High noon has many qualities to it it is as great a picture as gone with the wind or Casablanca after all these years it is probably being realized this film had quite a bit of clout to it Casablanca made bogey what he is gone with the wind made a great star out of Vivian Lee but high noon is an All-Star movie filled with character actors and television actors from that period Cooper deservedly won the best Oscar award this did not happen for Bogart or Gable in two best known roles nominating a western for anything rarely happens John Wayne in true grit Oscar high noon has to go up on the charts as one of the greatest films ever made the awards that it was given were deserved only the New York's film critics award for Best picture tells you which award it wasn't given because of the really rotten politics of the 1950s that have finally come back to try to take us all over again hopefully everyone will stand up like Cooper did in this film we can only hope like I said one of the greatest movies one of the 10 greatest films of all time!!!
This was my dad's favourite film 🎥. He used to sing the song to. My dad had dementia and vascular dementia. And we would play this song plus he was a jim reeves fan to. And he rembered all the words to all the songs 🎵. Yet he thought that our mum was still alive. It's a horrible disease for everyone who's family member who has this rotten disease. Wouldn't wish it on any one.
My wife and I have watched this movie so many times and we have never been bored with it ,we will watch it till we are no more,Gary Cooper is my wife's favourite actor .and thought he was very good looking in this movie..

The magic of films from, this era, do exactly that , hold you in suspense & fill you with the total tension, so much so that you live every minute with the people in the film. This movie showed that for Sheriff Cane, the principal was more important than his life. He didn't want to be a lying coward in his grave, but a brave man who fought against the threat to his life, while the entire town backstabbed him for money.
A masterpiece! All the more since John Ford and John Wayne literally HATED it and branded it as '"Unamerican". Quite the opposite: it's about human nature. There's nothing more American than facing who we really are. Take it all. The Good, the Bad and Redemption
I love John Wayne but wholeheartedly disagree I think High Noon shows perfectly how to stand up for what you believe in and do the right thing even if it is not the popular thing to do.
It’s interesting that my three favorite westerns-High Noon, The Searchers, and The Big Country-all end with just this kind of moment. The hero stands alone, somewhat confused, but still determined. In The Big Country, three of the major character-Jean Simmons, Greg Peck, and Charlton Heston-all face it in succession. Also, all three were made in the mid-50s, within a span of 6 years.
Beautifully executed Senior Editor: the 2-minutes before the shrill of the train whistle is the best cutting summary of a whole Western theme ever completed. It is unmatched.
One of the great films that will continue to stand the test of time. The story; the music and the moral of the story are timeless. I never tire of watching and listening to this gem.

This scene is a true masterpiece. In few seconds the Director was able to describe the loliness of a man who knows what is right to do even if it will cost his life. Aside from this the miserable selfishness of common men who sit and watch. Afraid of being involved. But ready to clap the winner.. whoever it will be. that's why this scene is immortal. Cause Men are always the same.

A very well made movie, one of my favorite movies, Gary Cooper happens to one of my favorite actors. What John Wayne had to say about the way his badge was descarded was not so. Undoubtedly John didn't watch the movie. This movie is located in the White House library and has been viewed by many Presidents. Long live Gary Cooper ( Yep)

Dimitri Tiomkin saved this movie. The producers showed the film to a test audience. Their reaction was so negative, that the producers actually shelved the film, not intending to release it. Tiomkin hearing about this decision, approached the producers with an offer to buy the rights to the soundtrack and song. They agreed, once the documents were signed, Tiomkin's record company agreed to release High Noon as a single. Impressed by the success of the song, the producers then released it hoping for the best.

There are a number of good movies. If I had to pick one; High Noon is the best. I first saw it, in the the theatre, when it was first released.
Here is a terrific western song written by a Russian composer sung by a western movie star Tex Ritter. Love the bongos in the background.
