- Swapping out a sleepy little 4.3 for a 11:1 327 Chevrolet. Engine is .30 over with 041 casting heads. Roller Rockers and a comp 280H Camshaft. Longtubes and a 5 Speed Transmission. Father and Son Project. The truck is also a 5/7 Drop from Factory ride height. NV3500 Transmission with 3.42 stock 10 bolt rear end. Complete Restoration.

That’s a lot of chop for a 280 comp. Sounds good!! I ran that cam in a 350 with heavily ported 882 heads in my 74 Camaro.
But I’m going to have to build another engine for my 92 silverado. May have to go with a bigger cam. That sound!!!👍👍👍

Its not a terrible swap just make sure you get the right engine mounts ! wiring may be a nightmare though.
+Travis Campbell I'm debating swapping my 95 RCLB with a 305 for a 5.3/6.0 or just a fresh 350. Mine has the NV3500 and 3.42 gears and it has enough power as it is, so thinking a fresh TBI 350 will be cheapest and easiest. Only thing is the synchros are wearing out, just did a fluid change with GM Synchromesh but still a bit rough before the fluid warms up, so thinking I may need to have it rebuilt or just swap in a stronger TKO.
im currently swapping my 5.7 to another 5.7 (90" chevy extended cab 4x4) cracked the old 350 and chipped/ melted my passenger side head.. never did get stuck though!!

Beautiful truck man! I have a 93 Silverado 5 speed 4.3 and I'm swapping my 69 327 in the truck and I'm currently lost on the flywheel/starter combo. I'm hoping you could help with some insight on part numbers or anything that I might have trouble with and thank you in advance. 🖒

yea i also would like to know what exhaust your running i have a 97 rcswb vortec 350 that i am planning on building and love the way this lil 327 sounds! I know it wont sound exactly the same with the differnet cubic inches and bores but i can try to get it close lol
A 350 has the same 4.000 bore as a 327. Just a different crank. find either a 327 or a 307 crankshaft and you'll have the 327.

I plan on doing the same but 11:5:1 388 stroker on tbi setup haltech ecu swap. Built 700r4 2800 stall . Daily driver. Unless i wanna be different go like 305 😂

What clutch/flywheel setup did you use? I'm assuming the 327 is the same bolt pattern as the NV3500? I have an old 327 with about 10,000 miles that my grandfather built that I'm looking forward to replacing my old 305 with. Thanks!
+steve yager a 350 clutch and flywheel should work if the balance is the same. (internal or external balance) and all chevy smallblocks from the 305 to the 400 have similar bolt patterns

Did you have any smog issues after the swap? I have an 95 and looking to swap out the 305 stock motor for a big block...
We actually do not have smog testing here so I’ve been straight piped for quite awhile lol
What model msd distributor did you use? Also flywheel and clutch .

It’s been just fine I haven’t launched the truck at the strip yet but I also wouldn’t advise bearing on it 24/7. I’m at it’s limit with 400hp

Its not something you can put a dollar figure on,find an engine $1000(estimate)build it $2000-$3500,put it in$500,buy headers and build exhaust,fuel etc $1500....5 grand

The chopping sound/idle noise is from the cam. It is louder because it has open headers (no exhaust, goes from the engine to the headers and then into the air)

Silverado Kid all 4.3 engines and all small block V8 and all big block V8 Chevys use the same transmission, even the straight six in 230, 250 and 292 cubic inches all use the same transmission, automatic or standard
