I feel sad for Charles, imagine you need to put on a smile to greet everyone when you had just lost your beloved mother. My prayers for the Queen and for the new King.

Right after his mother's death he knew his people needed him to be strong. He stopped deliberately to give people the strength his mother would have given at that time.

When I think of Elizabeth II I'm left thinking of a quote by Elizabeth I. 'Though you may have many mightier and wiser princes sitting in this seat, yet you never had nor shall have any that will love you better.' I'm certain Elizabeth II herself fits these words perfectly.
He made a perfect speech. He also reassured the British public that his youngest son will not be part of the inner circle by mentioning he wished them luck in their lives abroad.

There is something so regal and in-control about British people…No hysteria, no existential anger, disruptions to the transfer - just a dignified country showing solidarity with their new king.

People need to remember that Charles isn’t just a king…he is also a son who has just lost his mother and is grieving. Yes, he’s royalty, yes, he’s a public figure, and yes, the queen lived a long and full life…but losing a parent is still rough, no matter who you are, regardless of the circumstances.

Therefore, good hand hygiene should be practiced. It has nothing to do with status or him being better than anyone, but rather reducing and preventing the spread of viruses and bacteria. If it were you in the King's place out there I might advise you to do the same. Is there something wrong with wishing good health upon a person?

I’m not British but I can admit I cried when I heard the news of the Queen passing
I cried too, although I'm too not British - I'm from Poland. Queen Elizabeth II was from my perspective always the Queen - she ascended the throne many, many years before i was even born (I'm only 39) and it seemed to me unimaginable that someone else would be the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. May our good Lord accept her in His heavenly Kingdom. Long live King Charles!

IT's lovely and heartwarming to see, that so many people cared and came to offer their condolences to the new monarch. I wish some people there would also show decency and NOT had to film that they are actually shaking hands with the new King. For God sake, he lost bis mother. You can offer your condolences without beeing in his face with your cellphones.
But what if His Majesty thought it was sweet that they were either so excited or proud to take that video/photo of them shaking his hand? It might have made him feel better. Many truly were doing this out of love for him, whether they were his subjects or not.

Why, I'm I sad, on the verge of tearing up, I'm an Amerikan, but still this scene seems to be affecting me.
It is the end of an era. In the history books we will remember this year for her death, the war in Ukraine, Trump's documents and environmental consequences. We can feel the world shifting into a new phase. A lot of countries will now start leaving the commonwealth.

It was probably weird first saying Queen Elizabeth back in 1952 when her father George VI died, but people quickly got used to it. There are still some careless or ignorant reporters calling him Prince.
King Charles III was the people's King the way he shakes the hands and greeted the people maybe most of them were commoners or ordinary citizens of UK! It was for the first time in the history of Great Britain's Kings.
