I'm a bit confused. The foam and weights are done to have them ready for resale, right? At home when I trim I would just plant the cutting in my substrate? Or should I "float it" until it starts producing roots?
@@redarmysoja you could plant then right into the substrate. We use the foam and weight for resale but also to be able to move them around easily to ensure they get proper light. Floating them works for too as they will shoot off a ton of stems when left at the top of the water.
Really excited to start growing. I've been playing with out of water plants like pothos but been wanting to get into under water. Will horticulture lights work. I have Mars hydro ts 1000 and a 600
I was wondering for how long of a time period you could keep them wrapped up and weighted like you showed in this video. For situations like mine, in which I have several tanks that I want set up and plant but since I have limited funds, I will be doing it slowly and over time ... so I was thinking about maybe purchasing smaller quantities of and different varieties of plants once every 2 or 3 weeks over the course of the next 3 to 4 months until I have enough gathered up to do a larger planted tank (stems, rooted, and epiphytes). Then give it enough time to become established before adding fish to those aquariums ... since I know it will take a while for the roots to develop enough to stay in the substrate. I now have issues with snails constantly "up rooting" my newly planted plants in my current tank. I have watched them do it on many occasions, it is very frustrating.
I always take the foam and weight off immediately and put them in my substrate. Don’t move them at all for a months so they can complete any melting and adapt to your substrate and water. Hopefully your substrate is one inch dirt with at least 2 inches of sand on top for best results

Aquarium plants are a HUGE waste of money.. They just melt away…
