Oh, and P.S. When I made emergency candles many years ago I purchased off brand vegetable shortening in a can and put in a taper candle for the wick. I have used these in power outages for over ten years and it seems they will last forever. I keep them in a readily access able area with the lid on and easy strike matches taped to the lid. When I need them they are just right there. When I'm finished, I pop the lid back on and put them back in there spot.

I used to use the tapered candles but they were to expensive. I found a box of menorah candle in a thrift store, 60 for $3.00 with 25% senior discount. Perfect length for pint jars and those sizes.

Old plastic prescription medicine bottles can be used to store coins in car for an emergency, toll bridges, etc.
Old gum 35-piece plastic pouches can be used to carry shopping lists, keys, $$, and any paperwork that can be folded.
Old short pieces of wrapping paper can be used to cover up shoe boxes with color & flair.
Old large soda bottles can be used for long term storage of grains, cereal, etc.

Take a look on the Crisco shortning and in the logo it has a flame as part of the design.
In the depression Crisco was mainly used as lighting , megga candles
You just shove a few taper candles in to the tube and the taper candles are basicly there wicks .
But the diffent size tubs , you have to know how many taper candles to use.
You can add sents to it if you like and this method is called the 45 day emergency candle.
Yep should last 45 days :)

I do not shame people for where they shop, I shop at places others call evil (Amazon for instance) and no matter how righteous anyone thinks they are because of their own personal shopping habits, they are still purchasing products made by slave labor or shopping at places someone else would deem as wicked. We all have to do the best we can with what we have and that is all there is to it :)
The main reason I do not shop at walmart is the closest one is 75 miles away and I just hate going into the store anyway. Something about it makes me literally feel physically ill. Not sure what it is but I am not the only one to have issues with it. I DO, however, purchase the black oil sunflower seeds for my chickens through Walmart online and have it delivered as it is the best price I can find on them when I am unable to make the trip to town to buy them from Costco

You can use shampoo in you washing machine.
You will get rid of a bottle of shampoo in 2 or 3 loads .
    Gone.
Its strips body oils off your clothing a hot wash .
Your cothing or bedding that dosent get really soiled.
Your just removing sweat or body oils off fabric.
Citrus peel , you cant compost it or put in your worm farm but you can dry it out , as i do on a raised plate that sits on to of my fire place and once its dry enough to snap , i store it in old coffee jars to use them as fighter lighter in my fire place.
They work well. Just stick about an orange peels worth tucked in to your kindling and once that catches alight, it will burn really hot for a bit to get your fire started with only twigs , no paper in your fire place.
Paper, i save to make fire bricks instead. Saves on wood .
You thing with the flannel, i chopped up 2 pairs of old pjs that ripped only last week to added in to the inbetween the outer fabric and the linning on a coat, in the sleeves and around the chest and back to add a thin extra layer of warmth in a vintage coat .
Its thin but its so much warmer.
Just like wearing a flannel shirt extra layer but hidden in a beautiful old coat that a flannel shirt would not have gone with , style wise.
    You would never know.
    Old wool blankets.
Ive made duffle coats and cute pinnaforms for kids.
Linned with a old floral sheet and used the print as actcents and pockets in these too .
Cant say the kids are not warm if they have 2 layers of blanket on as their clothing .. umm may add old flannel as a inner layer between the blanket abd sheet as i did with my coat .. extra warm .
Do you have maccona coffee there?
If so , ive found that the plastic seal on the glass lids comes off.
I am now storing all sorts of stuff in not only the jars but im using the lids as sealed storage too.

Good morning, Heidi! Have you ever just washed your dry hair with solid coconut oil? I have long blonde hair and I take a handful and distribute it on my wet scalp, then work it for a few minutes. I leave it there, then take another large dollop and distribute it throughout my wet locks. Then I work my fingers through to detangle. Finish bathing and rinse out. Luxious, (that's Luscious and luxurious combined) moisturized locks and my hair is thoroughly clean.
