Very helpful video. Which stabilizer would I need on baby onesies and child shirts. Both stretchy. I am only applying an appliqué with a sticky back for iron on.
Great tutorial. Thank you. I was hoping you mention if a basting spray is a use for each stabilizer. Since I watch many use it during a project. Is it always necessary to use a basting spray?
FlyingMonkies is right. Basting spray is most useful for when you have something that needs to stay exactly where you put it, such as in pre-cut applique, or when you've got something that isn't likely to stay put, like a silkier fabric.
Very informative and everything a total beginner needed to know, thanks. I'm assuming that trying to machine embroider a thin t-shirt is missing the bobbin most of the time because I'm not using a backing?
What is light tear away used for? I’m totally new to embroidery I bought a roll of light stabilizer. I want to use it on cloth and caps. Which stabilizer should I use?

for a onesie, use a no-show mesh, and can add a product such as Fuse-so-Soft to the back after embroidery to cover the stitches, if you wish.

I notice there is a thick and thin topper. Topper seem to make embroidery hard on baby bid. (terry cloth) I hope it get softer.
The wash away toppers do get softer the more they are washed.

You could use it on a sheer opaque fabric with a light stitchload design.
What stabilizer should I use for 100% cotton used for heat packs
medium firm tearaway. You could also use a woven cutaway for more durability, if the packs are going to be getting a lot of use.
which backing do you recommend for a satin quilted cushion
I would use a poly mesh for that, to preserve the feel and drape of the fabric.
What do you use for woven fabrics ?
For a woven fabric such as broadcloth or quilting cotton, use a medium firm tearaway.
Would you use tear away when doing hand embroidery work on denim? What is the best way to finish the inside of hand embroidery? Thank you!

Which kind of stabilizer do you use for a polyester polo shirt
I'd suggest a poly mesh cutaway for that.
Just What I wanted!!
