Luin's grudge against Bellri, to the point of wanting to kill his old classmate, definitely makes more sense here than in the TV series. On top of the repeated humiliation he suffered at the G-self's hands, he sees Bellri wipe out tons of people -- even his own supposed allies the Amerian Army -- with the photon torpedoes. No wonder he thinks Bellri will become a dictator if he's allowed to have the absolute power of the G-self as well as his family's status as VIPs from Venus Globe/Towasanga.
Even in the show, you have to consider Cumpa’s influence on Luin. Even if it isn’t shown we know Cumpa instigated a lot of the conflict behind the scenes (willingly letting Aida escape with Bellri, Noredo, and Raraiya in tow so he can make the Capital Army look better for example)
G-Reco has some really great animation - even in the series when you can see certain fight scenes cut down or missing certain action scenes, these movies have really scenes and the series feels so underappreciated.

It still feels like it is rushed and lacking in clarity and you can really tell that it is a compilation movie at times due to a lot of rather sudden cuts and the like. And all the radom side switching and disjointed dialogue is still there. But at the very least it doesn't feel like pulling teeth when watching it now and is somewhat half enjoyable even if a lot of stuff still doesn't make much sense.

ガンダムシリーズでGレコが一番好きだわ。 A god tier animation in terms of drawing, movement, and emotional power. A boy who becomes a mass murderer due to the overwhelming power of a weapon, and a soldier who tries to kill his former friend out of righteous indignation. Gundam Reconguista in G is a work in the true Gundam spirit. It is truly encouraging that Tomino continues to produce his best work at his age.
This fight really shows just how skillful Belleri and Luin really are as pilots, Belleri with zero packs and two beam sabers with careful use of the enviorment holds off two aces, Luin meanwhile in the less technically impressive Mack Knife manages to really push Belleri till his defeat

Nope. It's not the same. The movie have rewrites so it is different than the series. I say watch both so that you can notice the differences but if you have to pick, go with the movie as the rewrites corrects a lot of stupid stuff in the series.
In the beginning it is fairly similar to the series but it makes more and more rewrites as it goes on. From what I hear, the last movie and maybe the fourth as well is almost all new content, though don't quote me on that one. While it is still far from a great show and many of the old issues still remain, the movies appear to be a massive improvement.
@Hi-Priest seems like it was used as a diversion, which is pretty common in gundam and to lighten its load. I'm guessing they want us to think they were almost spent, and the core fighter probably kept it going a little longer. Also makes sense why he doesn't pursue any further. Just doesn't have the range or operational time for anything more than that blocked final strike.

Berli stays where he is and uses the light he emitted when he ejected the battery to mislead Ruin into believing that he has put himself out. After ambushing him, Belli cut Ruin off as he chased after him and pointed his gun at the battery.
G-Self has Photon Battery all over it's body. So there're no problem for continue battles even if loss knee batteries. But at last battle, G-Self's battery was already empty.
They cut the scene where Aida decides to take the shot, but Bellri here still sees Luin as his senpai even though they are on opposing sides. I like how they go blow for blow while still exchanging just how they feel about the situation at hand.

ガンダムの作品て基本的に、MSやMA等の機体を使って間接的に人間同士が戦っている作品がほとんどですし、Gレコも例に洩れないですけど、このシーンはGセルフとマックナイフが人間同士だけではなく「機体同士」でも戦っているって事を強調しているようで、この戦闘シーンだけでも劇場に見に行って良かったと思えました。

富野監督の空間、重力表現って初代ガンダムから一貫してますよね。人形なので飛行に向かないのでサブフライト(ドダイとか)を活用するとか、ブースターでジャンプしたあとに落下してくる表現は７０年代ではオーパーツ染みた表現です。他監督作品でMSが空中でピンで止めたようにビタドメされてるのとは対照的です

Gレコはゲームでしか知らなかったけれど、作画も声優さんの演技もすげぇな。思わず唾を飲み込んでしまった。
