Yeah Christopher Horan those graphics were breathtaking for a 16-bit game. Looks almost like an actual cartoon. I've been playing mostly NES since January, so that animation looks especially mouthwatering to me right now.
I was impressed. It makes me want to see it attempted again today - like a Tom and Jerry game done Cuphead style (though mimicking 40s/50s animation instead of 30s).
Don't worry Joe, you're shooting French soldiers from Napoleon's era in Atmosfear, not Americans. The map screen mentions Gevaudan Forest, so you must be in France :) Cheers for this episode, mon ami!
just wanna say a huuuuge thank you for the entertaining show, but also for the subtitles!! i'm hearing impaired the the automatic ones are terrible on most videos. so thank you for taking the time.
@@dunxy my favorites are when I'm watching people from the other side of the pond lol I watch a guy who plays Ark, and he said "it might not" but the auto subs put "eat my nuts." Its pretty fantastic haha
That Tom & Jerry game looks amazing. Tom & Jerry is what convinced me to ask my dad for a Master System over a Mega Drive in the early '90s. I was a special boy back then, that's for sure.
When I bought Legend of Galahad for the Mega Drive, it came with a small booklet containing adverts for other EA games which were supposed to be released in '92-'93 and Zombie High was one of them. The plot supposedly revolved around your classmates being zombified and "interactive intermission screens" were mentioned along with a claim that 7 different weapons would be available. The 2 screenshots depicted some sort of dog enemy and a giant blue zombie head which I've seen in footage that other people have uploaded.
"After completing NitroWrecks, I started working on the music for Sega 32X game Xmen. Xmen used v2 of our music engine, which allowed us to use 6 FM channels and 4 sample channels. " -Jesper Kyd's old site
Sega really stiffed the developer of that game, looks like they were trying to make an A grade game instead of rush job. They should have supported the 32x longer and delayed the Saturn.
I still notice that he has his name put off to the side and that he doesn't stay center of the camera. He obviously misses Dave, and so do I. Hope he does come back at some point.
Yeah, but Pinocchio was in '96 and the graphics weren't as impressive since we had gotten games such as Mickey Mania, Quackshot, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, the Magical Quest series, Aladdin, etc. It was a bit old hat by then.
If Oscars were given for sarcasm, Joe would get one every year! Keep up the fantastic sarc, err, commentary. I have the 32X and enjoyed some of the 16 or so games I have for it. But the best thing that can be said for it, is that it beats my Jag-be-uar. uh uhn, see what I did there. Yeah, I know, not Joe quality. But who is? Keep up the great work you all. It is appreciated. That Tom v. Jerry would have been awesome.
My wife still has the Atmosphere board game. She used to play it every year at Halloween with her younger sister as a family tradition. It had the board and a VHS tape for all the gatekeeper parts, so alas, theres no playing it now as no one has a VHS player. I showed her the footage on here and she was impressed!!!
Still the best show on TH-cam! Joe, u are the man for keeping this show going! Those transitions are sweet! Funny end clip too! Thanks for all the work I put into the Sack
14 year old me would have killed for that X-Men game. Looks like it had a ton of potential. I still can’t believe they never ported the arcade game to the consoles of that era.
Sega Lord X has several episodes where he shows off arcade games that could have and should have been on Saturn and its hard to understand why they are not.
Apparently Konami faced with their X-Men arcade game a similar problem they also had with The Simpsons Arcade Game. They couldn't get it released on home consoles because of other companies holding the required IP license. Funnily enough, both of them were released some years ago for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and then they vanished again.
A little fun fact nightmare also has a video board game version. And also I believe it's British thus why American soldiers are the enemy. Spoony did a vid on this. Black hole of board games FTW.
You know? I love when you cover classic games and older consoles, mainly because I was traped in the Sega vs Nintendo wars, so, I never saw other consoles, and now I'm rediscovering in awe (mainly through emulation) games that are so awsome that I never knew they existed (blessed be the Turbographx 16!!). Please, more classics of the Dreamcast era and before!! I need them!! The world needs it!!
Really sad to see you two split up. I understand the reasoning, still sucks as I am sure you both agree. Game Sack has became my "go-to" nightly relax phase after work. I hope you continue on and thank you very much for taking the time to share/create this content with us.
Joe, I just want you to know that every time I try to play Space Harrier in Yakuza or Judgment I get all fired up and say "I'm Joe Redifer I can do this!" and I get wrecked in the first level. Good lord I suck at Space Harrier. :D Love ya!
Clay fighter for the 32x - I had this prototype laying around for over a decade before I finally found someone who wanted to dump it. It let him keep the cart (more a PCB) for his efforts :) great to see it here!!
I'll never understand why Race Drivin' didn't get a SNES port utilizing the Super FX chip. Argonaut Software even ported it to the Game Boy, and that was a better port then both the Genesis and SNES ports. I'm sure they could have some something really nice with the FX co-processor.
I loved Hard Drivin' in the arcade, the graphics were amazing, and you sat down and felt like you were driving a real car. I was so excited when I went to the video store and they had it for the Genesis and rented it immediately.
Yeah, the arcade version was incredible for it's time. The smooth polygons and realistic steering wheel and gear shifter in a sit down cab, which according to our local arcade cost them $20,000. I also rented the Genesis version and was pretty letdown by the 4-6fps of game play. Somehow it's playable, but a polygon game running on Genesis hardware was clearly asking too much of it. I'd also love to have seen a 32X version of Hard Drivin'/Race Drivin'
Some other prominent game music scores Jesper Kyd was responsible for are: Assassin's Creed 1 and 2; half of Assassin's Creed Revelations as he did that in conjunction with composer Lorne Balfe; and Darksiders 2, which is one of my personal favorites for Kyd's use of Celtic-based themes and tones that are just fantastic!
From the way it looks, the Swamp Thing game was based off the short-lived animated series. The vampire looking dude is Anton Arcane, Swamp Thing's main villain.
What are some unreleased games you'd like to see covered?
Game Sack the overwhelming hell on the ps2 I wish that would get an official western release
Geist Force or Thrill Kill
And disaster:day of crisis
probably Time Trax (genesis ones since you have covered the SNES one) simply because of the soundtrack
@@Holeecrab I do believe I covered the Genesis one at one point.
That Tom vs Jerry prototype... That animation is REALLY impressive for that time.
It would have looked like an excellent game
Thats what i thought it looks almost like a saturn or ps1 game
Looks like Lester the unlikely
Yeah Christopher Horan those graphics were breathtaking for a 16-bit game. Looks almost like an actual cartoon. I've been playing mostly NES since January, so that animation looks especially mouthwatering to me right now.
impressive for the home tech, that time had better 2d animation than today 2019
This show is just so comfy. Please never stop making it.

Comfy is such a good word to use there. This show IS so comfy 😊
The animation and sprite size on Tom vs Jerry was amazing, it was not something I was expecting to see.
same here, that game would have been amazing

Tom v Jerry, a landmark Supreme Court decision.
It played out in Tom & Jerry Episode 137, "The Jurist's Prudence".
Thank you Gamesack for keeping me company all these years cheering me up!

Hey, nothing wrong with being a little cost conscious!
that montage of plugging in all the things to get the 32x running made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I have my Genesis/Sega CD/32x stack all setup and only needed 2 power strips to get it going!
I actually laughed at that so hard I cried a little. The very essence of the ill-fated 32x - so much investment for so little payoff.

Wow. The animation on that 1st Tom vs Jerry game is really good
Amazed at the scrolling smoothness on the X-Men 32x game. Incredible

The Tom and Jerry game is damn impressive for the snes. Wow. Im not a fan of the cartoon but that looks amazing!
Man, even without Dave, Game Sack is still great, very well done, in fact, the editing and special effects seem to just improve over time.
This and the “Left in the Arcades” are probably my favorite kinds of episodes. Too bad there is only so much you can cover in either one
Great episode
that Tom and Jerry game looks cool for a SNES game!
Most cancelled games are better then rise of the robots..
Really appreciate all the work you do, Joe. You're very talented.
