confuse us with mixed-race people.
Naah theirs countless of stories from Africans talking bout how they got bullied by black Americans for being African so don’t give me that fake shit. Let’s be real, black Americans looks down on Africans and vice versa.
Well I’m African American and I don’t just accept anybody especially white people. When white people try to be friends with me, I know based on the history of interactions between blacks and whites that white people are looking for something out of me or to take advantage of me. That’s why I just use white people to my advantage and get as much as I can out of them and never be their friends or give up much to them. They usually stop trying to be my friend once they realize I’m using them.
As an African in AFRICA (South Africa) i can proudly say that we love you and consider African-Americans as our long lost brothers and sister's. One Love.
It goes both ways. I’m African living in New York City. When I first came in the USA 🇺🇸 I wanted to hangout, and mingle with African Americans but their attitude was like I was inferior to them, coming out of the jungle, probably sleeping in trees, they didn’t want me near them… I was hurt very hurt and stayed away, I had no choice but to find others like me. Over the years I understood why there was friction between these two groups. The racist American media always portrayed Africa as savage and backward and portrayed African Americans as gangsters, killers, evil… pinning one group against the other. Now with the internet the truth can no longer be hidden, so let us blacks from around the world 🌍 embrace each other, for our struggle is the same against a common enemy amen 🙏🏾💪🏾😊
Was guilty of this myself when I was younger as I grew older realized the ignorance I was portraying and how it holds us back as a people we need to start uniting 💪🏾
I'm not saying every single African is this way but majority are.. This is fact... This is just like saying every single white person is not racist and look down on black and brown people in America, but majority do.
I am Ghanaian, born here and I don't agree with this. The true of the matter it goes both ways. The disrespect comes from both ways. Also, the truth is, you are talking about a minority within a minority. In what ways do Africans truly make the lives of other Black folk problematic. For all of you condemning Africans, be honest. Have you not seen Africans be disrespected in your schools, neighborhoods, and/or communities? Be real
Nerdy African they disrespect and get the exact same treatment back and cry wolf..so if you wanna get technical it’s everywhere but i seen with my eyes that AFRICANS START SHIT TOO!! Stop acting like saints
Traditionally, the term "nation" refers more to a people group, an ethnicity, rather than just a geographic location. The Roman Empire was an exception, but one could be a Roman citizen while also belonging to their home nation (such as St Paul, a Roman and a Jew). So far as I've seen, only the countries spawned from Britain have tried to truly adopt a notion of a multicultural nationality based more on ideals than ethnicity, however flawed that approach has been. A non-Chinese could emigrate to China, assimilate into the culture, learn the language, but would never truly be considered Chinese, but a Chinese family can come to America and within a generation be fully American in every sense of the word...
China don't allow outsiders to become citizens. China is an ethnostate and there's nothing you can do about it. Always has been and always will be. And soon China will be calling all the shots globally, not America
goodtwogo actually you can apply to become a Chinese citizen they are simply stricter on who does or doesn’t get approved. They probably also limit how much of each race does get approved every year. As for China calling the shots globally, no. They will simply have more of a say than they have in the past. Simply another Superpower alongside US/Russia.
All my African friends that went to America said the same about African Americans they are not like us. But I also met African Americans who left America in Africa educating us about how this integration thing worked out so far. I personally feel like as an African we are not in a position to look down on anyone we have a whole continent to fix.
I’ll try my best to explain, ever since we were born we’ve faced nothing but hatred, pain, and suffering. Even from our own people we are targeted, we are targeted by whites, blacks, asians, latins, indians, etc. We get disowned a lot and feel disowned a lot and in order to survive we must get violent. It’s differences between us because of the hardships we face which molds our people to become violent because each day we’re targeted but we are good people and we really want to connect with our african brothers and sisters and come back home. The only thing that’s discouraging is that the thought if feeling like an outcast amongst our own people just because of africans looking down on us. That’s really how we feel
Also it was Foundational Black Americans people that fought for immigration we fought the good fight for u guys to come over and start a new life and the way they look down on us is sad.
@@channingfranklin8234 I can never look down on you my brother. Thank you for the fight you fought for us. As an African I be honest with you I’m in no position to look down on you. We Africans have a whole continent to fix until then we can’t look down in nobody.
@John E. Blaze Sr. If black Americans were a girlfriend, and every other ethnicity was the boyfriends, logical thinkers would say the girlfriend is the problem.
@Galva Tron in America, they show us in school how underdeveloped Africa is to divide us. In Africa they show them the worst of us. Divide and conquer. Propaganda.
This is true, most of this judgement comes from the fact that a large number of African Americans have failed to make use of the opportunities in America. Though African Americans have been systematically oppressed, it can become an excuse at times for they failure. Africans, Asians, Haitians and other blacks go to America and manage to succeed with less opportunity and resources. That's where a lot of the dislike for African Americans stem from. I hope there will be a day when Malcolm X And Marcus Garvey dream will come through. All blacks living in unity regardless of the country you from or light or dark you are.
I’ll be straight up...this whole “Africans Americans accept everyone” thing...I never experienced it. Black Americans HATED me growing up because my parents are from somewhere else. We need to drop this whole one-sided thing because it really isn’t
Lamel Jarvis nah look I know this to be the truth that will continue to sever the relationship between black people as a whole(Africans, West-Indians, and African-Americans): There is jealousy, hate, and ignorant prejudice coming from all sides. I almost lost all my self-confidence because I was treated as a ‘weird African nigga’, the exact words from someone I thought was supposed to be my brotha. See the problem is that the baby boomers and generation X Africans(I.e our parents and grandparents) already form a misconception about black Americans not only based on what they see on T.V but also because of what they see when they come here. You gotta understand that the importance of morals and respect is of an utmost importance to Africans in general and so the freelancing, comparatively wayward life that they see when they migrate here makes them wary and even more so Afraid of their children’s future in a foreign land because it could go sideways and out of their control. Therefore, they roll with the flawed mentality that all African-Americans are disrespectful and even lazy and try to pass that down to their children. Their African children, in turn struggle with fitting in to the society especially if they also migrated because it seems to them that they have to become like their American counterparts to be accepted which may not even end up happening, while the ones that were born here start to disagree with their parents more and more because they grew up here, so they have no background or understanding of what Africa is like and why it is important to stay focused and watch the friends they keep. You have to understand that although Africans have this problem of quick misconceptions, their victims are not just black Americans but also white people and other people in fact. And this is the same with black Americans but with a twist of satire and light-heartedness that makes it seem like it’s no harm when it actually does psychological and social damage to black unity. You see this is because African Americans while being very generous are more impatient and intolerant of people with a different background than them especially when it comes to a different black ethnic culture because us as Africans will not be used to the American way of doing things and cannot all of a sudden adapt and then become just like our black counterparts from America. That’s loosing our own identity man!😪😪😪. None of the black people that approached me when I first came to America in 10th grade were eager to truly help me because I was just that, different. I didn’t understand the culture of football, didn’t know what the bloods and crips were, didn’t know that kids started driving very early, wasn’t used to kids disrespecting teachers as common practice!, wasn’t used to none of that and I saw all of em cut me off or just make fun of me and insult me cuz of that. That’s why till this day, I keep asking myself if it takes someone being able to start making fun of themselves and others like Michael Blackson does to receive love or acceptance in this society. I kept wondering why even the Africans that grew up here I met when I arrived were ashamed of me and this is the sad truth for a thousand and one other Africans. We are hurt in our workplace, schools, communities, and so on by our own black brothers and sisters, and the only excuse some select few can give us is that we sold them during slavery. Like nigga what? How is that supposed to further pan-Africanism and black unity as a whole? I bleed sometimes, watching my people cry 😢 because I know that while Africans can be quickly prejudiced, we are very loving and care about our brothers and sisters. There’s just that clash for the African Americans between being black and being American that although creating a unique culture for y’all in America, drives the resentment and just flat-out condescension towards Africans. Also one more thing I wanted to add is that Africans tend to be unhappy with African Americans because many of them do not understand why they do not work with the same passion and focus to succeed through education or other legal means like we do. Many Africans understand that the years of systematic oppression has kept the African Americans at a disadvantage in America and many atimes, it’s hard for lower class blacks that live in the hood to make it through education. But the thing is that Africans reason that if them, as immigrants from the mud are able to fight to succeed, then their black brothas and sistas should have that same drive too. This is a discussion and topic that still needs to be covered and dealt with extensively. I know that no matter the problems that we have now, there is always that inner joy and pride and love that shines in all our hearts as black people whenever we see each other and so I pray to God that he heals all our wounds and helped us to be able to truly love each other as a people so we can go forward.
Black Americans aren't accepting to everyone that's bullshit... speaking as a south central African we're the ones that accept everyone my family and friends we're mistreated in Atlanta and Detroit by black Americans simply because they were from Africa..atleast the white people they're actually tried to learn a few phrases in our language
@@Chile_N I am a supporter of black unity but unfortunately my experience the first time I visited the US was also not very nice. I interacted with a few African Americans and they were not friendly at all. I was excited to make friends with AAs. I found them quite hostile. The same thing I experienced when I visited South Africa for the first time. Expectation was totally different from what I experienced. They are not friendly towards other black Africans. I noted some similarities between the two groups. I have also noted we as Africans we think we are better than AAs when we go to the US and think we will not experience the shit that AAs go through. We belittle them.We forget we are black too. AAs paved the way for the rest of African diaspora to be able to step foot in the US. My point is we all have a contributed to the division in so many ways other than those that I have mentioned. Slavery, colonialism and apartheid messed us so badly. Question is do we maintain this narrative or be better by uniting? Much love to all black people 😍😍😍
@@LolaBugzy85 you see you visited South Africa...1 (one) country...completely different thing as compared to visiting the United States of America.. which is a country.. South Africans are hostile to fellow African people burning them and all that.. 1 country you visited does not reflect on a continent of 53 countries you're comparing 2 extremely different things here
Part of the problem is that Godfrey has met a handfull of Africans versus an entire continent of Africans. As Africans we always have to remind people like Godfrey that AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY. It is a continent of 54 different countries, from Tunisia to South Africa...over 2000 languages spoken by many individual cultural groups...each African with their own opinions and views about the African diaspora. Godfrey claims to be woke yet he, like the colonisers and racists, enthusiastically lumps every one of us into a stereotypical bracket of "Africans look down upon African Americans"...or "Africans call us names like "cotton picker"' (even though most African countries never had slaves shipped to America or Europe and would have no idea what he is talking about)...seriously. He certainly does not know Africans as much as he claims to. I am African, born and raised. I have nothing but love and admiration for the African diaspora...not only African Americans...but also African Caribbeans, African Asians, African Australasians as well as African Europeans. I have relatives and friends who were brave enough to seek greener pastures in the diaspora...against many odds. My country of origin, Zimbabwe, celebrates every African diasporan with a hint of Zimbabwean blood...from Danai Gurira to Tinashe Kachingwe...who are both African American. At the end of the day, in the worlds of Thabo Mbeki, one is not African because they were born in Africa...one is African because Africa was born within them.
When I hear white people calling Africa a country I don't care. What shocks me is people who claim to be "African" American saying the same thing. Africa is so damn big. So big you can fit then entire Mexico, USA inc Alaska, Canada and the Caribbeans in it and still have room left over. Or so big that you could literally fit 3 Europes and still have space left over! All that only for people who call themselves African American to treat that entire land as a single country. Its incredible.
Exactly this is b.s. no were on this earth will an AA get more love showed to then them then in Africa and that's a fact. Not the first time I didn't agree with Godfrey. A few snobby ones don't represent the majority of Africans.
Come on here in Senegal we have multiple African Americans people who came here every year and we show them true love because they just look the same as us.. there is no difference in shape or else. We see them like our lost brothers and sisters..
Exactly. The white man and his media is behind this so called division that is between the AA's and the continental Africans. But it is simple not as true as is believed. For the most part, it is all just one big misunderstanding that we AA's and continental Africans have between each other.
Agreed. But the trend seems to be if your of european decent then your ethnicity is secondary to your nationality. Example. Its more common to be refered to as African American than somebody being called german american. And thays the problem.
J Johnson This is one of the biggest problems & why racism & bigotry exist. The world used to be one continent but it split. So, in reality people just made up names for places. The same goes for humanity bc the human race started with 2 people according to science & religion so there’s no such thing as races just one human race! We just make up imaginary divisions that cause tangible real divide. Like I can say I am from Florida someone else then says they are from NC but all this is just made up lines on s map
So a black person can not be a Chinese citizen? A black person born and raised in China is a Chinese. Just like a black person born and raised in the USA is an American, a Canadian in Canada, a swedish if he was born and raised in Sweden and so on....Chinese is not a race it's a nationality, it's a citizenship. Chinese belong to the oriental or "yellow" race, just like we are negroid " black ". So yeah vlad was right. Godfrey completely missed it there.
I’m from Georgia (african American) let’s stop the friction. I love you guys. I love the Unity I’m starting to see. I absolutely adore the fact that I know my ancestors are from west Africa (Sierra Leone according to African ancestry) it’s an honor.
The black people from the continent of africa that call African Americans akata are Nigerians specificaly. Africa is not the name of that continent, the europeans called it that name to cover up the truth. It is Nigerians that came up with that name. It puts a bad and a negative image on us Black people that live in the black continent of africa. Many Nigerians say that the word akata in Nigerian Igbo or yuroba languages mean something positive In their traditional languages. The Word Akata is a negative Word invented by Nigerians, I as a Cameroonian do not support it. Because it puts divisions amongst us Black people. I have worked hard to talk to Nigerians to stop calling black people in America that name because it is a negative Word, and it puts seperation and decision among us. In terms of all of the other more that 40 African countries like Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, Kenya, Benin, Togo, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, South Africa, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Drc Congo, Congo, Ethiopia, Egypt, Angola and much, in Africa, We Do Not Call you African Americans Akata. We See You As Our Brothers and Sisters. We Africans in the black continent of africa understand the hardship you African Americans and the Black people all over the world including South America have been through and endured in the hands of the White people/europeans. We Africans respect you African Americans, we understand all the hardship you went through to fight for your rights and the rights of Black people as a whole. We in Africa endured our own hardship in the hands of the Europeans/invaders, but our hardship is nothing compared to what you black people in America went through. I have tried to tell my Nigerian brothers to stop calling black people in America that name, even if it means something positive in their native tongues, it is negative in English and it is also negative the way they say it and direct it. We Africans respect you African Americans and black people all over the world, that is why Ghana and other Countries in Africa are opening up paths And welcoming Black people in America to invest in the black continent of africa, to open up businesses in Africa so that the continent will grow, innovate, and develop. These Countries and the whole Continent of africa is Welcoming black people in America and all over the world to come and visit. To see the Beauty of the black continent of africa. The hardship you African Americans went through in the hands of the Europeans, I can never imagin it or comprehend it. African Countries are in modern slavery today, specificaly western and central Africa, these countries are controlled by European powers like France. The countries that manage to think freely and welcome black people in Africa are the ones that are not controlled. We Africans love and respect you African Americans and black people all over the world. Thank for reading this comment. God Bless.

Welcome home? Lady go somewhere with that, Africans have always treated us like we are beneath them, especially the women they are very rude and they don't try to hide it either
I don't understand how Africans can have the nerve to look down on black Americans. A relatively small number of blacks were kidnapped, with help from other Africans, and brought to the Americas. They were isolated and cut off from their language, culture, history, family, and homeland. There wasn't much they could do other than accept their new life in the Americas. On the other hand , Africans allowed Europeans to invade and take over and colonize almost their ENTIRE continent, and stood by while allowing themselves to be treated like dogs in their own homeland. That is FAR more disgraceful, embarrassing, and humiliating than what black Americans endured. Imagine someone coming into your house, claiming it for themselves, and allowing you to sleep in the garage or in the backyard toolshed. That's what Africans allowed to happen to them. Africans have no business looking down on ANYone.
Actually that’s a lie…Africans don’t “look down” on African Americans….the fact that you have to say the “nerve” all I need to debunk everything you said. African Americans mock African cultures, they get angry when anybody else from any country build a business for themselves in the neighborhoods. I’ve experienced African Americans making fun of my mother because of her accent, being told to go back because we’re booty scratchers, African Americans love playing the oppressed but let’s be real
Well it’s this simple man, white people had inferior weapons in the beginning of colonialism and liberation only came when African armies were getting weapons and training from The East ie Russia and China So it’s incorrect for you to say that they just allowed it to happen
The thing is bra yam, we get to consume their culture and understand them and yet they don’t have an outlet to consume ours. Which leads to brothers and sisters who don’t know and understand each other so e resort to unnecessary hate that divides us further .
@Sean Sheep I get your point but the naming convention is not new to them. Japanese American, Irish American, Latino American etc. Some just identify as Americans or black Americans. I think "people of colour " is a cringeworthy phrase.

The resentment towards Black Americans is due to the idea that Africans, Caribbean, and Latinos beleive that black Americans squander opportunity. What's missing is the appreciation for sacrifices Black Americans have made in history and the conditions placed upon them that fester hopelessness and despair for their own circumstances.
Lindsey Yah In 1956 President Eisenhower’s Highway Act systematically targeted the Business & Commercial districts of African American communities across the nation leading to homeowners being herded into public housing. Let’s keep in mind that before the 70’s most public black schools pushed African Americans into vocational professions so when you factor in the Great Society diminishing the black man’s role in the House by mandating that women don’t qualify if they live with one & combine that with the Deindustrialization of urban communities in the 70’s which greatly affected the vocational professions we were steered to, then you have created the formula for how to disenfranchise a community. Add in the War on Drugs by Nixon to target those same disenfranchised black men & the rest is history.

As an Ethiopian, I have always felt a strong connection to my African American brothers and sisters. When I was a freshman in college, I was new to the US and was lonely. It was my African American friends who really helped me feel at home and welcomed. They are funny, easy to be friends with, and always there to support you just because you are black. As someone who comes from a African country that was not colonized, I had limited knowledge about slavery and systematic racism. The black history I was taught focused on the heroism of my ancestors, but my African American friends had a different experience. They were taught that they were not as competent as white people and were often subjected to negative stereotypes perpetuated by the media. Some of them were even brainwashed into believing that they could not succeed in STEM fields or that they needed to spend a lot of money on jewelry and sneakers in order to appear wealthy. I remember discussing about African culture and stereotypes with them. I used to believe that Black people in America have more opportunities than in other countries and used slavery as an excuse. Now, I understand the impact of slavery and racism on Black people's experiences and opportunities. Despite our different backgrounds, my African American friends and I loved and supported each other through it all. If you're reading this, Sydney, Jack, and Jasmine, you guys are the best!
The way I needed to read this I just had a bad experience with someone from Ethiopia who didn’t understand the stuff we go through here, and it seemed like they didn’t even try to hear me out it’s beautiful u see it for how it really is. I’ve met AA’s who were uneducated on African cultures too so I know it’s not all of us or y’all as a whole and I genuinely love traveling to Africa it’s refreshing getting away from certain people in America and to a country I feel less questioned in😭🥲
The average African American is 25% European genetically. The slavery in America was nothing compared to the slavery in Africa in both scale and brutality. All of the slaves in America were captured by African slave empires and sold to whites. African Americans live in the richest country in the world, compared to native Africans living in the poorest.

My ancestors were ignorant, but I am not and my children won't be, it's up to us to decide what the black community looks like in the future 💗💗.
Of course, it would be Nigerian or someone of Nigerian descent to claim to speak for all Africans on a topic like this. As someone who is East African and has been to the states to study it goes both ways in my opinion. One on hand you have the Black Americans who want to learn about African culture and different countries. On the other hand, there are also Americans who make jokes about africans or know nothing and think of Africa as one country instead of as a continent. Similarly there will be Africans who like anyone anywhere might be cliquey and only want to be around people who are from where they're from and anyone outside that they may act uncomfortable with but I wouldn't say Africans "look down at Black Americans" simply because they are descendants of slaves. that's such a closed-minded way of viewing things. I'm just surprised he didn't see the irony in the way he chooses to speak for all Africans on a subject like this while he himself didn't grow up in Africa/Nigeria and instead grew up in an immigrant family.
He spoke about people in his own family and used the term African as he was speaking generally not specifically. Your the one beng specific when you mention his heritage in an obvious attempt to single yourself out as somewhat better. Ironically, your doing the very thing he spoke about.
Actually, from my experience, most Africans have a negative view about Blacks. Unfortunately, this is due to social conditioning and cultural barriers. Many Africans watch videos of Black Americans and judge by it.
@@shimmer4771 It's not due to any conditioning, it's due to personal experience. The perception of Africa and Africans in the West is generally negative and Black Americans being Western are not exempt from that mindset. Which is why they will belittle and make fun of Africans when they come to America. It's those personal experiences that form the foundation of dislike or distancing from Black Americans. Of course, not everyone is the same, so not everyone will react the same way to the same experiences. For example, Michael Blackson was made fun of, all throughout his childhood, but he didn't let it sour his perception of Black Americans.
@@uchenna127 I partially agree, but a woman from Camaroon said that many Africans watch a lot of shows Black Americans are in and they tend to form stereotypes about us based on that.
And I guess you are implying that ADOS don't and if that is what you are implying, I wonder why that is? Could it be related to the fact that the US has always tried to destroy the black family? Even during colonization, Africans were able to maintain their families. @Kingdgslim okay, let's go back even further, science has proven that life started in Africa and the first humans left Africa and populated the globe in the first exodus, 60,000BC,45,000 to 50,000BC another exodus by the San people left Africa and populated China and the Asian Pacifics, these were African people with typical oriental features, as time has gone on their complexion have alter due to the environment , this predates those that came before Columbus, it predates the expeditions which were funded by Africans Kings between the Americas and Africa, Africa is the most diverse continent in terms of race, broad nose, flat nose, straight hair, wooly hair, light skinned, dark skinned, from Berber to Bushman they all belong to the same African family, as far as the numbers who left Africa during the Transatlantic Slave trade is concerned, the figures were altered by slavers to avoid paying heavy taxes which was per slave and also for insurance purposes
Kamalo TV Bruh, I’m sooooo glad you jumped on that comment! I’m so tired of hearing that “ WE ALL DIDN’t COME FROM AFRICA” comment( which is true) but it’s kinda silly at the same time! Kingdgslim Speak for yourself because there is plenty of archaeological evidence to show how we came to America! At one time the evidence took some work to find, but now there are tons of resources available, but you have to clear you mind of the Eurocentric narrative, if not it will only confuse you.
I am African. The reason for the "we are better than you" mentality is the great divide in culture. For example the cursing and swearing that African Americans use to express themselves is seen as uncouth, uneducated and uncivilised according to most African cultures. Forexample When someone curses or swears most Africans will self withdraw and then the African American will feel looked down upon. Also our world views differ. Africans are not as passionate about black activism as African Americans are. It would take alot of courage, time, research and understanding to get along because our cultures and world views are not about to change because they form our identity.
This is a complex issue. It is rooted in ignorance on both sides. The vistages of colonialism and slavery have messed all of us up. We need to put all of the oppression, rooted in ignorance, aside and unite...in the mind first.

Give us something new and refreshing instead of bashing us over the head about the same topic.🤦♀️
The other painful aspect to all this is that during Jim Crow, Africans didn’t have the nerve to come here. But after black Americans suffered and died for Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity, Africans (and other worldwide ethnic minorities) started coming here in droves and taking advantage of opportunities and reaping where they didn’t sow. While at the same time looking down on the black descendants of enslaved Africans and insulting the children and grandchildren of those who marched, who were hosed, who were bitten by dogs, and imprisoned, just so we all could enjoy freedom and liberty. I think Godfrey is pandering to his African American audience. He even admits he was called "African booty scratcher" by African Americans and still fails to acknowledge the existence of this type of derision from ignorant African Americans towards Africans. Conversely, some Africans ignorantly typecast all African Americans with the ghetto, no-good image the media perpetuates. Truthfully, many immigrants from Africa, Asia, South & Central America etc struggle to understand why African Americans are not making more progress in the American society. They do not always comprehend the historical context of the African American's struggle in America. Nerdy African they disrespect and get the exact same treatment back and cry wolf..so if you wanna get technical it’s everywhere but i seen with my eyes that AFRICANS START SHIT TOO!! Stop acting like saints
To answer your question, you'd be a black Chinese person. Chinese is a nationality. Not a race.
Thank you !
Correct. I wish we could differentiate between Han (an ethnicity/race) and Chinese (a nationality).

It's not just Africans tho, it's EVERY culture that looks down on Black Americans!
True
@John E.
No everyone just looks down on Americans in general

J Johnson This is one of the biggest problems & why racism & bigotry exist. The world used to be one continent but it split. So, in reality people just made up names for places.
In my experience, I was cool with the AAs, but I didn't really connect with them because we're different in so many ways then I realized at the time. And when they found out I was African, that's when they started to be racist.

Our were sold away from each other & the 60s govt policies of offering govt aid to women IF there were no men in the home, as well as the intentional crack epidemic & the neo-plantation/prison system that has been the nail in the coffin. But those West Indians, Caribbean’s, Jamaican are from Africa big man. Do your research

I feel the SAME WAY about Dutch people calling themselves "African"
@Kish B. Laughable
And have the balls to call it Golden Age smh
I feel you. I feel the same way about black people calling themselves European. Or American. Or Australian.
Andreas Iversen actually in the U.S majority of the black people have anywhere between 20-30% white ethnic mixture in them due to slavery. So we are all not pure African. We don’t even look the same as Africans.

I've never had a Problem with them either. Its not that they 'Hate' black americans. Alot of times they are just a little culturally different. Alot of them seem to look at us as dumb and lazy. Plus theybwould rather their kids marry other Africans. Its crazy

As a black person with a Black mom and West African father, I have to say it goes both ways. I’ve heard stories of Nigerians being called African booty scratchers or teased about their “weird names”. Black Americans would also make assumptions about Africans believing that they came from huts or were primitive. Even Jamaicans and West Indians were judged the same way. It’s a utter and complete lie that “African Americans accept everyone”. Shit, until very recently y’all would reject your own if they didn’t “act black”, and very few of y’all have actually gone back to your supposed home continent or have tried to help develop it.
"until very recently" naw this never happened lol. Black americans still very much shun anyone who "acts white" or "isnt black enough" lol i saw it all the time growing up and i still see it now as an adult.
It does go both ways but let's not get it twisted. A LOT of black immigrants simply move to black hoods where ignorance is the norm (for a number of institutional reasons). Most educated blacks here (and there are more that are than aren't) aren't on that bullshit. We know we're all cousins basically. But A LOT of yall come over here addresssend simply reside in low income areas where cyclical poverty has been institutionalized in the home and surrounding institutions for hundreds of years.
Black mom and west African mother. I thought I would never hear that. I am interested to know how the West Africans look like? I thought they were black
So true👏👏
Exactly. I usually agree with Godfrey but he's talking nonsense on this one. Also didn't Freeway Rick Ross flood the black community with crack in the 80s leading to widespread death and destruction in the black community? This is really the guy who should be saying who's looking down on who?

Paulos Kidane It’s really no perfect answer. But can be so many reasons I say we are uneducated about our history as a black culture. we have no self of direction The future of black Americans I just don’t know
And homosexuals.
Don't forget the homosexuals. The biggest double standard hypocrisy comes from black ghetto communities. Homophobic to the core. If you're a black trans male and you live in the ghetto. You're bound to get bullied, beaten or killed.
When I was in high school in the 90s, the black Americans was always harassing the Haitians in my school just because they were Haitians and I couldn't understand that. I, myself see all black the same, and respect everyone's culture.
