Yes . Capoeira originates from the African slaves of the Portuguese in what is known now as brasil. They disguise the fighting style as a dance as to not alert the slave masters that the were actually training to rebel. Capoeira in its real practical application is dangerous enough to kill a person with the winding of the kicks and momentum the are coming

I've seen a good amount of guys bring the capoeira heart and soul into a few cage or kickboxing matches and all I gotta say is good vibes the way how they just dance around a person wheeew 💪💛🔥 chyeeeeah maaahn 💯🔥
When a capoeira dances around a person for "mandinga" or "deceptive" purposes--instead of doing the basic swing or "ginga"--this is known as a "pererincao".

As far my knowledge goes, this sport was meant as some sort of fighting training, kept as a secret, to learn to fight free from slavery.
Hidden as dance moves, so the guardians wouldnt realize it would be a real martial arts training

This will not work in a real fight
Any form of martial arts can be effective in a fight, if the techniques are executed properly.
For example:
When someone draws their hand back to throw a punch, throw a Teisho-Uchi(Palm Heel Strike) to the chin, then a Shuto Uchi (Knife Hand Strike) to the brachial plexus, Oi Tzuki(Front Hand Punch) to the pelvic girdle, Empi Uchi (Elbow Strike) to the temple, then finish off with a Fumikomi Geri (Stomp Kick) to the back of the knee.
This is an advanced Karate combination known as "Five Swords", and it is highly effective when executed properly.
I suggest you do more research.
The dance is only for performance. Capoeira moves are deadly!
