      That makes sense. If Hylia was tasked by the other gods to safeguard the Triforce, she would have had to have her servants safeguard it in her stead. The Sheikah would have been "low" enough on the "divinity scale" as it were to be able to do that after the Triforce passed into mortal hands, no matter how many pieces it was in.

      That’s true. What convinced me, which I should have mentioned in the video but audience retention is so hit or miss is that Basket looks much different from the average Hylian. Blue Green eyes. Tan complexion (implying being closer to the sun). Tribal tattoos that mimic Zonai architecture. And longer ears. The closest Hylians that I can observe would be the Lurelians. As they share the same olive complexion and are close to the Zonai ruins. I also think the longer ears are a Zonai trait that emulate the longer ears of Dragon Man. Those are my off the cuff thoughts. I appreciate your feedback!

Basket must another incarnation of Zelda from 20,000 years ago at the very Least, but probably much more ancient. i think that she might have had a close relationship with the Zonai, perhaps even living with them so that would explain the way she dresses & the tattoos. but we will see!! 18 days away :) she might just be a Zonai after all!

The ability to perceive time with it, and the shining light it emits. Zelda has been associated with time a lot and link is known as the "light that must shine upon hyrule once again" as well as that people think zelda has time travelled with her recall tear, and hylia has also been associated with light which would allow it to make sense that this dragon man is some kind of light elemental dragon and that this connection of light and time is what links (no pun intended, again) the two.

Great empires have done this before. If I’m being fully transparent, I think that Basket having longer ears is the distinction that really sells my idea. If you accept my premise, that the figure discussed is a dragon and is considered a god. That figure has long ears. Ears that match depictions of the Divine Insect. The individuals with ears that are longer than the average Hylian (like Basket) could also be considered to be “closer to the gods” in that aspect.

    I think Demise, even though called Demon King, wasn't actually a Demon. Rather, I think he's actually a God.
    It's stated in Skyward Sword, that Demise was sealed away BEFORE Hylia herself then tried to use the Triforce to destroy him. Which is when she found out that Gods couldn't use the Triforce themselves, and so chose to reincarnate into a Mortal.
    So Demise wasn't around to learn that bit of information. And Hylia, an outright Goddess, couldn't destroy him.
    I think his "Curse" was 2 things. First, being HIS version of Hylia's reincarnation. Which is why he's reborn as....a Mortal.
    Secondly, I think it's showing WHICH God he was. Din was the Goddess of Power. Nayru, of Wisdom. Farore, of Courage. Hylia, of Time. And Demise, of Destiny/Fate.
    He's the only being to do something that outright CHANGES people's long-term Fates. (Outside of the Golden Goddess's on one occasion.)

      Full Theory
      Despite being called the Demon King, I believe Demise isn't actually a Demon. I believe he's actually a God.
      In Skyward Sword, it's established that he went to war against Hylia, the Goddess of Time, and lost. Yet.....she couldn't destroy him. Or even KILL Demise. She could only trap him.
      Which tells us that, while he lost the war, Demise is at least of EQUAL power to Hylia.
      Which......canonically doesn't make sense. ALL Demons are SHOWN to be repelled, and defeated by any artifacts related to the Goddesses.
      Yet, one can't even kill the "Demon" King?
      Another thing to question is Demise's "Curse." While it seems, at surface level, just that. It speaks something more, 2 things in fact.
      1) A reflection of Hylia's reincarnation. And 2) A telling of what Demise REALLY is:
      The God of Destiny.
      While it seems far-fetched, it actually would seem to fit into the Lore of LoZ.
      The 3 Golden Goddesses: Power, Wisdom, and Courage, are the ones that made the World. But they left it into the hands of "Others."
      Hylia is the only other God mentioned. But if you look at both, Time and Destiny, it actually matches up with 2 of the 3 GG's.
      Hylia, being Time, would represent Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom. As with Time COMES Wisdom.
      Looking at it that way, Destiny would represent Power, or the Power to change one's OWN Destiny.
      Which, admittedly I don't have an answer for, leaves a blank space for Courage.
      However, going back to Skyward Sword's lore: Demise was imprisoned BEFORE Hylia tried to use the Triforce to destroy him. And therefore: He wouldn't have learned that the Triforce's power doesn't work for Gods.
      So Demise, being the God of Destiny, would KNOW that his fate was to be forgotten in obscurity by the Hylians. And, being a God, couldn't accept it.
      Which is what lead him to taking over all Demons and becoming their King: So that's by force, he could take over the land that would praise another God, while forgetting him.
      He would become obsessed with changing HIS own fate. And, becoming consumed by the resentment of being forgotten, would learn to harness that Power as Malice.
      Beginning when Demise was defeated by the First Link, as he would then manage to do something that NO ONE, outside of the Golden Goddesses on ONE occasion, had ever done before or since: Change the Destiny of others.
      Demise's Curse when looked at, at whole, screams reincarnation (obviously) but he didn't come back until Ages passed.....much like Hylia's reincarnation is described. And as such, he comes back as.......a Mortal. Like Hylia.
      Idk, as I also feel like there's still more to this. And also some to debunk it. But it seems to line up to me. Just a bit too well.
      Let me know what y'all think. I haven't been able to organize it much in the past few days like I wanted to. But would also love some input either way on it.

      The three dragons in Skyward Sword have a counterpart: Levias. All three hold part of the Song of The Hero and Levias holds the fourth. So the new, fourth dragon may be the latest incarnation of Levias. This would be especially fitting given the sky island theme of TotK, as Levias was appointed to be the guardian of the skies by Hylia. Perhaps he wasn't in BotW because the sky barrier remained intact, but the Upheaval reintroduces the sky islands to Hyrule and Levias with them.

    Very nice video! I want to offer some additional food for thought as well. *POSSIBLE SPOILERS* In the leaked images from the art book this character is depicted with that third eye actually open. In particular there is a pose of him in an action pose (as if he's casting a spell or something) with it open. That, along with the teardrop shape on his nose, makes for some interesting similarities between that and the Sheikah symbology. I'll also add that this character's name has been identified from the same leaks (but I won't be spoiling that here) and that adds to some interesting theories as well. I'll also say that i think this character mostly resembles a rabbit (you can see profile shots in the art book) as opposed to a dragon. Lastly, I sort of feel like this character plays a similar role to Link and I almost want to say that if Zelda is a reincarnation of Hylia, perhaps Link could be a reincarnation of this guy. Just a thought.

    Not quite correct but you were close. It's worth noting that the term God is interchangeable with Spirit when the Han 神 (Kami) is used as it was for the Tower of Spirits in Spirit Tracks. Various other languages also used the translation of "Tower of the Gods". You've also noted that the term gods and goddesses are used interchangeably when referring to Din, Nayru and Farore as well as the term god, spirit and deity are all the same in the original Chinese. Even demon in the original language just means evil spirit or evil deity so Demise is no different to Hylia.
    Demise says he hates the Gods' clan. Not the God's clan. Meaning it is a clan belonging to multiple gods or spirits. That could mean either the group of Kami who serve the Golden Goddesses or everyone who lives under the protection and leadership of the immortals like Hylia and her emissaries. Since a clan or tribe doesn't need to be of all the same race, then the Gorons, Hylians, Zora and others could easily be called the Gods' Clan or Gods' Tribe. As can the assortment of dragons, fairies and guardian spirits be called the Goddesses' Clan if that is who Demise was actually referring to.

And "the god tribe" is just another way of saying "Gods". The japanese language has a thing where singular and plural aren't always clear. Why make it more complicated…It could also just be a Zonai, but what we didn’t know is that they are related to dragons, like half-dragon or something like that. Still interesting but I don’t think they are introducing a new “race” for it to be something else than the Zonais, doesn’t make sense.

      Not sure what you’re saying exactly, but I’m saying that the god tribe has an established history: they’re a familiar people that we were unfamiliar with, and there’s a history of them in a lot of Zelda games. Do I think they’re connected to the Zonai? Absolutely. But they’re not the Zonai

    Yeah ive noticed that in Tears of the kingdom the frostbite, Charged, and ember armor sets are all refrences to the dragons and they say they were made for rituals. We also learn that swallowing a secret stone turns a person into a dragon. now notice how all of the normal dragons have large ears like Rauru. Also notice how the light dragon has no ears. See where im going with this? I think three ancient Zonai gods ate secret stones to turn themselves into great dragons so they could watch over the land.

    • @wizcatcheslightning
      @wizcatcheslightning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you’re completely right. And the Zonai saw this ritual and what it did and then labeled it as forbidden. Meanwhile we have a Hylian myth of the goddesses ascending but we didn’t know any better because we were dealing with the limited knowledge of the Hylians with their oral tradition.

  • @marsstarsssepix8702
    @marsstarsssepix8702 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What if Link is a deity as well & connected to the Zonia or his followers to say?
    In Majora’s Mask he wears the Diety Mask his armor has one crescent moon & a piece of the triforce as well as the silver stone cufflinks same as the type of stone look in Tears of the Kingdom robots.
    If you also look back at the mask itself it has the forehead curve & the two dashes on both eyes ,separate from Majora’s Mask

The kanji for the word "kami" and the suffix "gami" are exactly the same (hime = female, gami = kami). Also I believe that the dragon lady will be a guide to Link due to Hylia being busy with Zelda. Ohhh or maybe the dragon lady is related to the evil horn statue that is found in Hatano village. "The main colors of a dragon are blue and green"? That's not necessarily true. Growing up, I was taught the history of Japan and saw many paintings of dragons that came in a slew of different colors. The one really famous painting by Hokusai (the same artist who drew the painting of a tidal wave that everyone has seen before) depicts a dragon in black and orange.
    You might got that impression because there are two types of dragons in Japanese myth: the water/elemental dragons and the sky dragons. You're probably thinking of sky dragons because way back in the day, the Japanese people thought of "blue" and "green" as the same thing. They just called it "Ao". Some artists painted dragons in "Ao" (blue/green) as a way to suggest/communicate to the audience that they have the ability to fly, since the sky is also in the "Ao" color. It's like hinting something or telling a story through association. Much like how Fujin was often depicted in Ao to show that he has the power to control the wind in the sky.

    This video was certainly very enlightening! I figured that the mystery character in Tears of the Kingdom was an dragon from the way their "beard" resembled scales and the way their horns curve, but I came to a similar conclusion to you: The dragons were the closest to the gods, but not the Zonai themselves. I believe that the Zonai are an ancient people who would eventually become the Hylians we know. On top of that I believe, just as you mention the Japanese folklore of disguised dragons having relationships with humans, the god-tribe had relations with the Zonai and that the modern Hylians inherited much of them through this connection. With the Shiekah being also considered "servants" of the god-tribe it is no wonder that Shiekah-Technology has so much in common with what we saw from the Zonai devices in the trailers: They learned from their masters, but could not replicate it 1:1.
    In the end, the Zonai along with the Shiekah likely inherited the duties and blessings of the god-tribe to watch over Hyrule, the Triforce and the cycle of never-ending onnen from The King of Demise's "curse" upon them. All that is left of them are myth and, very likely, the few dragons still seen throughout Hyrule in Breath of the Wild. The torch has been passed over, so the god-tribe withdrew for good...until Tears of the Kingdom led to "complications".

    Well there is a chance that the person in the mural would be a demon, the tribe ascosiated with red and ganondorf/demise. The reason i say that is because the mural gives off demonic vibes with majora esc face, the levitating girl commonly associated with demons/possesions, and the creepy music.
    It also gives us with the race farthest from the gods, and a tribe to asosiate with the boar the zonai made statues off. The owls belong to the shiekha who make alot of blue stuff and are by far the WISEST of the tribes of hyrule due to their long life spans. Zonai who persumably made the green hhand in TOTK and the green goop it leaves behind when using its ultrahand ability and were COURAGEOUS warriors as stated in the barbarian set in BOTW. And the demons who are suposedly red/black due to the malice of the demon king demise and his incarnarion of ganondorf

    Just throwing this out there, but the actual first appearance of "goddess" in Zelda history is in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link--what the NA (NES) version called the "Trophy" was actually called a goddess statue, a "Megami-zou 女神像" in the JP (FDS) version. It even looks like the goddess statues from later on in the series as well.

    • @wizcatcheslightning
      @wizcatcheslightning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to shoot your comment down, and my next video will clarify this better, but “Megami-Zou” (goddess statue) is much different from “Megami-Sama” (The Goddess, a title of reverence). Your point is still interesting! And I think that it perfectly explains how we get form The Adventure of Link to A Link To The Past with the creation myth first being introduced mentioning the goddesses
