Small correction to how she ended up where she was in 5th ed: She eventually took a page from her mother’s book and sequestered herself in the Feywild, where she assumed the guise of an archfey and carved out a spectacular domain for herself. Gradually, Iggwilv transformed into a Fey creature, though she outwardly appears human.
In real life Tasha was a girl who wrote to Gary Gygax suggesting a spell involving laughter, I wonder if she knows she has gained D&D immortality? In Gary’s D&D lore Tasha and Iggwilv were two separate people.
I did not know that, very cool stuff, is that in a dragon magazine or something? Dnd does that sometime they just take two names of characters from older lore and claim they’re the same person, I swear every notable wizard has had 3 aliases
Tasha joins Doctor Doom in the list of supervillains who could easily conquer the world but after a few tries just decide it's too much of a bother and settle on ruling their own small domain.
When I found out it was her in wild beyond the witch light, it initially caught me off guard and was a interesting twist for where her tale went. Over all I got mixed feelings, but, it's great to see her still around.
Good video on my all-time favorite D&D villain, although you did seem to miss a few things: her adopted LG sister Elena, the Hura identity in Lopolla, her time as a member of the Company of Seven, her daughter Drelzna, and any mention of the cloak Fiend's Embrace (the image of Graz'zt setting it on her shoulders is possibly my favorite D&D artwork of all time). Also, "Demonomicon" has five syllables, not six. On the other hand, thank you for reminding me why I hate most of 5e lore with the recap of whatever happened in the garbage carnival module they stuffed her into.
Yet, I get the distinct feeling that, if not to make her own weave, become a candidate to replace its present being? I think she's on a long path to transforming herself as "a little bit of everything" towards something of that end.
Man I recall the encounter with her in Wild Beyond the Witch Light. I became scared and terrified of our situation because of my player knowledge, and due to my character being a Hag hunter due to his backstory. I asked my DM if the name was known to my character due to his backstory. Which, one of the rare times for me, the DM said yes I **DO** know the name and the weight, lore, and history behind it. The other players, not knowing the lore of the character, were all shock when my Blood Hunter took a knee and with a grudging, but fearful respect to Iggwilv I said. "I had hoped to never cross your shadow, despite the many hags I felled with my sacred mission. Yet, here we are and I know I stand no chance against the Queen Mother of Witches. I only hope a swift end if nothing else." Oddly and perhaps due to the DM just liking us enough, had Iggwilv not merc my Blood Hunter on the spot; especially since at the time our party had rack up a body count on Hags since our Ravenloft expedition.
Ed is still the best. His lore and vocalizations is still as incredible as it was in my youth. You and R.A are the reasons i feel in love with Drow and their lore.
I ran Wild Beyond The Witchlight. Definitely added Baba Yaga as a looming threat that might return for the players to deal with if we continue in the Feywild. More importantly, I definitely showed the players the power of Tasha and who they were really dealing with at the end of the campaign. Tasha’s only in Prismeer to amass power and avoid enemies who are now working together to hunt her down. Soon, she will unleash her fury upon them. My players understood very quickly that she had near deity-level power and that they would not survive a fight against her. They saw the aftermath of how she massacred her captors, haha.
I can’t brook Tasha just deciding to be good. Like, she can have a redemption arc, but goddamn, she had no accountability and thinking she could just flip the script sounds exactly what some powerful being would do. And so she the real villain of Witchlight for me. And i think it’s way more in step that she stole Prismeer from some other archfey, played the long game w him, bided her time, and pulled the rug out. The characters will have a resolution much like Witchlight offers, but there will be big loose threads, and they will KNOW who she is and what she did and they will know that they set her loose once again. It’s largely up to them to do something about it

@@xxxpyrosxxx OE is a reference to a specific rune of the old Norse Alphabet It's often used for "Home" or "Origin"". Showing the world as Ancient and magical, but nonetheless, Home. It's actually pretty cool.
It's a shame that they decided to kill Greyhawk and just rip some of its famous NPCs out and shove them into other stories. Becoming a fey is so out of character for Tasha/Iggwilv. She hated the feywild when she lived with Baba-Yaga.
My players are running wbtw, and im planning on writing a story about her and the demon prince that would justify her will to do good, it's pretty complicated on one leg, but it is pretty ooc.
