@Michael what drop did you use? Also, was it complicated to do the conversion? I'm looking to do a 5.3 swap or ls swap on my 93 pretty soon and you sir have a very nice setup
Whats done to the LQ9 for 400hp? I love the truck but Im just wondering how you arrived at that number since it doesnt sound cammed? Ive got a swapped cammed and nitrous LQ4 in my 74 step btw. Project SteppinWolf build thread 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=670303
Bad Luck Garage long tubes and a tune. 400HP is what the tuner told me. looked good in the for sale ad. The motor is 360 HP stock so the 400 number didn't seem out of line to me. Never verified though.
LQ9 is actually 345 stock. I could believe 400 crank hp with a cam, full exhaust, and an aggressive tune, but just long tubes and a tune I think thats a little far fetched, lol. Either way Im sure its still a fun truck. Very sharp as well!
Thanks man! Ya it's been sold for two years now the details are a bit fuzzy. About to start a 73 crewcab build though. 4 doors Detroit steel wheels and everything else the same as this would make me happy. Well, maybe that and a turbo!
heck yea! Im about to start on my bodywork. I may go turbo after that. My main concern is daily driver at the moment so im just gonna have to be happy with the nitrous for now.
275/40/20 front. 315/35/20 rear. wheels started life as 20x8 centerline tomahawk 3. widened by weldcraft to 9.5 front and 11 rear. 1.5 inch spacer rear and 1/4 inch makes it all just fit. Drop is spindles and diesel springs cut a bunch up front and a flip kit out back.
David Jr. thanks! I miss it. Actually saw the guy I sold it to a few months ago. He drives it allot, uses it to haul motorcycles and for around the house projects, too. He also added a limited slip and fixed or modified a few other things. It’s in a good home.
$2000 for motor 1850 for Camaro trans, oil pan, bell housing, shifter, ls7 clutch, flywheel. $400 for tune $300 for longtubes $1000 for misc parts like fule lines electric fans, mounts, etc. couple hundred for driveshaft shorten and rebuild. probably more I'm forgetting.
easy way out? lmfao...youve obviously never done an LS swap. Building a 400hp small block would have been the easy way out. But no where near as reliable.
***** You have not own a small block before. My 96 Tahoe had 315,000 before water got in the oil. I re-ring and bearings the bottom, put on new heads, a hotter cam and a knew spider. I have a video of the 1st start.
That's clean!! I have a 07 Suburban same color.
Beautiful!
Straight out of the 90s! Sweet
Simple and clean I like it....
Question....did you hit that animal and get out to check the truck and then just decided to do a walk around?
I'd bet after 4 years of avoiding the question we have our answer
Damn I never thought I would see the same truck I have except different color and different rims looks nice and sounds nice
That is such a nice truck omg.
gonna need the specs of the suspension/tires/wheels.Perfection.
Sweet exhaust!
Nicest chevy, good bless

Did you have a custom driveline built? Is it a 1 piece or 2 piece?
Dustin Hachtel Had the stock driveshaft shortened. Forget how much.
I’m pretty sure it was a 2 piece, been awhile. Whatever it was stock it stayed that way except for shortening.
Is that a short bed or regular stock bed
Is that a dead cat behind your truck?
Josh Parr looks like it...
Lol it is....

LSX block?
I doubt it’s a lsx block he has lq9 stated. Don’t understand why people use LSX so loosely like that
Jay6speed yup, Iron LQ9. I use LSX because it’s all the same family, LS1,2,3,etc parts bolt to it, and as a common search term for hits.

Nice truck to bad you went the easy way and install an LS engine. Sellout.
That lq9 is more reliable than a factory 350 of that era built to have the same power the lq9 has.

ha! Ive probably built and blown up more sbcs than youve looked at. Dirt cheap and easy to rebuild. I could almost do it blindfolded by now.
