My husband was excited to see this video. We lived most our married life where we grew, in the Appalachia mountains of south western Virginia, and he used to get used belting that was used in the coal mining industry. It was good for all kinds of things, but we moved to Florida seven years ago so no more belting. Lots of horse people down here, so now he's on the look out for horse matting! Thanks Pat 👍
We often never know what to expect when putting out videos like this. We have know idea if they will be of any use but figure it is at least worth the time because there just may be that one person that could glean something from it :)
Just love watching you and your wife, you're people after all my own heart. If anything can be reused or repurposed I do it. My only problem most times is, I have a thousand ideas and uses for things but never enough of the item to go around. I have to sit back and think hard, then decide what project can benefit most from the material I have available
Ok totally off topic Mr Rain, but really like the haircut or beard trim. Not sure what's different but looks really nice. How does Mrs Rain like it? Love how you guys are handy enough to repurpose. I'm trying to get on my sewing machine more to do the same. You guys always inspire!
We have saved a fortune over the years with Momma Rain cutting my hair. I just make sure all my sins are forgiven with her and she is in a good mood before she cuts it :D
Thank you Pat! 🙂 Many many years ago I used to work in a fabric shop that also sold foam rubber. We often use a serrated kitchen knife and a yardstick. It worked great too. So, how much does your 'supervisor' get paid?☺️ Blessings! 💜
Serrated knives work good as well. With something like this a good quality, sturdy serrated blade is important so one maintains rigidity and it won't break under pressure. Thanks!
Another good information video Patrick. I have always used a utility knife when cutting matting and never really thought about using a saw. As I get older the saw may be a lot easier if I cut heavy dense matting. Thanks for the info. I bet Heidi could push that dozer right up the ramps if it slips, she seems so full of energy. lol Phil
@@watchandpray8918 if you are asking me what we do with rubber mats in the horse business - we put on the ground of the stall to keep horses from pawing holes in the stalls. We also use them in the trailers as it makes it more comfortable for horses to travel with those under their feet.
This video was shot BEFORE going to get the dozer. While he did not think to catch any video of loading it up, we do have a video scheduled to publish next Wednesday showing the dozer and running it.
Congrats on the newly acquired equipment!
Thanks!
What a nice clean job Patrick on that rubber mat! I see the boss came into see what you were doing. I sure enjoy seeing that little boy.
We gotta make sure he gets in the shot so you keep coming back to watch us Wendy :D

Ha ha, I have the same problem with deciding on what to use saved materials on!
👍 great job Mr Rain, blessings
After cutting them we didn't end up using them to load or unload the dozer...but now we have them handy in case we decide to!
@@MrRain-hk4zi yes, you will definitely find a use for them, I'm sure 👍
Right tool for the right job.
Worked great, thanks!
Hello Pat nice demonstration on cutting Horse mats and doing it the safe way 👍🏾
Great vid. 👍

I am the one that cuts his hair and he does his own beard. I usually cut his hair a bit shorter in the summer months :)
@@RainCountryHomestead well I have a husband and two boys that would run for the hills if I came near them with clippers! You do a great job!

Ha ha! I'm glad you clarified that she was full of energy as to why she could push the dozer up the ramps 😅

Yer welcome :)
I used to train thoroughbred race horses. I have had many of those black rubber mats. Extremely durable. .
What do they do with those mats? 🤔

That is also a good use of horse mats :)
I wish we could have seen the loading of the equipment in action.

I should do more videos of that kind of stuff. I have had a couple of requests but not sure how much folks would enjoy them. Thanks for the input.
