Whilst I don't speak Faeroese myself, as a Swedish speaker, I speculate Lítla Dímun probably might translate to "Small Fog-Island" (it sounds similar enough to something like "Lilla Dimön" in Swedish which would have that meaning) Also, speaking of atoll formation, saying the volcanic islands simply sank is a gross exaggeration. Most are a result of erosion, as a volcano goes extinct, then wind and waves will simply wear down the rock over time until little is left other than the pieces under the water which are kept stable and relatively safe from wave erosion thanks to the coral reefs protecting the rock underneath. In fact if you follow the Hawaiian-Emperor Seamount chain you can see all the stages of the lifecycle of volcanic isles

Hey fellow Be Amazed viewers! I'd just like to point out that Õkunoshima isn't exactly as it might seem at first. The rabbits are descendants of domestic rabbits-essentially feral. They rely wholly upon tourists for food and have virtually no medical care. They are also not socialized to "behave" around humans, and there are signs that warn you not to try to pick them up. The rabbits are cute, and they will swarm you for the food you have, but they are still skittish and often have injuries from fighting each other.
@@ravent3016 do you not understand the word FERAL? There is no way to domesticate, socialize or medically treat the bunnies. They'll harm you and themselves just for food. Leave them alone. People watch too much TV, movies and cartoons.

Aww Christmas Island, lovely name... and awww, it’s beautiful with all that red and, Aghhh crabs, crabs.
It sucks when your island has crabs you can't eat
@@kingothesilentswordsman4440 Oh you can't eat them?

Hey fellow Be Amazed viewers! I'd just like to point out that Õkunoshima isn't exactly as it might seem at first. The rabbits are descendants of domestic rabbits-essentially feral. They rely wholly upon tourists for food and have virtually no medical care. They are also not socialized to "behave" around humans, and there are signs that warn you not to try to pick them up. The rabbits are cute, and they will swarm you for the food you have, but they are still skittish and often have injuries from fighting each other.
That makes me sad. I think there needs to be a lot of sterilization and immunization efforts, along with adoption. :(
@@ravent3016 do you not understand the word FERAL? There is no way to domesticate, socialize or medically treat the bunnies. They'll harm you and themselves just for food. Leave them alone.
People watch too much TV, movies and cartoons.

13:47 When I saw Vulcan Point in the lake of the Taal Volcano, all I could think about was Crater Lake, Oregon. Anyone else see the similarity to Wizard Island or maybe Phantom Ship? I just hope Mount Mazama doesn't decide to do the same thing the Taal Volcano did in January of 2020. 🙀

I would prefer Christmas Island! I am a Cancer (B-Day July 16th!) So us crabs have to stick together!
Sable Island sounds like it might make for a decent nature reserve. To an extent.
There are eco tours to Sable Island. The island is also surrounded by a lot of shipwrecks.
The Taal Eruption was incredible! Just before the pandemic started. The air smelled like the 4th of July at 10pm in US and we had to keep the windows closed that night. We scraped 6 kilos of ash off our roof about a year ago, and we have family members who live just outside of the border for evacuation zone. Happy Independence Day to US and FIl-Am Friendship Day to the Philippines!
I never thought i would find someone talking about the taal volcano in the philipines 😢. Pilipino rin ako pre

So irresponsible !!!!
Not correct the tests on Cristmas Island were in the one in the Pacific not the Indian Ocean. quite wikepaedia "Operation Grapple was a set of four British nuclear weapons test series of early atomic bombs and hydrogen bombs carried out in 1957 and 1958 at Malden Island and Kiritimati (Christmas Island) in the Gilbert and Ellice Islands in the Pacific Ocean (modern Kiribati) as part of the British hydrogen bomb programme."
