    I'm very impressed how low the distortion was. Produces very good power too. That amp seems like a real winner.

    Very nice demonstration on how to measure the different parameters of an amplifier! Thank you!

    I started investigating Class D with the 500ASP. Very impressed. They are still going strong. Later got a pair of 125ASX2 for my brother (at an awesome price). Recommend running the 125ASX2 in mono BTL-mode, balanced input, which will get about 200W into 8 ohms. I think these amps are an excellent value. Very easy application with the built in power supply. The sound quality is excellent for the price. Large sound stage, very fast, well damped bass and clear imaging.

    In terms of Audio power amp noise performance, it is important that the voltage-regulated power supply satisfies the power supply impedance requirement of the amplifier. This is why you see ICE power include the voltage regulated power supply on the same board as the amplifier, meaning they can match the voltage regulated supply to the amp. Without a low impedance voltage regulated power supply, amp currents which are non-symmetric will modulate and mix across the power supply impedance over frequency. This is especially true for non BTL class D output stages.
    The ICE power module will still need an EMI line filter, how large and what type of stage will have to be tested. This might be a good next video, to explore conducted emission pre-compliance with the ICE power module.

    Again, nice to know about distortion at 1khz, but need to know what it is across the whole audio band to decide whether it is looking good or not. As I have said before what an amp is like at 1khz does not tell you what it will be like at 50Hz, or 20khz etc. If you plan to compare the distortion of the JAT amp with your switching supply to using it with an old style transformer bridge and caps you will want a full sweep to do a proper comparison. If you don't you might miss out on something interesting 👍

      I agree with you. This was just a first feel-good test;) we will take a full set of measurements - and I am very interested in tests that you would like to see.

    Hi Eddie, thanks for the video. Can the distortion be so low ? I thought the output distortion is a function of the input signal distortion? Is the GW Instek signal really that pure ?

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the great question Richard! The GW Instek is very clean. I think it’s a 14 bit Arb, but I need to look at the spec again:)

    Do you have a buffer at the input of the purifi? Nilai already have a buffer but not the purifi module..

    Hi, thx for this work you do for us, could you also measure dual tone or multi tone analysis in terms of finding inter-modulation problems? lets say 1000Hz and 100 Hz and 1050 Hz mixtures, also transient rise fall times/settling/damping (in case of real speakers), many thx, Br Dexter

    Why is the ouput signal that fat lines ? seems to me that a second much higher frequency also on the output ? I do not understand A brickwal can gives ringing in your filters in your Loudspeaker system

    • @MrAletube
      @MrAletube 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      in class D amps there is a residual carrier high frequency,not audible

    • @pa3eka
      @pa3eka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hm probably not , but your tweeters may not like it , And send it back to the dealer right away , do all those Class D amps have this ? Or the ones you tested already ? maybe you've mentioned it before, and I'm the number 200 who notices 😀

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Bert. As @MrAletube commented, there is a high fequency that rides on the audio signal. This high Frequency is an artifact from the Class D switching (usually up around 500 kHz). The good thing is this is far above what we can hear - and the second thing is this gets filtered (hopefully).

    those THD values seems to be too low especially while clipping

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree Tomasz! I was thinking that as I was taking the measurements. I’ll have to look closer but I think this amp drops the output so as not to clip. The waveform didn’t hard clip. I kept turning up the signal but the waveform wasn’t cooperating:)

    Your tweeter isn't playing 100k it's playing whatever the pre made treble sound is that the studio picked which is within the 20k range

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback! I’m making the point that, although you can’t hear it, the high frequency from the switching can and does ride on the audio signal. So, when the bandwidth is out to 100kHz (not this amp) then that can get to the speakers. Thankfully the Class D amp switches at much higher frequencies so that will be attenuated greatly at the speaker output.
