    Out of interest, although the Baton Rouge is the least expensive in the line-up, we were pleased to hear, and see, that George Hinchliffe (UOGB) bought a V2B earlier his year and was amazed it was only £99! - a few months later I saw him playing it live :-)

    Yep, that's what I would like to have, a Barry White Ukulele! I rather like the Kala KA-MBG and KA-SA-B, they both have a pretty face and a pretty sound. I do like pretty, but the simplicity of the Pono are like the rest of my life. I like the smaller neck. The MGBD would be my choice of the Pono models you showed. Love the deep tones of the MGBD too. Nice! O, my, the Kanile’a SUS-B is beautiful all the way around. Love it! Well, golly, I pretty much love them all! You make this really hard! How many do you guys own of all the ones you have in store? I could not work in an ukulele store.

    Wow! Thank you so much!!!!! I like the sound of the last one best. Would have liked the prices also. I write ole lady comedy songs because l am an ole lady. I find that l want a softer sounding Uke to match my more melodious voice and the cheap starter l have is too tinny sounding now. l have written a great song about how nice it would have been if baritone Uke had a nice dip in the back for women. We would now have lots of great music that we've always lacked! Any suggestions? :) Great video! Wish yo'all were nearer.

    I play a Kala KA-ABP-CTG (if I'm reading the faded label correctly). A baritone with a solid cedar top and internal pickup. This thing just sings with that top, so warm, so much like a cedar top guitar. Then plug it in (reduce amp gain for feedback with this kind of pickup) and fill your home with music. I couldn't recommend this uke enough. And please DON'T store it in a case, hang it right behind where you dwell, like your desk, so you play it all the time.

      I think you're talking about the pineapple Pono. It's worth looking through the channel as there are over 200 comparison videos in circulation now.
      The ukes in the background are Concerts so not nearly as rich as a Baritone I'm afraid. Very much apples and oranges there.

    Hey brotha I'm coming from the guitar world and I was just wondering how you go about changing strings on a pin bridge without ball end strings. I know how to tie classical and ukulele strings on a traditional bridge but no idea what to do with a pin bridge.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can approach it two ways - with a bead on the string and a little knot or with a big fat ugly double knot in the end of the string 😄

    • @jimsatola4971
      @jimsatola4971 ปีที่แล้ว

      A “sailor knot” (kind of a figure-8 shape) makes for more of a long-symmetrical, and more “graceful looking” knot, which I think works better than a “regular” O-shape knot.

  • @jimsatola4971
    @jimsatola4971 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the koa Kanile’a (K1-B, . . . “E”), why do you call it a K1-BE? (As a side note, I play a 2019 K1-B, so, essentially the exact same instrument). It is not electric (which sometimes gets an “E” designation). And the label itself (visible in the video) says K1-B. Was there a time that “E” was added to designate ebony saddle and fretboard?

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya,
      Starting with CITES changes in 2017 and until 2020 we did still call them K-1BE's because it was the export model. The model itself switched to Ebony on domestic models the year before but it took a bit of time for the codes to line up. There was a few years where Kanile'a made international models with Ebony and continued using rosewood for US orders.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore

      No, sorry... I literally can't think of anything more frustrating than trying to tune several 8 strings up on the same day.
      In all seriousness, we have featured most of the 8 strings we stock at various times. Its worth going back through our listings where the links would be embeded to the sound sample. I don't have plans to make any more 6 or 8 string specific videos as I rarely have a selection in stock.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have discussed this subject at length with the folks at Kanile'a, Kamaka and KoAloha over the past 15 years. It has been called a 'Yookoolaylee' in the UK and beyond for about a hundred years, way beyond the invention of the internet or even TV and radio.
      Whilst I am truly sorry you feel that I am damaging your native language, I can't help but feel inauthentic if I force myself to sound out my vowels in line with the native dialect with which the word Ukulele originated. If I were to pronounce Paris as 'Paree' to a Frenchman or call Germany 'Deutschland' in the natural flow of a sentence with my own regional dialog, pronounciations and sensibilities they might think I was a being sarcastic.
      I am doing as much as I can to keep Ukulele/Yookoolaylee culture alive. Please don't take the pronounciation of a word as a slant against a language or culture when in truth our joint love of the Ukulele around the world only enriches and enhances the legacys of some fantastic companies like Kamaka, KoAloha, Ana'Ole and Kanile'a... All of which are words/brands I do prounounce to the best of my ability with your regional tongue and vowel inflections.

      It's really irrelevant what tshirt I wear but if you must know I wear it because I studied graphic design and it's one of my favourite logos. I was born in 87 and that specific Pepsi logo was introduced around 90-91. I grew up around it and I find it nostalgic and familiar. It's not my favourite Pepsi logo though, that would be the 1940s logo which is rounder and more closely resembles the coca-cola logo. I also used to build project guitars and amplifiers and used this pepsi logo as the inspiration for album artwork a few years back.
      I haven't worn that tshirt in a while. I will think of you when I find it though 👍
