- I'm continuing to practice and experiment with my new speedpaints by painting this dragonborn fighter! In this video I try using metallics and mixing the paints together to get lots of variation in the leathers.
The colors in this video are all found in the 10 paint starter box of speedpaints from the Army Painter!
I'll be using speedpaints to paint a full 40 piece set of undead mermaids! Check out my channel to watch every brushstroke.
This model is from Artisan Guild on Patreon! @andreatarabella4202
love that you paint all the Artisan Guild minis! im absolutely obsessed with their art style. makes me happy to see them get this kind of love.
I love them too! I have the whole welcome set all printed and drybrushed and ready to speed paint.
@@chillminipainting i havent gotten to print any of the dragon set yet. really excited about them. just got a saturn s a few days ago. gotta reorganize my whole room so i can set it up. then ill have both printer running to get some of the new sets printed out. working on a couple of the demon imps with the giant swords from a while back until then.
@@danbergene8321 very cool! You should share your setup once you get it sorted out.
I recently bought the 2.0 speed paint mega set and I'm glad to find this channel. You have a lot of content for me to learn thank you
Best way to learn is by doing right? 🙂 What are you going to paint?
@chillminipainting yes I bought darksouls boardgame a while back and now that I purchased the paint set that will be my first project. After that the sky's the limit
Hey there, another good recipe for metallics is to put down a silver base, then once it's dry go over it with the tone speedpaint. The silver, then zealot yellow will give great results for a polished gold, I'm definitely noting your mix results for weathered metallics.
Ooo okay thanks for the advice! I will try that the next time I want to tint some metal.
Yeah, you can achieve some great armor tints, if your looking for a brighter look, ive tried vallejo chrome and then the speedpaint. but im sure any chrome or bright silver would work.
I have been experimenting with drybrushing highlights in different colors than the base color, and I really like it. You've earned a new sub from me, and I would like to see a video of you drybrushing highlights on this and other minis.
Thanks for watching! I'll do some highlighting in the new year for sure 👍
Yes, yes, yes. Do highlights highlights highlights
Thanks for watching!! 😊
Just what I was looking for. You got a new sub. Would be interested in your highlight video. Just trying to decide between the mega set and complete set. I have the 1.0 Speedpaints already but need to be able to brush varnish and not have reactivation
Thanks for the sub! Reactivation has not been an issue at all with these paints. The opposite has been true really - it dries on the palette so fast that you need to be careful to not use too much at a time.
Army painter has a rattle can of matte varnish, if you're just needing to protect the final product.
@@IndyMotoRider cheers, I have rattlecan varnish but it's not the best weather to use them just now and I can't use brush on for speedpaint 1.0. I've a bunch of 2.0 on their way now and they'll be fine with brush on varnish
Keep up the good work buddy! Im in your boat. I purchased all the speed paints lol and I love watching ppl use them. I'm sub #53! :D
Thank you my guy I appreciate the sub! If this channel takes off you'll be a real OG.
Well done!
Thanks for watching!
Since the paints are already transparent, I'm not sure that you have to mix with the paints with the metallic.
I think a good process would be to paint the metallic first and then glaze over it with the color you want.
Just an Idea.
That is a good idea... I'll try that for sure!
Thanks for watching!
I've haven't painted before, but backed a Kickstarter for an Elden Ring board game that will come with a ton of miniatures. I've decided to use Army Painter Speedpaints so this vid was perfect. Subbed for more, notifications on!
Thanks so much for watching! 😊
I too dabble with cheap craft gray paint as a mid tone for drybrushing, lol. Good video
Cheaper the better!! lol
Thanks for watching!
Hey, Thanks for the videos. I've recenetly got back into painting, having not done it since my school days 30+ something years ago. So I'm watching as much as I can, especially Army Painter Speed Paints stuff, which I have chosen as the paints I'm going to use. I will say I have found the Slapchop seems to leave my models\colours too dark when they are finshed. Not sure if I'm not dry brushing the white heavy enough. Anyway I have switched to using just a white primer (Matt White or Brainmatter Beige) which gives me brighter results. Maybe you could do a test using a couple of models, one with Slapchop and the other white primer and see what you think of the SpeedPaints?
Interesting idea! I know the army painter recommends putting the speedpaint on a white base coat. I'll see what I can do... 😏
Thanks for watching!
There are a few channels that did this comparison already, they're worth checking:
@goobertown @watchitpaintit @miniaturehobbyist @danahowl @artisopus
Great resources with lots of techniques for priming.
This channel is lovely too especially for mixing Speedpaints which doesn't really happen on other channels 👍
@@sirpoupadou thanks for watching! I've loved watching those other folks for years.
Great vid! What kind of resin 3d printer did you use?
Thanks for watching! I use an anycubic mono.
