John 5 is a very underrated guitarist, with a lot of theatrics and stage presence as well. Plus, he just seems like a genuinely good guy. Love that he is a Telecaster fanatic like me also!

He’s playing a tele with very articulate pickups- and actually not that much fuzz/distortion/ reverb. Really nothing to hide behind/very unforgiving for guitar players. That is to say-he is indeed that good.

He gets out of control on the stage and in the studio, but apart from that he behaves as a gentle. He retweets everything talking about him as a response.
im gonna put J5 above them. rather than rely on pedals he comes up with different ways to strum, bend etc to get his sound. pretty basic setup and also very diversified in the music he plays
Ray Gallant Randy and EVH didn’t rely on effects to play they innovated with them as an added texture. That’s overstated a lot and I love John 5, I opened for him last night it was awesome

The very finest guitarist alive today, bar none. Obviously Rory Gallagher will remain the best natural guitarist of all time but John 5 is only half a fret away.

Richard Pearsosn, my guess is it's John's salute to Gene Simmon's vomiting blood when he performed God of Thunder. The blood is really messy and well drool isn't quite as bad yet I agree with you it IS disconcerting to say the least. Personally I think the makeup is enough gimmick all he needs what with the gargantuan talent J5 possesses. However that's my opinion and obviously not J5's. *shrugs*
