    Your video helped a ton. Thank you. I have a newer LC4 with counter balancer but most of it is still very similar. Wouldnt have the balls to do it without your detailed step by step video. Thank you.

    great video, thanks! it helped a lot. however since I did it twice in a week, I can tell that you don't need to cut the plastic that holds harness. you can keep it in place and the cover slides without problem anyway.

    With synthetic oil 10w60 works great, the sound is less than oil 10w50 . Regards

    that frame a little bit nasty for some maintaince. But dayyym woman changing camshaft...now i've seen everything on the internet. You go girl!

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrius Krasauskas frame is a PITA to deal with, but eliminating the recirc valve on the valve cover helps. Thanks!

      Sam G Thanks! It was pretty self explanatory, a few bolts and clamps. I think there is a good photo thread about it on the KTM forums.

    If I'm guessing (and seeing correctly) the new cam has a greater duration for more lift-on-overlap, so you'd expect more top-end power at the expense of a little torque lower in the rev range. But if you plan on revving it hard all the time anyway...! I'll admit I'm impressed, servicing and particularly valve clearance checks scared me off buying a 690 Duke in favour of a Street Triple R. More fool me... Awesome video, keep it up!

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely more duration, maybe a bit more lift but mild. I'd like to see the actual specs. Fortunately the KTM top end is pretty simple...albeit noisy haha

  • @zrig1

    It's one of thos jobs where you wonder if it would just be simpler to drop the motor. I thought the Valve cover was PITA on the 690 enduro.

  • @adamusbe3
    @adamusbe3 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video :) One thing is missing, in 5:40 you remove cam tensioner cover, you didn't show how you installed it and this can be tricky part. In general if you remove this cover you can't just turn it as cam tensioner will be in blocked position. You have to: 1. Remove cam tensioner 2. Compress it to blocked position 3. Put it back compressed 4. Screw tensioner cover 5. Remove hex cover(which is inside tensioner cover) 6. Using e.g. 10 cm hex key push tensioner, tensioner unblock it self and will be in operational mode.

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      adamusbe3 Yeah all you do is keep it untensioned and let it back once installed. Never install a tensioner pre tensioned.

    Hello there.
    Tnx for the informative video. My Duke had a broken decompresion leaver, and there is small damage to the cam. Its not mandatory that I change it. But if I did. Did you find that the bike needs a retune, power commander etc?
    Im not after totally ultimate performance, but if I'm going to buy a new cam. For $100 more it may as well be the better one.
    Would appreciate your thoughts.
    Regards Mark R.

    • @ChixLife

    Where did you see the most gains with this cam? Low end, mid range or top end or just better performance all round? I have a 690 enduro r that I use for off-road riding and more low end grunt would be nice but I guess dropping a tooth off the counter sprocket could achieve this for me. Great job on the cam swap 👍

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was all on top, made it pretty gutless down low honestly with little gains on top. I ended up selling the bike years ago, but was a fun project!

  • @MikSane
    @MikSane 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another question as I am about to commit to the cam...did you do camshaft first? My only mod right now is a DNA s2 filter on a stock bike. Did you remap after the camshaft?

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did all the engine mods at once, and yes it will need to be remapped

    • @MikSane
      @MikSane 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you had it mapped prior to the cam install? Or you just took it for a test rip after you cam'd it?

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I rode it for a while after the cam install, it sucked. Absolutely terrible to ride untuned.

    Can 690 duke R version install this cam?

  • @jdm18244
    @jdm18244 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you doesn't setting up the piston for more cleareance and added the valve profile ?, because i think that new cam is provide higher duration and lifting ( according the comparassion picture ) and changing the spring valve to more harder ?

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This cam is not aggressive enough so piston/valve clearance isn't an issue. Very mild cam really.

    • @jdm18244
      @jdm18244 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it was, think it's good on low to mid range rpm ?, low profile cam mostly ;)

    • @ChixLife

      +jdm18244 It does help beef up the top end for sure

      I find the 690 is still a powerful bike as is. Mine is a Enduro R. Same same but shorter gearing and wheels ,i think. Do you find it made a big difference in torque and horsepower delivery? Was it worth the time invested in your opinion?

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RideOrangeKTM Not worth the time IMO, but I'm a sportbike person so the whole bike was lackluster.

      Okay! I understand where you come from. As a trail bike its a real mean machine but i could see why you don't find it as powerful on street use. Still a single after all! Thanks a lot for you opinion. Happy riding.

      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dawn Moon You don't notice the difference in the lobes in the video, or the difference in riding between the two cams? The lobe profile is much wider on the performance cam.

    • @dawn-moon
      @dawn-moon 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +chixwithtrix , I can see it now , I didn't notice it at first. Did installing this CAM increased the performance on its own, or did you remap the bike too ? ( nice video by the way :) )

    • @ChixLife
      @ChixLife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dawn Moon the bike has to be remapped with the cam. I did notice a difference riding the bike without a tune after the cam. Revs more freely and has more top end. Definitely needs mapping though, rides pretty bad, jerky and bad fueling.
