One of the best recordings I've heard. What a great sound and fantastic virtuosity on such a tricky instrument. I prefer this to a lot of the modern versions.
I guess this guy is called Marcus Wurcsh as I think I've seen on another video. I wonder why his name is not mentionned here and why isn't he more famous. He makes keyed trumpet sound good (which it is not supposed to do !).
There was a keyed trumpet in the Holton factory in Elkhorn Wisconsin when I worked there. Unfortunately it was unplayable and I offered to repad it but Leon didn't want it touched.
This is excellent! The playing is very impressive. The tone of the instrument and of the player is lovely. Here, I think, we are close to the ideal performance of this work. It always seems to turn out that the old, original instruments can eventually be mastered and, when they are, they are superior to modern instruments.
In this case, a lot more of the difference in sound is just modern preferences in mouthpiece design that favor a darker tone over a brighter one. Those preferences, also make the lower notes of the trumpet's register sound better, but at the expense of making the higher ones harder to play. Still, it's well worth understanding the instruments of the past, at the very least so we can make better choices when designing instruments for the future.
The most impressive thing to me is the excellent intonation that Würsch produces on this instrument. I am also impressed that he learned to finger the keyed trumpet. The tone shares some features of the natural trumpet, which is also a plus. My only complaint would be that too many notes are split or spattered. I know that it's hard to avoid, but it can be done.
Se suponía que éste instrumento era tan rudimentario que sonaba muy desafinado. Pues aquí se desmiente tal teoría con esta maravillosa interpretación por parte de Mr. Würsch con el magnífico y transparente acompañamiento de Mr. Solomon. Supposedly this instrument was so rudimentary that sounded much out of tune. That theory is now expunged by this marvelous performance on the part of Mr. Würsch supported by the fine accompaniment by Mr. Solomon.
Dibu sc - is just trolling with his rude & ridiculous comment... However, for those that know - this is a brilliant musical performance. Bravo gentlemen.
+Cap'n Johannes P. Ferguson, Plunderer o' the Seas Haydn's trumpeter "invented" (perhaps there were earlier less successful attempts) the keyed trumpet and Haydn wrote the concerto for him.
+Van Hollingsworth A trumpeter by the name of Anton Weidinger designed, built, and became very proficient at playing a new instrument called the keyed trumpet. He commissioned Haydn and later Hummel to write concertos for his new instrument.

Such a treat to hear this on the instrument it was composed for. Loved it!
I love that they smiled at each other at the end, both knowing they nailed this tune.
úžasní umelci... nádherná hudba a interpretácia...♥
Magnifique , and I noticed the excellent tone from the forte piano , never forget the héritage from this old musiciens
The fortepiano is exquisite sounding.

A secondary school in Dewsbury. West Yorkshire...
Beautiful - I have so many memories of this piece when Nathaniel was practicing for his performances when he was still a kid!
great piece. I'm sure Nathan enjoyed playing it as much as you enjoyed listening to him play it.

Magnifique! une délicieuse complicité entre ces deux musiciens d'exception.

Until this post, I'd never seen a "keyed trumpet" before let alone hearing one played. And this is magnificent. Thanks for posting!
After K-Drama Series: Squid Game, this music piece is never been the same again!
Beautiful performance, magnificently recorded!

El fortepiano suena demasiado bien
CON ESE INSTRUMENTO..LA VERDAD ES UN VIRTUOSO..
BELLE PERFORMENCE
Fantastic, we can have an idea how hard was to play trumpet... Bravo!!!
Hermoso
I came for the piano accompaniment but stayed for the trumpet solo.

Nice Job! Do you have video of the first movement too? :P
The first movement will come soon. A version of keyed trumpet and orchestra.
Thanks for watching.
magison88 Jetzt kann sich vorstellen wie die Ur-Version von Anton Weidlinger geklungen haben muss, fantastisch!
I have to audition with this song lord save me
If it's a song why isn't anyone singing???
@@bartwentink2189 song doesnt mean vocals
@@blackjack8324 Well, literally it does. If it doesn't, it's only because of the prevalence of people misusing the word "song" when they mean a piece.
I'm loving it! Is there a recording of the 1st movement anywhere?
Eingang 1:51
Were those lip drills at the end, at 3:47? Amazing!
how did you get the contraption so perfect for the 3rd movement do u mind sending me the note for a french horn...
can i get the sheet music
In comparison it's easy to play this with a piccolo I think ;D
che tromba è?
Is this the instrument Hayden composed for? Not a natural trumpet?

What is he playing
A Weidinger keyed trumpet, the instrument Haydn originally composed this for.
im a jazz player and strongly dislike classical, but this was very entertaining to me
Don't feed the trolls...
Why the hell is the piano somehow better than the soloist
The instrument in question is extraordinarily difficult to play. But the one for which this piece was originally composed.
Rubbish
squid game.
Yo vine por Squid Game Like si tu tambien
squid game :)
This trumpet looks a bit ugly😅
the trumpet is pretty but that man already very old, you should not play, and should rather wait for the cemetery.
Meh, I've seen older!
