    FlyWire is about exploring flight and the freedom this incredible experience brings us on a personal level. Flying has always captured the imagination and excitement of living life to its fullest. Hi, I'm Scott Perdue. In a former life I flew the F-4 and F-15E, more recently I retired from a major airline. I've written for several aviation magazines over the years, was a consultant for RAND, the USAF, Navy, NASA as well as few others, wrote a military thriller- 'Pale Moon Rising' (still on Kindle). But mostly I like flying, or teaching flying. Some of the most fun I had was with Tom Gresham on a TV show called 'Wings to Adventure". We flew lots of different airplanes all over the country. Now with FlyWire I want to showcase the fun in flying, share the joy and freedom of flight and explore the world with you. Make sure you subscribe if you want to go along for the ride!

    Thanks Scott... gives me some insight to what I'm having installed in my '73 Cardinal. Waited almost a year for all the Garmin gear to come in (still waiting on servos). Can't wait to try her out!

    Thanks for the demo, Gunny. I’m almost done with my homebuilt w ESP and you got me thinking. My first few flights in Phase 1 I’ll be able to kill the entire autopilot system via virtual circuit breaker in my Vertical Power solid state system. I like that you have a kill switch for aerobatics.

    Thank you for doing this. Haven’t been comfortable enough to do this on my own. Now I will.

    Used the GFC autopilot now for two years and can only say I’m satisfied. Specially on stabilized approaches in windy conditions, it can still manage. It is still doing a great work and you can take over relaxed when it is time to land. One feature I like going places is the track function. Together with the G3X you can see a track line on the map where you can adjust exactly where you want to go and it follows it accurately, independent of wind. Often when controller tells a heading I put in track and answer the controller with “track XX°” and they are very satisfied with the results.

    Wow very nice, exactly what was needed in that B58, N495AU crash last week.

    Thanks Scott. I’m learning this autopilot in a C182RG and really like it’s features and performance!

    Love your videos, I started to do your fuel management method of running on one tank till there is a noticeable flow decrease and then switch instead of the 30 minute switch method it gives me a better idea of how much fuel I really have left and time in the air till my next stop. I fly a F33A. Do you plan on making any approach videos with the Garmin auto pilot? Thank you for your videos and the time that you take to educate the aviation community.

    I upgraded my 182 panel including a GFC500 last summer. Shortly after I took a guy flying and asked him if he wanted to see a stall. I forgot about ESP. Yep, it wouldn’t let me. Now for slow flight and stall practice I turn it off completely.

    You have airline style flight director bars on your PFI, I'm jealous. I can't set that up on my G500txi.

    Thanks Scott, great video as always. By the way does anyone know what is going on with Baron Pilot, have not heard from him in 2months or so?

    Nobody uses the TRK mode. Nobody even mentions it in their demonstration of this unit. Why Garmin even put it on the panel is beyond me….

    Hi Scott, how did you turn down the volume of the Garmin autopilot disconnect tone?

    • @FlyWirescottperdue
      @FlyWirescottperdue  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't. The ESP acts without actually engaging the autopilot. If ESP is engaged for more than 10 seconds it will fully activate the autopilot. I demonstrated this in the video.

      That Tone Volume has been turned down when the video was edited.

    Slightly difficult voice audio. Engine noise is at the same level as voice. I use Bluetooth headphones and can hear all videos clearly except this one. Maybe Noise Cancellation is off.

    • @Tylercm262
      @Tylercm262 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm also on BT headphones and can hear the voice just fine. Maybe the bass is too high on yours. Mine are pretty evenly balanced so that could be it.
