We had a family friend /church friend years ago he drove model t fords that his parents left him he farmed there old property and he had bees . Well everyone talked about the honey spinner he made from an old washing machine and how smart it was and how smart he was . That thought lead me to this video ❤ much love dude
Great video I need one year's ago I did thousands of turkeys we had one there work great but ours had water and the turkey went into a water bath first an water while pluking. After it was clean out it was put into a ice water tank overnight. Thanks again for the video
about $200-$250. The rubber fingers are about $70 for 100 of them. The the adjustable v-belt pulley was about $40. The aluminium plate that you need to machine yourself is about $100. Does not include shipping if you need the parts shipped to your home.
I’ve noticed on other builds have some sort of sprinkler system set up to rinse chickens as machine running. Will you install that are just use a hose? Also how many chickens will you be able to pluck at one time?? Nice vid I’m saving this one for reference
Again he never disappoints, awesome idea , creation, you are awesome. Great videos thank you and that awesome Joey for sharing. Chicken volunteer, so funny.
Here's a machinist tip when drilling holes. Get a can of WD-40 and spray it on the B when you're drill in the hole. Just one little shot of WD-40. Not only does it keep the drill bit Sharp it also causes it to cut a lot better and it will degrade into the metal a lot better. Which means quicker. This works on All Metals steel as well as aluminum
@@williambixby3785 it sucks as a lubricant period.... but does work good for drilling holes or as cutting fluid on the metal lathe .... I used it back before computerized ignition systems were installed in cars .. I the distributor cap for water in it , you could spray it in the cap and it displaces the water.. almost good as a cleaner for old grease and oil buildup... If you need a good penetrating oil , use Seafoam It really penetrates But the thing it's supposed to be used for , its doesn't work
@@ottoottodog I haven't heard that one before... but I know we used it way back for drying out distributors after running through a deep mud puddle .. that's back when you didn't need a computer to fire up your engine...
Really interesting project. Ironically we just has a washing machine start leaking 2 days ago... Guess I'm gonna need to make my own version now too. I'm glad you came across my channel, because that timing couldn't have been better!
Great video! I'm following your design and building one this week, where did you get the pulleys from though? Would a 9" pulley work? Or would that spin the plate too fast? Thanks so much for your help!
Thanks for the video. Only thing I would like to suggest to make it a little faster and easier on the body.... When putting the fingers in the bottom plate, use cooking spray or oil and instead of pulling the fingers through, just push them in from the top and tap them with a rubber mallet if you need to. I have arthritic hands si I have to save them wherever possible.
Love this idea. What a great use of an old washer. Can't wait to see it in action. Nice! (Enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing) All the best from Southwestern Iowa.
So you talked about feathers and water coming out, but from where? Theres no hold for that and no real space between the metal plat and the edge of the drum, so while water can escape the feathers ....i just dont see how they can get out. Is there a video that shows how you finished this and that shows it in action?
Do you think this would work for Muscovy duck? They are much digger than a chicken. Looking back did you make any improvements or do you think adjustments are necessary for a duck?
@@AmericanAdventuresTJ well, we will find out! So close to being finished with the project. All that's left is mounting the motor, bracing and putting on the belt!
Fantastic video! Borrowed a friends store bought one this past weekend and loved it. I just don't like the price tag that comes along with it. How much did you spend total? I appreciate the info and you definitely have a new subscriber.
Okay, now that I slept on it...do you think that the tub is spinning fast enough? Maybe a smaller wheel or bigger motor for MORE SPEED, Tool Time Tim!!🤣🤣 🇺🇸
If for some reason it doesn’t work good, you could always fire up the new smoker/grill and invite friends and family over for one heck of a plucking party.
So I thumbs up’d your video for creativity and effort, but honestly my time is worth money. In my opinion, the time it takes to put all of this together, pay for the extra parts, and overall engineering it makes more sense to buy one. This would take me no less than 8 hrs. I’d say 16 hrs to perfect it. Pretend I make $50 per hour on my day job that’s 16 x $50 = roughly $800 and that’s conservative. Love your build and your enthusiasm to teach us, but to me it makes more sense to buy it.
This was pretty much my conclusion. I have a small farm, (we don't even do anything commercial, don't mess with cows or sell anything now, and our primary focus is our own horses), and I'm already up to my neck in a mile long to-do list. I can pull on my boots with one project in mind, then discover a flat on the tractor or a tree down on a fence line. It's always one thing or another and the plan I woke up with can go out the window pretty fast! 😄 Fun and interesting to watch other's peoples' projects during my morning coffee or during a break, but I'm just going to buy one of these.
It worked great, better than expected. The motor is a littls on the weak side, but worked. We only had one bird tear, but we had scalded that one too long. We still think it was better than spending the money to buy one. Besides, it's hilarious to put a chicken in a washing machine!
Fantastic idea nice job
I so appreciate you talk the measurement because other people that make it on TH-cam that don't talk

@12:40 using a 3/4" counter sink for smoothing the edges would save a lot of time. Food for thought for all watching. Great video. Thanks.
Relaxing and very informative... Kool video!
Would it hurt to much if I use a 3 1/4x1/2in. pully on the motor? I ask because I have one,
Genius!!!
Great idea to keep the motor out of the water way.

Amazing. I've been looking for an instructional video exactly like this. I'm doing this. Thanks!
Brilliant! We can't get pluckers shipped to Alaska, so I've been looking for an alternative. Love this idea.
Hubby and I enjoyed this!!! Boy though! Lots of work!
Awesome build!!
Can never go wrong with them electrical tape bandages. Good design on the plucker too, great job!
So how much did it cost after buying all the parts and that thick aluminum sheet?
Curious about this myself....

Thank you. I have the fingers and the washer and now I know what to do with them. Great video. 👍
OK your really good at what you do. I'm surprised you don't have drill press.
Excellent upcycle! How did you address the exit to discard feathers?

You can use a router to cut your circle. Use cutting fluid.

good job Gagnons. thanks
so where and how did you figure out to expel the feathers? also how did you determine the number of needed rubber fingers? thx

where to get those black rubber fingers? they won't push thru? thanks

One question that I may have missed in the video. What did you use for the pulley shaft?
it was the original shaft from the washing machine.
I did not see the parts noted and you did not explaine how the feathers drain out with the water... do you have to cut channels out of the bottom??
I don’t see a total cost. The washer was free, but how much were the fingers? The aluminum plate? The pulleys? Etc etc. All in all, about how much?
Where did you get your fingers? Are they the Kent C-25 fingers?
Where did you get your metal plate? Pulling, bearings, and such
Everything was off amazon. Except the metal plate.
@@AmericanAdventuresTJ thank you. We're the fingers the Kent C-25 fingers
I needed to know how to take the washer apart first.
Très bien merci
Should I have to use a metal plate inside of it ????
Where where does the water and Feathers go
So what do you do to prevent being electrocuted , water and electricity is a problem
what is the thickness of the aluminum plate ?
Good idea but Where are the feathers go?
There fingers on the underside of the plate that push the feathers out a chute on the side.
nice it is interesting.
Do you think this would work for Muscovy duck? They are much digger than a chicken. Looking back did you make any improvements or do you think adjustments are necessary for a duck?

What name of black rubber inside the mini dress machine
What was the final cost if your project here?

Did he said volunteer chicken? Do the chicken knows about this?
Where does it from when using the water?

whats the name of that black rubber

I was wondering if it was going too fast! We'll trybit out this weekend.

So what did it fondly cost u?
Will be waiting to see it work. Scalding and plucking chickens is not my most favorite chore. Be well. Take care.
Wonder how a clothes dryer would work?
Veri gud
How did it hold up?
So far we have processed over 100 birds in it the last two years, getting ready to do this years batch in a few weeks. No issues.
where does the feathers go???
We cut a hole in the side for them to come out.
Where did you get the shaft from.
The shaft was the original from the washing machine.
If for some reason it doesn’t work good, you could always fire up the new smoker/grill and invite friends and family over for one heck of a plucking party.
whats the name of those black rubber spikes
They are called chicken plucker fingers. I got them on amazon.
@@AmericanAdventuresTJ Hi Gagnons.
which size did you use it? 6.5 cm or 9 cm?
@@khoalata for the fingers we used 3/4 inch.
Wow.. brilliant idea.. ... lets be friends
How much was the total cost?
I think total was between $150 and $200.
That’s not bad. They are like $600. Seems worth doing. I found a similar piece of aluminum for $60 just seems like alot of drilling
Where do you get the rubber chicken plucker ?
I ordered the fingers off amazon.

How do amazon call it, chiken plucker?
Thank you very much, blessing.

Is that an Ural?
