After watching your review of the Pono ULN4-1 I bought one from you! Mine is the gloss finish and I absolutely love it. I haven’t stopped playing it since it arrived and have given strict instructions in the event of fire, grab this one first 😂
I do like the tone of the Acacia bodies.
What's the best Baritone to be tuned like an octave mandolin GDAE, with nylon strings? Thanks
Not my expertise. CGDA is great on a Baritone but no idea how you would make GDAE sing.

So glad I found this channel! I’ve been looking for a more substantial “songwriting” instrument and I only know how to play uke.

Yes, as far as I know. Some Ashbury Tenor guitars can be modified but Pono are definitely ahead of the curve right now.

LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!! I'd really like to see a video comparing a few Ukuleles with radiused fretboards! I have a Soprano, a concert and tenor and am now searching for a good baritone. I've heard that the Ponos have a radiused Fretboard but you didn't mention anything about that here. THANKS!!!
The Cedar top models often have a very slight radius fingerboard. Sadly you won't see enough in one place for me to make a video about that particular subject but I'm delighted you like the channel.

At this point, why wouldn’t the player just turn to a classical guitar? Just sayin’ ... these are almost as large as a 3/4 size classical.

because as a guitar veteran player of 33 years, who also plays a uke, I can tell you first hand that a 6 string instrument is much harder to learn and play than a 4 stringer. Also, there is a unique difference in sound you get from a guitar and a Uke. Plus, as a musician can you ever have too many instruments in your collection? I think not, LOL

I don't think you can. If you did find strings light enough it would feel very uncomfortable to play

What has caused the recent uke interest over the past decade?
Eastern Cowboy In the U.K. - I think it’s a combination of things.
Initially, 5-10 years ago we were selling lots to schools to replace the recorder as the instrument they teach in primary school. Then there were waves of parents joining in with the kids.
I would also attribute the UOOGB becoming more of a mainstream touring act as bringing quite a few new faces to the instrument around the same time.
The audience for high end Ukuleles here in the U.K. definitely started with players visiting Ukulele groups. As soon as the old negative perception that the Ukulele was a toy changed and 30-40 adults in a room were comparing the sounds of different instruments over a pint then people started pro-actively searching for more serious instruments.
Another large fragment of our audience that really grew interest in the Uke seemed to find the Ukulele on TH-cam - James Hill, Jake In Central Park and it just opened their eyes to what could be done with 4 strings.
That’s just my take on it... talking to customers and friends across Europe a lot of the same things were happening in Belgium, Germany etc at the same time.
These have picked up interest in the old time music groups. Lots of high G sent ups backing the fiddle in the North Carolina / Virginia circles.
