@sanity You think that that would've made them even more hype. The reaction sucked compared to the King's Fall team. Professor Broman almost passed out from shouting after Oryx died.
Oryx's "bomb" attack only happens if you damage him and he's at half health or higher. The "Darksouls" attack happens if you either don't detonate the bombs or Oryx is under half health.
Oryx initially feels like your “dark lord” trope in any book or show. He’s cruel, imposing intimidating, merciless, all he desires is to kill and conquer; but he so much more than that. He sought revenge on those that killed his son, he led his people out amongst the starts and ruled a terrifying empire. He endured his rule could never be challenged, he believed in the sword logic and was unquestionably loyal to the Witness, even to the day he died. He created a legacy that, while it was destroyed by Savathun and the Guardians, still lives on in weapons like the Touch of Malice, the trauma he inflicted on others, and the Taken that, while he borrowed them from the Witness, they continue Oryx’s work. With the deaths they inflict on the system, as the Taken never stay dead, and never retreat. Oryx was truly a villain to fear, not due to his power alone, but how he’d irreversibly scarred the Sol system.
You should do solo Aksis history as well! This was really cool :) As someone who only soloed Aksis recently (about a couple months ago) I think that would be a really nice vid.
9:17 that isnt how it works. It depends on his health at what attack he will do. If u do the 1 shot nuke strat he will only spawn the shade for the entire encouter till he dies (it goes like this 100% health-shade 75% health- bombs 50% health- shade 25% health- bombs). And because he doesnt take damage till the end (if ur doing the 16 bomb strat) he will only do the shade attack Great video non the less
This also isn’t quite how it works. Oryx will spawn a shade if he 1) regains favour of darkness (your team doesn’t detonate any bombs that round) or 2) if he is at 50% health of below. You can get 8 bombs of damage off, then detonate one bomb next round and he will still spawn shade. So 25% health will always equal a shade, whether you detonated 12 bombs to get there or 1.

This is, of course, only part of the history of Solo Oryx. Because we’re still working on dissecting the encounter to this day. But this is a nice intro, for sure
It would be really cool if Destiny reached out to whoever completed world firsts for raids, and asked them what they wanted their in game guardian names to be (i.e. Zavala, Cayde-6, Ikora, Lord Shaxx, etc.).
