Glad to share Brighton. It's not often that our coaches get to coach each other :-)

I would engage a bit more as the coach in this session.. I almost feel as if he is distracted or not connecting?

There was no coaching done that day. It was just a chit chat with a coachee who seems to be speaking post a 2 years silence

Thanks for your feedback. What opportunities would you have taken to go another route?

As a newly certified coach, I'm just wondering if clients would wonder what they are paying for, he barely spoke?

Lisa - thanks for your comment and congratulations on your certification! One thing I've seen (I do the videos - I'm not a coach) is that the more advanced a coach is, the less speaking they do. With time, the questions become more exacting and they can hold a space for the client to discover the answers without providing much input themselves. They are just guiding the client.

It seems to me that these videos are from fairly newly-qualified coaches practicing.

Sometimes it's just about having someone to listen to and to voice ideas off of, to organize your brain & your mind.

I agree with Lisa - a lot of talk from Jennifer with no coaching - 30 minutes of Jennifer babble.

I‘m baffled. This was self-coaching. The coach had minimal and random contributions. That constant laughter was inappropriate, irritating and, in my view, a sign of anxiety and discomfort. It can‘t be easy to be recorded and know the video will be posted on TH-cam, but for a PCC level, this was very disappointing . Shame, I was hoping to learn something.

Thank you for watching the inviteCHANGE Life Coaching Sample. We believe allowing the ease of laughter between coach and client supports ICF Core Competency #3 - Cultivates Trust and Safety and enables authentic presence for coach and client. Coaches all have their unique satisfiers that land differently for everyone. You've highlighted how important it is to ensure chemistry between coach and client that amplifies the coaching relationship before contracting.

@@inviteCHANGE good point, thanks for your comment. Surely the laughter was also mirroring the cheerful style of the coachee. But beyond that, I miss the presence of well placed questions that would facilitate the exploration. Given that the coachee is such an experienced professional (I admire her demos), I guess she had the space / opportunity, here, to self-coach. Maybe that was the role of the coach, ultimately…providing that space to her. Personally, I would not use this demo for educational purposes when preparing for the PCC credentials.

@@sabinagiustino6922 Thanks for your feedback and reflection of the session. Perhaps this will be the next video we use for mentor coaching demonstration videos, if you haven't seen those you should check it out! As coaching is a lifelong evolution and nobody can truly be a master of coaching, there are always ways to improve. We hope you continue to watch more of our videos and get the learning you desire!
