- I just love wandering around unknown places and disovering local life and hidden gems. Today I take you on another episode of "Lost with Serg". After running a quick errand, we go on one of the canal taxi boats to the very last stop. Bang Kapi is an area of Bangkok I have never been to before, so this is a perfect place to go and explore. To me, seeing local culture, how people live day to day, is so much more interesting than going to a fancy mall or a Michelin starred restaurant. There's something magical about getting lost that always makes me happy. I had such a fun day walking around this area today.

I love when you wander around and we get a view of the neighborhood. Take care and be careful out there!
@@jeezermd3817 One of my favorite activites!
เิดินทางปลอดภัยครับ"
Ah, back to my beloved Lost with Serg episode again. I really like the vibe of serene neighborhood with a mix of some little adventures there. I was told that Muslims in Bangkok are the descent of Indonesians ~1.5 centuries ago who were invited to settle in Bangkok by King Rama V when he was traveling to Java. Those kids are so friendly and adorable.
Yeah I’m not sure about the Muslims. They are everywhere and are very nice people.
I went to that Amway place once a few years back and bought a lot of their product. Very pricey.
And I really like this clip. It's not pointless at all. The kids, the cats, the dogs, the cow, the fishermen, the motorbikes, the canals, these make your clips different and stand out from many others. It's all about local peoples' lives or living in places unexplored by youtubers.
Oh, and I appreciate your kind donation to the temple. That's a good deed. You made merit right there.
So happy to know you like this content. It’s some of my fave videos to maken
I used to enjoy walking in unfamiliar places/areas like you do, but I had to stop after being attacked by stray (Soi) dogs and getting seriously injured. I think that even in Bkk, especially in unfamiliar allyways and low-income neighborhoods, people there often keep their dogs without collars, and their (pet) dogs would immediately came out of their owners houses as soon as they saw you and attacked you as well before barking at you…so Pls, pls always be careful....I recommend you to wearing long pants for the reason I mentioned above...
I completely understand what you’re saying about the dogs. I am very careful. However, I know they can still attack.
In my experience that is extremely rare, though of course it does happen. (For anyone who may not know, never run away from a dog barking at you or showing signs of aggression.)
Never go beta to alpha animals. A very calm shh shh almost always works. Betas scream and shout alphas dominate through control of their voice and body language. A Thai runner up above Chiang mai near a dog fighting village taught me that a few years ago.
@@benh8610not extremely rare at all, extremely common
@@encycooper Well, let's be specific about it: It's certainly rare enough in Thailand that I don't hesitate walking in unknown neighborhoods late at night. It's common enough that if I saw a dog that really didn't look friendly, I might turn around and go a different way.
Those canal boat drivers are really skilled 👍👍👍
Can't believe these neighbourhood is so laid back....in Bangkok...city.
Yah it’s so chill. There are more like this.
The canal boat ride look pretty awesome, I never thought about using them to bypass the traffic. Such a great idea! I order two dishes together just the same way and then one of the portions of rice. Too funny, I thought I was the only one.
Ha ha. Small minds think alike. Lol
LOL@@LifewithSerg
Hello Serg, the name of this temple is "Wat Sri Boon Lueng."
Yes, I just mispronounced it. Thanks.
This video is good to see the 'other side' of Bangkok along the canals. The homes are original and people here live a simple lifestyle.
Yes this so what I really enjoy. Next month will bring an epic adventure!
2:14 Thu Oct 26th, 2023 Good Morning Serg From Gilbert Arizona USA. Hello Serg it looks like you're going on another adventure. The restaurant you're at has some amazing food choices. Your choices from the menu looked amazingly delicious. Getting lost is sometimes the best way to find those little hole in the wall places. I really enjoyed your video today. Getting lost is sometimes the best part of the adventure. The things that you come across are really cool. You still have so much to see. Looking forward to your next adventure video. Healthy Blessings and stay safe in the heat. 11:09
Oh yes, getting Lost is always fun. Next month I will be off on a 3 week adventure.
Hi Serg. From today Oct 26th until 29th. There's a "Bangkok EV Expo" and "Thailand Mobile Expo" both events are held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Asok. Just thought you might be interested in EV cars, bikes and mobile phone & gadgets. Take care, cheers. 😊👍👍
I thought they just had this event like two months ago. I know because I registered for it but I never made it that day.
14:47 They also have a gym. It's called every day life.
I really enjoy walking through the local neighborhoods in Thailand. There are some special experiences to be had there.
Those are some of my MOST memorable experiences!
This place is in the countryside of Bangkok. I've been living here for more than 30 years since I was born. There is so much developing in the area now, compared to the back days. It is like a real original Thai neighborhood.
That’s really interesting
Thats quite the walk there serg, hot and humid too. Have a cool drink and dont forget to put on some sunblock.
I completely forgot to put on sunblock that day! It was a very bad decision. Thank you so much for the donation at your support!
It's a simple video but I watched it to the end. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
The restaurant you ate at is my brother's mother's restaurant. And a black cat that my girlfriend and I are going to adopt. It's really such a coincidence🤣🤣🙏🙏
What a small world!
Very cool video. I love seeing the "backroads" of Bangkok. Keep up the good work.
So happy to know that. These are my favorite types of videos to make.
Nice to meet you Surge!! Glad you could add me in your video and chat for a bit.
Thank you so much for bringing that stuff all the way from the US. I really appreciate it. Hope to run into you again. Have a great time on your vacation.
I said this before but all the wires are astounding to me!
Yes, but after 3-4 months you totally forget they are there.
I just arrived 1 week ago for the first time in Bangkok in Asok area and I love you always put all the map links in the description. Very easy to find the spots. For now I have been a lot at EmQuartier and also Terminal 21 with the christmas tree. I wondered about the tree as european from Vienna, as we celebrate early but not this early. I will check out your other videos, as I love your calm style. Do you know any expats meetings here, as I could not find a lot on meetup and these seem to be more language meetings, rather then exchange experiences.
I’ve looked on Meetup before, and you’re right. Most of them are language exchange groups. I’m not aware of any formal meet ups. Just groups of expert friends that meet on a regular basis.
Hey Serg, if you really want to explore the outskirts (or centre) of BKK by bicycle, you should check out the bicycle tours offered by Co van Kessel Bangkok tours. Great experience!
Thanks flor the tip.
Great vlog Serg it’s so good to find a area that is still off the grid as so to speak in BKK . People enjoying life . Kids playing no phones to be seen. It so good that we can go to areas and be safe everyone is so relaxed. Ahh the cats and the lil grey one made my morning . The local small shops I always use . I get me supply of sprite at one near me and the lady is so nice . Have a great weekend Serg
I absolutely love these areas so much. Next month will bring an adventure that should be filled with places like this.
Love the enthusiasm Serg..Hope you are enjoying yourself.
Absolutely loving it!
It's Baang Ka Pih (as in Mini). thanks for the tour, Serg.
Thanks for the info!
Quite the recurring theme, you being lost hahaha. Always entertaining to watch your video's. Keep it up! Makes me remember this one time when I walked from the Royal Palace to Siam because it didn't seem "that far" on my map. How wrong was I, and got a bit lost of course. On the other side I discovered parts of BKK that no tourist would ever go or see, so in the end it was quite interesting. And yes, eventually I arrived at Siam just using a free and lowly detailed tourist map and the main landmarks on it as waypoints.
That sounds like an interesting adventure!
Nice video. Wondering if you have a video about parks in bkk on your channel by any chance
Not a video about parks, but I do feature parks in my videos.
Hi 👋 Serg . I really like your videos and content 👍thumbs up from Denmark
Glad you like them!
I had lunch at the Ruam Sab market last year. I had the best Pad Krapao from a vendor down the back.
It’s a great place.
Nice video Serg! You are definitely more adventurous than me wandering off the beaten path like that 😀 That mosque looked humongous!
This is probably my favorite thing to do, is just to go and find places like this, and wander around. Yah the mosque was really cool.
It’s garlic and pepper chicken over rice. It’s one of Thai people go-to dish.
Ahhhh. Honestly, I didn’t taste garlic or pepper, it just really tasted like ketchup! 555.
Thank you for shearing another part of Thailand. I have no stomach for adventure there. 😅
I think you would definitely enjoy it
Great video mate love the exploring ones like this you do. Dee uaed to do amway many years ago too 😂
Ahh yes good ole Amway. I learned a lot.
Another good Video Serg, 👍 Spag says Hi.
Oh nice. Tell him I said hello back!
3:42 Thu Oct 27th, 2023. Hey Serge Good Morning from Gilbert Arizona USA. This something I forgot to add in my in previous post. In watching your videos I've noticed that you have really put your heart and soul into your videos. Additionally, it seems like you've lost a lot of weight. Well Healthy Blessings
10:26
Thanks! I’ve actually lost about 10lbs in last few months. Got lazy lately, haven’t been to the gym in a few weeks.
It's so interesting, it's true in Isan too that when you are in town, people will notice you. But when get off the beaten bath....at all... you get to know what it feels to be an astronaut revealing yourself to people of another world for the first time.
Yes I love that feeling
Hi Serge, I stopped taking Tums when I have heartburn. They are loaded with sugar, even the ones that are sugar-free. I now mix a tea spoon of baking soda to a glass of water (8 oz.) and have a few sips. Works like magic & the rest can be kept in the fridge for future usage.
I don’t get heartburn. They work well for upset stomach.
Now I get the sales feel of your videos, you Amway guy you LOL Thanks for the pin on that market, will check it out next month when back in Bangkok
Lmao. Join my cult. NOW! lol.
Love ur content bro. You are a nice person
I appreciate that!
I LOVE these types of videos...looks like your looking a little thinner...I'm planning on returning late march, will have to ask if you need Tums or something else, if not...no problem...stay healthy, More subscribers. Love it...Matt from scottsdale
Hey Matt! I lost a little bit of weight and then I just kind of covered for a bit. But I’m starting to watch what I eat a lot more.
Because life is about the journey.
I agree 1000%
My Thai nickname is "Tuhm" and when I went to school in Mineapolis-St. Paul, my friends called me TUMS but I didn't get the humor until my roommate brought a bottle of TUMS. haha
That’s funny!
The temple's name is read " Wat-see-boon-rueng" and the district is called(read) Bang ka pee(short pronunciation)
Ahh. Thanks!
I thought the name was " Wat-the holy mackerel-how i like - this channel - keep up the good work "
n Thailand, shrimp paste goes by the name kapi (or gkapi). It's a purple-brown condiment made by mixing krill (tiny shrimp-like crustaceans) with salt and leaving them to ferment. The resulting mixture is then dried and ground into a dense and sticky paste that's the consistency of almond butter or coarse pâté.Mar 8, 2565 BE
Bang Kapi is by no means out of the way in Bangkok. The Mall BangKapi is teeming with foreigners and my condo is just around the corner. One of the busiest and noisiest Junctions in Bangkok is the Happy Land junction just outside The mall. By the way Soi Ladprao is the road that links Central Lad Prao all the way to the Mall Bang kapi.
I understand it’s not out of the way, but majority of tourists, and foreigners in general, will not go to the area that I went to.
Yes seen a few Xmas 🎄 trees already too. And I love getting on BTS or a bus 🚌 & then walking 🚶♀️ about 😊
The best ways to explore.
@@LifewithSerg it’s enjoyable yes. I sometimes just get on a bus 🚌 no plan where and then see where I end up 👍
Thumbs up 👍 Serg
Many thanks
Appreciate the google maps links👍🏾. very helpful

Ha ha ha it’s coming
I can’t wait to have Khun Serg knocking on my door selling me make ups ! Which n what suit my skin tone ❤😂 BTW how can one eat 2 plates at once and being so trim & slim ???
I didn’t eat 75% of the rice. And I’m far from slim and trim! 555
Serg, try ENO since you can't find Tums. I use it all the time growing up in Malaysia. Different active ingredients but work as well or better! So there's no public bus system there? I can see the convenience of boats! The sign says "Bridge is damaged, replacement in progress". I'm good at Thai courtesy of Google Translate. You simply press the camera icon from the app, aim at the text and Viola! 😂. Is it still rainy season there? I'll be visiting family in Malaysia in 5 weeks time. Flying from Dallas through Japan and Singapore before crossing the bridge to Malaysia. Let's see how good the AA Business class seat is compared to JAL. Cheers!
There are definitely buses and skytrain’s here. The sky trains are amazing. But once in a while, I just like to use the canal taxis. And yes, I am well aware of how to use Google translate, I just don’t bother to translate every single thing that I see. I flown both United, American Airlines, and JAL business. I like the seats on United and American, but the JAL service cannot be matched.
Great !
Thanks.
When you do the selfie shots, what camera and stick do you use?
Everything is filled with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’m just using a Manfredo mini tripod when I record everything. If you scroll down onto the description of the video, you will see links to all the items I use, so you can see what they look like.
I too am a wanderer when in strange lands. Particularly enjoyed it in Borneo, always on the lookout for nasty critters though.
Oh yah. Gotta keep an eye out!
I think, you eated "Kai Pad Nam-pik-pao"(ไก่ผัดน้ำพริกเผา)chickens with Thai chili paste and onion, and dish one..Pad Ka Pao that well know of Thai food/ Big meal 2dishs😄
OK that could’ve been it. It was the number one, and number two on the menu. I didn’t eat 75% of the rice, so it wasn’t that much.
@@LifewithSerg "Kai Pad Nam-pik-pao",and "Kai Pad pik hwan"(sweet chili) will not spicy such as Pad Ka-pao
Still great contents as always you're an inspiration, I'm still afraid of going solo outside Thailand my home country to the place where the native does not speak English and especially go loss in very local like what you did here.
Japan and Korea are already easy mode for Thai traveler because a ton of us visit them but there so many other places that won't speak English and I want to enjoy my solo travelling there like visit huge nature related area in China.
Start out with a small trip to an area you’re not familiar with. You just have to get out of your comfort zone and go explore. I’m sure once you do it, you will really enjoy it.
thank for advise :D @@LifewithSerg
tums appear to be all over lazada? now if you can tell me where to get pumpkin puree...
Ha ha. I thought I looked on Lazada.
Did not know that Amway was still a thing.
I think they’ve completely pivoted to a skin care company over the last decade
Other brilliant video
More to come!
I like this hood vibe!
Serg I was in Hanoi a decade or two ago during December and the streets were flooded with father Christmas decorations. Far more than back home in Australia where we now seem ashamed of our own heratige. Very sad IMO. I've only travelled along the main river on Bangkok boats. Great experience. Would love to explore the canals. How do you know which boat to take? Couldn't see any signage. Love seeing vision of real Bangkok not tourist Bangkok.
At every station on these canal boats, there is a largemouth with station names and numbers. And it’s very inexpensive. I went about 3/4 of the whole line and it was right around $.60 US definitely give these boats a try, there a great way to get around and to see some of the other areas of Bangkok
9:31 so close 😂
Ha ha ha
I'll be in Bangkok all December. Maybe cross paths. I stay Holiday Inn Soi 22.
Hope you have a wonderful time.
