    That shell swap looks pretty amazing! Just curious, where exactly did you find this replacement shell at online because I’m looking to do this myself? Also does the Nintendo 64 faceplate on the front come with this shell or is it separate? Any help would be appreciated!

      Hey thanks! It's a fairly simple project to do. I got it off aliexpress and it did come with a new N64 faceplate. Best of luck with the swap! Thanks for watching!

    What did you do with those extra two pieces? I saw you had them in your hand and put them to the side but I didn't see you install them. I just got one and I'm trying to figure out what those two pieces go to?

    • @whitehairvillain36
      @whitehairvillain36 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sure they go inside on either side of the cartridge holder... I abandoned mine too, because you'd need two extra screws to install them... Plus they are unnecessary... Although it would be cool to use them if you can be bothered... 🤷

    • @NoNonsenseJohnson

      They go in the cartridge dust cover slots

    very nice color. i cannot find them in europe, only from usa or uk or asia and i have to pay 40% import taxes and higher shipping. still i got official ones, jungle green, fire orange, ice blue, grape purple and clear white-blue. i hope i find cheap deals for watermelon and smoke in the future...

    I'm currently in the process of refurbishing and modifying my childhood N64 so I can play games from both US and Japan, and I'm currently looking for a replacement for the top shell since there is a chip in the back and some of these screw holders kinda broke.... Word of advice for anyone interested in modding your 64... BE SURE TO BE CAREFUL WHEN TAKING APART AND PUTTING YOUR SYSTEM BACK TOGETHER

    this is on my list too, but not on my orignal n64 that thing is 24 years old and its my first cosnole i ever bright. so i get a nother one, do a shell swap and try some led mod too ^^

    I need to swap my jungle green n64 as it powers on but doesn't load up the games anymore, so I will buy the cheap common grey one to swap it

    the only thing im not sure about is mine came with two extra pieces, and there is no instructions to tell you what each piece is for so i have no clue what they are used for, my original console shell didnt have these pieces so i assume they are only for certain console revisions like japan vs NA or something idk

  • @AlbertPuljos

    I seen somebody selling one of these on eBay, but a completed console but the blank space where the logo is said Nintendo, anybody know how this is possible?? I haven’t seen any with the Nintendo logo so I’m guessing he somehow engraved it? I have a photo.

    This might be a dumb question but can you totally swap an American N64 board with a Japanese one so they are both in the opposite shell? (Got a cool Japanese shell but the insides are a bit rusty)

    • @theconsolecollector

    How is the quality compared to a normal n64?

    • @theconsolecollector
      @theconsolecollector  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the ear and the extreme green they offer. Honestly the quality is amazing. I can't even tell the difference between the original funtastic n64 and this shell. I've had some cheaper overseas shells for gba and DS and they were poor quality but this one I was impressed with

  • @emmettturner9452
    @emmettturner9452 ปีที่แล้ว

    When taking apart the console you do not need to pop out the Jumper or Expansion Pak. It will come out with the top shell.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I suggest a #2 Phillips for most screws though you will need a smaller one for the two on either side of the memory expansion slot.

    • @theconsolecollector
      @theconsolecollector  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct I just like to pop them out 1st

    We only got a glimpse, but I was interested how good the picture from the N64 was on your CRT TV. What cables do you hook it up with?

    • @theconsolecollector
      @theconsolecollector  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I run S video cables for my N64

    • @digitalblasphemy1100
      @digitalblasphemy1100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theconsolecollector I just wanted to add a little tid-bit here even though it wasn't asked: When playing the N64 on a CRT, I started with upgrading to a quality handmade in US S-Video cable and noticed an improvement. I bought into RGB modding the 64 so I purchased an RGB modded NS1 N64 and used the HD Retrovision component cable on the same 36" Sony Trinitron TV and swapped between S-Video and Component, took close up photos etc. I swear to you, the perceptible difference is ZERO in my opinion and I have absolutely OBSESSED over the picture quality of the N64. Having said that, I ultimately purchased a jungle green N64 modded with Borti's Advanced RGB along with the deblur switch and THAT is the ultimate analogue option hands down. Even without the deblur, there is something about borti's RGB mod that enhances the RGB a noticeable amount compared to the NS1 RGB mod. Anyway, to sum up, a quality S-video cable is the way to go but if you want to go crazy, get borti's rgb mod with deblur switch. If deblur is not appealing to you, do not RGB mod, it is not worth the difference in quality. I cannot even tell at all.

    This looks very easy! Way easier than changing the shells on my Joy Cons 😶 if I could do that, I can swap my N64’s shell no problem 😂

    • @theconsolecollector
      @theconsolecollector  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is very possible with some basic tools and skills. You can definitely do it, the joycons are a pain, the N64 would be a piece of cake for you!
