    Regarding 9:30:
Hylians, or People of Hylia, refers specifically to the ethnicity of long-eared humans, which also includes Sheikah and in some circumstances Gerudo.
Hyrulean refers to people who live in or or historically connected to Hyrule, and encompasses all its peoples.

    • @wizcatcheslightning

Originally I was going to comment that the speculative translation of that Japanese is kinda eeeeehhhhh. It reminds me, a bit of sentiment I see sometimes in Japanese learning circles who like to suggest that people who don't speak Japanese natively will never truly understand it, which; as Colonel Potter in MASH would say, is horse-hockey.
The problem isn't inaccurate translations at all. You can know, pretty confidently a translation from any language to another language is correct. Where it gets messy is when you take into account culture, or inherent properties of the language that will never translate, like puns, rhyming, and etc. For example, did you know that the name Rito is a not very hidden joke/reference to something in real life? Rito is made of up two syllables in Japanese; り and と. If you reverse the order of those words you get とり (tori). Tori, is the Japanese word for "bird."
But you are kind of correct as well. It can even, and often is, true that interpretation of intent within the same language is disputed. A silly example of this is the sentence: "I saw her duck" What does that mean? Without context it could mean a woman ducked. Or it could mean that a person saw a duck belonging to a woman.
The point is, the problem you describe is so much worse than between languages. It's not unique to translation. Which I guess is kind of me agreeing with you.
One nitpicky aside though. Japanese isn't really more efficient than English. Japanese writing can be more efficient (and often is). Which is important in a game where the story is written out. But they are still constrained by syllables and the rules of the language.
For example, take the English sentence: "I think I saw her in the store"
The Japanese translation (at least how I would translate it) would be: 店で彼女を見たと思います
Which is less characters, but not less syllables. If wrote that out in hiragana it would be: みせでかのじょをみたとおもいます
15 syllables in Japanese versus 8 in English.
And that's not even getting into where we have words to describe a thing/action where they don't (this goes both ways though). For example: "I'm hungry" = "お腹がすきました" = "My stomach became empty"
Language is messy. It's a miracle it works at all.

Hey there wiz. I wanted to point out something. The three elemental dragons that were in breath of the wild in tears of the Kingdom have the names similar to the three golden goddesses. And since Zelda is the vessel of hylia. She at the end of the game becomes a dragon. But if you look at her dragon form she narrow nose and sharper face. But if you look at the other dragons they look more like Zonai.
Evenin original Japanese lore some kami are dragons. And in order to become an immortal dragon one must swallow the sacred stone. As Zelda did in tears of the kingdom. Now the Three dragons have a deep connection to the triforce. Because of the springs they guard. What if the three golden goddesses were actually Zonai who then again in the game lore descended upon the world and appeared as Gods. And the triforce isn't no longer necessary anymore because those are a product of lesser gods. So we focus ourselves to the goddess hylia. Because she's a greater light force. And Zelda becoming a dragon was an inevitable event in order to recreate the master sword in order to fight demises curse.
But I've also noticed a bloodline issue with the royal family when it comes to Zelda. The sheikah have to be a part of the bloodline in order for Zelda to be reincarnated. Especially in ocarina of time. One line always kept bothering me especially in young Zelda's introductory scene. When the player learns the Zelda's lullaby. Impa sings her a lullaby Even though the sages of light is King Ruaru and impa the age of shadow could be the king and queen of that time. Even in breath of the wild You Don't see the queen of Hyrule. I believe that the princess has to have a combination of sheikah and royal blood in order to reincarnate.
An if like the other stages are not the only ones who reincarnate other characters reincarnate as well.
Like Malon from ocarina of Time you don't have to be sage to reincarnate in the land of Hyrule or be a hero you have to be involved with them I believe though.
Know who can Malon reincarnate to I think your obvious choice is Beetle in breath of the wild. Because of three things beetle does not throw his arms up holding them together unless being involved with interaction with link past life memory like how malon sings in OofT.
Pointing out even selective environment is involved with reincarnation memory and character.
Even then in breath of the wild he does have a comment about being married in a previous life. Because of crossing paths multiple time. Even then beetle is not very far from "horse stables."

Maybe this doesn't mean anyting, but Tatl pray for the "Godness of Time" the first time they confront Skull Kid in the Clock Tower, and it can be a deity from Termina because they only have the 4 giants, so maybe Hylia was hinted since Majora Mask

Tatl knowing about Hylia makes me think that fairies are not originaly from Termina, because they dont have the same fancy Fairy Spring like Ocarina of Time, and they are weak against Majora's power, but this probable means nothing.

WIZCATCHESLIGHTNING !!! I have had a revelation and it would KILL ME if I didn't share it with someone who knew what i was talking about:
I watched your video on Richard and Hylia with Moxie. You and her proposed that Richard is a shapeshifter able to become a dragon as a guide to Link. I didn't read the artbook and I don't know any spoilers aside that some people translated Richards name in the Japanese artbook as (GET THIS): " Rauru ".
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? It means that if Richard is part of the Zonai from 10,000 years ago, Rauru from Ocarina of Time was Richard in disguise or shapeshifted to look like a Hylian.
This would go along with the fact that there are SEVEN sages (think SEVEN tears of the kingdom) and each sage is one of the following races in Hyrule:
    Hylian: Zelda
    Kokiri: Saria
    Sheikah: Impa
    Gerudo: Nabooru
    Goron: Darunia
    Zora: Ruto
    Hylian: Rauru
Did you catch that? TWO HYLIANS. If Zonai are in Tears of the Kingdom and in ancient Hyrule, wouldn't there be a ZONAI SAGE instead of TWO HYLIAN SAGES???? Was Richard disguised as a Hylian to become a sage, the representative of the Zonai???
So sorry for the insanely long amount of text: I've been holding it in and couldn't keep it to myself. Please feel free to make any theories or lore vids with this information, and tell me if you already knew. I would LOVE to hear your thoughts.

I already knew but let me go one further for you: light, when concentrated, is the color white. What happens when solid white light splits into 7? It splits into the 7 colors of the visible spectrum: ROY-G-BIV 😎

10:55 “Much like how the God of Christianity shed His divinity to become Jesus” I get that this is not at all the point of the video, but this isn’t really accurate to Christian beliefs. The classical definition is that Jesus retains both divine and human nature (fully God and fully man). At best, you give a poor understanding of the incarnation that leans too much on the heresies of modalism and kenoticism. I get the point you are trying to make, but Christ doesn’t really work as an allegory for Hylia - Disney’s Hercules would be a bit more accurate, Jesus is more akin to one of the Golden Goddesses.
Imprecise theology aside, good video! I thoroughly enjoyed the dive into Zelda lore

    • @wizcatcheslightning
      @wizcatcheslightning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, because Jesus is both God and Man yet also part of the Holy Trinity. It’s a neat aspect of the Holy Mystery. I had to grab something tangible even though it’s not exactly 1:1. I disagree about the golden goddesses aspect being more accurate, but I can see what led you there. The golden goddesses “ascend into the heavens” which, if you look at that with a lens of Shintoism/Buddhism, means they escaped Samsara (unless we hear about them/see them in TOTK and get told otherwise).
Glad you enjoyed the video! Happy to talk more religion or whatever interests you. I’m going to have to look into moralism and kenoticism for certain (first time actually hearing about those)! Most importantly, thank you for watching/commenting 🤗

Hylia was intended to be part of the lore before even that. There was that big N64 file leak a couple years ago which has a demo build of Ocarina of Time for the Spaceworld presentation in it. In that, the Temple of Time was then named the "Cathedral of Hylia". The design on some of the temple's stonework and on the time blocks was more obvious as well, showing a winged female form, near identical to later Hylia depictions. Likely they would have had to have explained this 4th goddess if they went with that but then realised they didn't have enough time to do so.
This is also further evidence that Hylia's particular sphere of influence is time. Yes, she is the guardian of this world and the triforce, but how better to do that than to have dominion of time? This is how she is so seamlessly able to put her plans into motion regarding becoming Zelda.
I think you're wrong about some things, though. I used to think that "Richard" was singular. One of a kind, and not a zonai, but closely connected to them. I now think (2 days before we all find out so 11th hour theorising here) that there are others like him...but that he isn't a typical zonai. I think there is a process, maybe a process of enlightenment or exposure to divine forces that turn mortals, such as the zonai into kami. Richard is halfway between zonai and kami/dragon. But I do not think that typical zonai are inherently dragons. I think that "mystery tanned woman" is on that path too. She's a little more than other zonai, but not as far along as Richard, and definitely not as far along as Dinraal, Naydra, And Farosh. Yes, I think the 3 known dragons were mortal once.
It could be possible that this process is tied to the tears. I say this only because we know already that both mystery woman and Richard use one. The flaw in this theory is that the three dragons do not have one. But that dodesn't mean that they didn't at one point. I refer back to Eastern dragon mythology in how dragons were nearly always said to guard a sacred stone of some sort.
I should disclose that I've seen the art book leaks, although I've vehemently avoided the full game leak. That said, nothing in the artbook has really contributed to my theory, beyond having reason to think that zonai don't typically look like Richard.

Great video you've got here. You make really great videos and I actually have notifications on for you. One thing I love to see becoming more popular that I see in all your videos is double checking with the original Japanese script. This has some interesting information I've never thought of. Like one thing is I never really thought about how they changed Zeldas eye color in Breath of the Wild. For a while I've been kinda tired of seeing theories trying to connect the Shiekah to the Twili and Zonai because it feels like a stretch a lot of the time. This video however presents interesting points no one ever talks about. I particularly like the Wind Waker section of the video. I never really thought about where the Wind Waker came from and it's interesting to see you bring it back to Hyila. Wind Waker has some really interesting lore implications that I think get overlooked a lot. Some of the points you've made regarding Tears of the Kingdom are really good and I hope within the next few days, we can see them be true. Also, think of this. What if the Shiekah were originally dragons descended from the God Tribe? Impa in Skyward Sword could be related to the God Tribe which could explain her longer life span.

Majoras mask is a more warped and evil variation of Rauru's necklace. So you could make the argument that it was made to make fun of the gods or defy their existence much like the yiga clan with their upside down tear of the shiekah.

It’s so unfortunate to see elements of this theory (and of the video before it) disproven by TOTK now that it’s out. Because it was very well thought out and articulated. Sadly, “Richard” is indeed a Zonai and not at all a dragon.

    • @wizcatcheslightning

If you’re going to discredit the fact that the Zonai historically partook in the ritual of draconification and let that further discredit everything else we got right in this video, well then I don’t know what to tell you. @@wizcatcheslightning i have a curious hiptohesis with draconification XD, maybe zonai like ruaru and the other dragons are true eternal dragons when zelda and ganondorf are like not a true eternal, like when goku and vegeta use fussion with the errings and when a god use, goku and vegeta is imperfect when god is forever, zelda and ganondorf both have like a weak spot, for zelda the master sword its like she suffer when we try to extract it, and ganondorf the big gem(true probably most gameplay than other thing XD) when the other dragons have no weakspoot almost no visible

@@wizcatcheslightning if you look at the comparisons of sky loft to the great plateau, they like up the statue of hylia with the temple of time, and the river of the dead with the existing water on skyloft. But if you flip the skyloft map 180 and line the statue with mount hylia; the river of the dead is that empty space in front of the statue of Hylia and the lowest part of skyloft when it was in the air (the water) is now dried and the forest of spirits.
