Who saved Natal? Book by Colin Bender about the struggles with the port entrance in the early days.
I live in SA and travel to Durban from time to time. This is amazing
Thank you 😊
Durban is the greatest city in the world (from Scotland UK)
That's a matter of opinion. Not fact. I grew up in Durban. It is not the city it once was unfortunately.
@@warrentaylor7117 That's a shame. Christmas 1985 was my first visit. Was incredibly great.
Hi. Hope you don't mind me asking. Are you from South Africa? Since I see from your content that you have particular love for South Africa with a lot of your videos focusing on South African cities. Great content. Just subscribed. 👌👌👍👍
Hey, yes I am, I was born in Durban, lived there for half my life and now live in Cape Town. Thanks for subscribing 😊

❤DURBAN. You missed the part that INDIAN SLAVE'S built majority of this starting from the mines and railroads with the help of our ZULU bros 🇿🇦🌍
A city that was one of the most beautiful to one run down to junk
Ahhhh Man that is so cool - Thank you for this!
@@robmonkriedlinger thank you 😊
Brilliantly done!
Thank you! 😊
The background music is so loud it's competing with the narrator. 🙆♂️
This is great!
I think the uMngeni River used to flow into the bay originally.
I had also heard this somewhere. But the earliest hand drawn maps I have of the very early settlement dont show this and I suspect it would have been a huge engineering project to divert it. If there is any info out there on this I'd be keen to see it.
I think it split with part of the river going out to sea and the balance feeding the marshland that was between the River and Greyville Race course, the Race Course was built in 1844 so they built a canal to drain the land into the harbour
Great work! Check for Nils servitude, engineered to drain the marshland water, starts near the ICC building area of the CBD, direct into the Harbour. Currently a thick slab of concrete covers it on some parts. Hope thus helps
My Dad is writing a book about the history of the Dbn harbour and would like to contact you. Can you send me your email address please? Tks Kary
Thank you so much, I will check this out!
How many different stories you could tell which are known by different (languages) and (cultures) and actual history. Not modern history.
