Johannesburg South Africa, recreated in Cities Skylines

Johannesburg, or Jozi if you are a local, is South Africa's largest city. Built on the richest gold deposits the world has ever seen, modern Johannesburg still has reminders of its early mining heritage with massive, vaguely gold coloured mine dumps dotted around the city. Here, the city of gold has been recreated in Cities Skylines.

How did you get the planning of the roads?

I used Google Earth and Google Maps, but these days its easy, just use this mod from the workshop steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2616880500

Thank you. Joburg can be very green in mid summer and very brown in winter so I went for an in-between look for the theme :)

@@jetjunky6760 Are you an asset creator? I think the architecture in SA especially around the Sandton area would make great assets.

I dont create my own assets, although I do use Procedural Objects for things I cant find on the workshop. There are a few asset creators who make some awesome South African assets, notably @Shubz26.

Did you start this city all from scratch?

Yes I did. I play a very modded version of the game with the aim of recreating real life cities, my cities function properly but I don't play it as a game using money etc.

@@jetjunky6760 I don't have the game yet, what I am planning to do is recreate cities like Johannesburg and some features like bicycle lanes (which jozi lacks in some way) gautrain 2 route, a congestion charging zone, and a subway.
By the way how did you get the mine dumbs in the south?

@@Khado819 You will love this game, it should go on sale on Steam soon. Your project sounds amazing, look forward to seeing it. For the mine dumps I used an ore texture from Theme Mixer mod which resembled the dumps in real life. Check out the workshop for some assets.
