Sis has a good demeanor with Ed. She talks close to him, looks at him, speaks slowly and clearly - in short sentences and she's sweet in her tone. You can see she taught for years.
Cookies are there to eat. Why does it make him a gentleman for not taking one? Pretty sure they wouldn't be sitting out like that if they. Weren't for eating
@@donnywenner4998seriously?? He is showing what it is like living and caring for a person with alzheimer. Dan attends seminars, what do you do to help or care for a loved one????
Dad did good. He went around and talked to everybody and he walks and he talks. That’s still the best part. It’s when they stop all that so I’m glad dad was having a good day.
Well, Mom did a great job! Ed was with another woman. Danielle's Mom! Left Joann with five young kids for a younger woman & didn't see his five kids much at all! But God bless Dan & Danielle for taking care of him!
As far as your dad not having a great day is subjective. To us, especially to the ones who lives or lived with loved ones with dementia or who sees his interactions, sees this as a good day. He didn’t go off to his bedroom or wanting to leave the area with people. Our dad would isolate himself either in his bedroom or in the garage (we’d go out with him). He was highly agitated, would punch or hit mostly things but also us. All I can say is to all of the dementia family caretakers, cherish the good times. Even when you have to answer the same questions repeatedly! Love them for who they are to you and who they were before dementia. Tell them you love them because before you know it, they’ll be gone. Then you’ll wish for just one more minute to see them again. Ok, I’m done…as I’m crying.
Even through all of Grandpa's dementia, I can see the love he has for his children. There's one thing dementia can't steal from Grandpa and that's the deep love he has for his children ❤️❤️ I love you grandpa 🥰
It's all good Dan! Grandpa is healthy, grandma is healthy, Sis and Mark are healthy, Grandpa is happy to see Sis and both Sis and Mark are so patience with grandpa! And most importantly, grandpa can eat cookies! Wishes you and your family happy and good health!
I think it's so much better that he is engaging than just muted in a corner somewhere. Even if having to repeat yourself over and over could seem stressful it's much better than him being totally scared of everybody
Yes I don't get why he thought Ed was struggling. Unless he just didn't realize he didn't show that part of the video. Looks like he was enjoying himself and looking forward to that cookie 🍪🍪🍪 mmm!!
Looks like Dad is enjoying himself, with his family. I especially love the father daughter inter action, I'm a only girl with three brothers so I totally know the specialness of the bond between a father and daughter So beautiful! Blessings to all of you!
Your father really cares about people. I loved watching him question Sis about her life. With his hands behind his back, sorta leaning in. He was a good doctor.
4:20 Yes, I can see what Dr Ed might've been like when a patient would come into his office with a medical issue and he would likely have been very attentive and understanding. Not like doctors of today who keep you waiting on them and then rush when they examine you.
Dan, despite dementia, Grandpa Ed is doing an amazing job with the family gathering. That is one of the most difficult scenarios for dementia patients!! So proud of him!! ❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yes. I agree. It is obvious he has a hard time hearing. So when there is conversations around him, it's even more difficult to hear what people are saying. So inspite of this, he really stayed engaged in his conversations.
Wow Dan, I hope you and your brothers and sisters thank God every day for giving your parents such long lives and that they can still be a part of your daily lives. Sure, maybe dad is not 100% all there anymore but at least he is still around which is way more than what many others can say who have no father or mother anymore. In my case I thank God I have my mom relatively healthy at 81 years old and my dad is still around somewhere in Southern California as well whereas many of my high school friends have already lost both of their parents. Those of us that are in our 50's and 60's and still have mom and dad around are few of the lucky ones and should thank God everyday for blessing them with long lives.
What a beautiful family. They say "The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree." Your good people with an amazing matriarch. Dan please tell your sister I love her outfit. Love the color.

I like the question that Mark posed to Dad, referencing if he would like to choose another family other than the one he has, and Dad so candidly answered no, not at all!
