    I’m literally so amazed by how you learned the language so quick and then the way you pronounce them is just so perfect. As a Moldovan I am really honored that there’re still people who are interested in this country and get joy from living in there😍❤️❤️

    Thank you so much for making this video. I am the son of a Romanian immigrant, and I recently accepted my invitation to serve as a TEFL in Moldova. Your host village looks just like my grandparents! I am so excited to embark on this experience, and I'm trying to soak up as much of the culture and life as I can before I go :)

    I'm literally in awe at how obvious and fast your language evolution is! even small things very particular to the moldovan dialect like saying "ṣi" instead of "ce".
    you did great and I'm happy you managed to have a good time here ♡

      Andrea René Abroad Thanks for the kind words! The second year has definitely been a completely different ballgame, but equally exciting nonetheless. I’ve got 99 days left as of today!

    Scott, I thought your reaction to winter was hilarious. Actually, last winter in Moldova was mild (I live in Bulboaca, Anenii Noi district), but then I remembered that you're from California. I'm from Michigan, so I'm used to it. Dress warmly, have some nice boots and gloves, enjoy the sound of crunching snow when you walk over it. Thanks for coming to Moldova!

    Congrats on making it through your first year! I laughed a bit at your complaining about the snow. I'm in the mountains of Western Maryland and my university's "Spring Break" (March) was right in time for a blizzard haha. Luckily a few of my Chinese friends stayed around to hang out that week instead of traveling the states.
    Good luck on your next year of service!

      I'm applying for the Health Educator position! Just spoke with a recruiter today and have been working on my essay section. I got a lot of really good information on the application process/interview from her if you would like me to email it to you.

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicholas Padilla Thanks for reaching out, Nick! The application process is really simple, I would just make sure to list and highlight any experience you may have that’s related to the program that you are applying into, as well as any work you may have had with youth. We work a lot with younger people in country and in my opinion it would make your resume even more appealing if you have had experience working with a younger age group. Good luck with the application process!

    This is an awesome video! I would really like some information on how you prepared! I am 17 currently and I would like some tips on what I could do until I apply for a Moldova spot. Whether it be learning a language or things I could volunteer for etc. Thank you so much!

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jessika Mashburn Hey there! My biggest suggestion would be to get experience in the program that you are looking to apply into. I know with Peace Corps Moldova there are a few different programs: English Education, Health Education and Organizational Development Facilitator, so I would suggest to definitely gain some experience working in those fields before applying. Bachelor degrees are required for the English programs, but for the Health Education and the Organizational Development Facilitator Programs, you are required to have at least 5 years of professional experience in the field if you do not have a Bachelor’s Degree. And as for the language, you don’t worry about it beforehand because you will go through extensive in-country language training once you arrive. Best of luck!

    I just scheduled my interview for a position in Moldova. Was it difficult for you to learn Romanian? What are your living arrangements like after PST?

    • @scottondamove
      @scottondamove  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kelsey Harris If you’ve studied a Romance language before (Spanish/Italian/French/Portuguese), Romanian may be a little easier to learn since there are a lot of similarities. But even for complete beginners, I’d say Romanian is still fairly easy to learn. My permanent living arrangements are a bit different than my PST arrangements. I live in a bigger house in a bigger town so it has its perks. But you end up missing the small village life too every now and then. Good luck with the interview if you haven’t had it already!
