The funny thing about the japanese dub is that night city could be japanese speaking and it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to believe in the world of cyberpunk.
Unfortunately, the game company did not provide enough production costs. They underestimated the expertise and passion of the animation production company and did not want the number of productions to increase.
I've only ever watched this show in english...is it better in japanese though? Sounds fun but i always felt it wouldn't capture the essence of the game if not in english.
Maybe its because i watched edgerunners in japanese first, but id say i prefer the sub because the va really fits rebecca and is really damn expressive. But i guess you could say the exact same things about the dub too lol. Their both really good and its probably just preference
I think I like the Japanese dub overall but the English dub is great for the selection of actors in there. Also they got all of the video game characters to voice their respective roles again like Wakako and ADAM FUCKING SMASHER.
I listened to both at the same time and the dub is kinda the definitive version because they actually use slang from the universe like "choom", "nova", "gonk", etc. The subs kinda lack energy in certain parts, too but both the dub and sub did a great job
