  • The year 2029. A year which could be very important for humanity. The asteroid "Apophis" will come dangerous close to earth and possibly even collide. This clip shows a potential scenario...but of course only in fantasy! :)
    No. This clip doesn't show the impact of Apophis, since the asteroid is much smaller in reality and will impact with a probability of less then 1%. So don't worry!
    This clip was made for a competition and the goal was to detroy the earth somehow since the topic was "Earth goes boom".
    I have to admit it was funny to work once with such destructive fantasy... :)
    Music from Theme "The Mummy Returns" and "The Fifth Element".
    Software used: Lightwave & Vegas
    Production time: ~2 months.

    Dieser Clip stellt ein mögliches Szenario dar.
    Aber natürlich in Fantasie! :)
    Nein. Dieser Clip stellt nicht die Auswirkung von Apophis dar, da der Asteroid um einiges kleiner ist und im Jahre 2029 mit einer Wahrscheinlichkeit von unter 1% einschlagen könnte. So don't worry!
    Dieser Clip ist für eine Competition entstanden zum Thema "Earth goes boom" wobei das Ziel war die Erde auf irgendeine Weise zu zerstören. Das war mein Beitrag dazu. Für den ersten Platz hat es nicht gerreicht. Dennoch hat es Spass gemacht für einmal die destruktive Fantasie spielen zu lassen. :D

      You're wrong, the asteroid is not as big as "2 football fields". And I should also tell you that a simple asteroid that is the size of one of the 50 states in america or smaller can destroy the entire world, due to it's impact force. Try throw a tennis ball or a rock at a wall with earth's gravity, nothing will happen. But if you throw a rock from a point in space towards earth at the speed of light, you could imagine what kind of damage that one rock would do.

    Apophis cannot cause this type of extreme damage. This damage would cause an asteroid or comet like the one that killed the dinosaurs 65 million years ago (10km comet). The damage of apophis (250m) is much smaller but it is still significant to cause a cataclism.

    • @BolasDaGrk
      @BolasDaGrk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That is not true either. The moon when it was a planet called Theia, would and did cause this type of damage. It was the approximate size of mars. If this happened, no animals would be around today besides potentially different microorganism species in marine trenches.

    Apophis is not nearly large enough to cause such widespread destruction. It's about the size of 3 football fields. That is large. That could cause a huge amount of destruction - true - depending where it hit and the angle at which it hit. However, it would not be an Earth-ending event. At least, nothing close to what is depicted in this video.

    • @DavidEmerling79
      @DavidEmerling79 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @user-xj6fm2xj7z I checked, actually, Apophis is about the size of one-and-half football fields. An impact would create tremendous devastation (depending where it hit) but it would not be anywhere near a global event like the much larger asteroid that hit nearly 65 million years ago that wiped out the dinosaurs. That asteroid was over SIX MILES wide. Big difference.
      You are wrong.

    99942 Apophis (/əˈpɒfɪs/, previously known by its provisional designation 2004 MN4) is a near-Earth asteroid that caused a brief period of concern in December 2004 because initial observations indicated a probability of up to 2.7% that it would hit Earth on April 13, 2029. Additional observations provided improved predictions that eliminated the possibility of an impact on Earth or the Moon in 2029. However, until 2006, a possibility remained that during the 2029 close encounter with Earth, Apophis would pass through a gravitational keyhole, a small region no more than about 0.5 mile wide, or 0.8 km[8][9] that would set up a future impact exactly seven years later on April 13, 2036. This possibility kept it at Level 1 on the Torino impact hazard scale until August 2006, when the probability that Apophis would pass through the keyhole was determined to be very small. By 2008, the keyhole had been determined to be less than 1 km wide.[8] During the short time when it had been of greatest concern, Apophis set the record for highest rating on the Torino scale, reaching level 4 on 27 December 2004.[10] As of 2014, the diameter of Apophis is estimated to be approximately 370 metres (1,210 ft).[3] Preliminary observations by Goldstone radar in January 2013 effectively ruled out the possibility of an Earth impact by Apophis in 2036.[11] By May 6, 2013 (April 15, 2013 observation arc), the probability of an impact on April 13, 2036 had been eliminated.[3] Using observations through February 26, 2014, the odds of an impact on April 12, 2068, as calculated by the JPL Sentry risk table are 1 in 150,000.[3] As of March 2018[update], there were seven asteroids with a more notable cumulative Palermo Technical Impact Hazard Scale than Apophis.[12] On average, one asteroid the size of Apophis (370 metres) can be expected to impact Earth about every 80,000 years.[13]

    This effect is awesome! Thankfully it's not for real or we all would be screwed. This looks more like a 200 mile wide asteroid and this kind of impact would literally turn the Earth into Venus. Apophis is 1200 feet, the size of a skyscraper and it would cause a lot of regional damage but it wouldn't really have any worldwide effects. It would have to be at least a half mile to a mile wide to cause climate change.

      Dust would be a serious issue if it were 1 km or more across. However, Apophis is only about 400 meters, thus only about 1/15th the mass of a 1 km object. Furthermore, projections show that if Apophis hit the Earth, it would most likely strike the Pacific Ocean a few hundred kilometers West of Mexico. Most Eastern coastal cities (from South America up to Alaska) would be destroyed. Good thing projections now show chance of collision as less than 1 in 250,000.

    Depends on how fast they're going. A stony meteoroid about 30 feet across and moving at about 10 km a second can airburst with the force of a 20 kiloton nuke.The Tunguska comet was about 200 feet across, 2/3 the size of a football field, and exploded with the force of a 12 megaton bomb. You'd be trading one giant impact for multiple smaller impacts that still each have the capacity to destroy a city. The resulting effects would be nearly indistinguishable from a nuclear war.

That's when we'll have some problems.It doesn't matter if it's the size of a city or a state, it'll cause much damage. Of course, it also depends where on the planet it strikes. Cool video and effects, but it wont happen like that. In all reality Apophis is under a quarter of a mile wide and if it hits the Earth, at the very most, it will release about 750 megatons of energy. That's a pretty big punch, and yes, alot of people will die, but the world wont end and I highly doubt it even triggers any kind of impact winter. So that's the good news. This vid looks like what the Chicxulub impact would have probably looked like. Actually this vid looks like it was worst than that because it appears that all life died out in this video. At least with Chicxulub there were survivors to continue the evolutionary transition.

      750 megatons are you crazy? The Tsar Bomba with 50 megatons caused a total destruction radius of 30km but there were several damages in a 100 km radius with third degree burnings so 750 megatons is juste insanely massive (like if we juste multiply things there could be a 450 km radius where everything is completely destroyed and a radius of 1.500 km where everyone will die and i don't know if that's how you calculate an equivalent between power and those radiuses but i think it could be) An asteroid that size would cause something every smaller than Hiroshima

The after effects will lead to global cooling of 0,5 to 1 degrees celcius for the next 10-20 years because of a dust layer blocking out sunlight. RISK:
    99942 Apophis (/əˈpɒfɪs/, previously known by its provisional designation 2004 MN4) is a near-Earth asteroid that caused a brief period of concern in December 2004 because initial observations indicated a probability of up to 2.7% that it would hit Earth on April 13, 2029. Additional observations provided improved predictions that eliminated the possibility of an impact on Earth or the Moon in 2029. However, until 2006, a possibility remained that during the 2029 close encounter with Earth, Apophis would pass through a gravitational keyhole, a small region no more than about 965 kilometres (600 miles) wide,[8][9] that would set up a future impact exactly seven years later, on April 13, 2036. This possibility kept it at Level 1 on the Torino impact hazard scale until August 2006, when the probability that Apophis would pass through the keyhole was determined to be very small. By 2008, the keyhole had been determined to be less than 1 km wide.[8] During the short time when it had been of greatest concern, Apophis set the record for highest rating on the Torino scale, reaching level 4.[10]
    The diameter of Apophis is, as of the most recent 2013 observations, approximately 325 metres (1,066 ft).[2] Preliminary observations by Goldstone radar in January 2013 effectively ruled out the possibility of an Earth impact by Apophis in 2036.[11] By May 6, 2013 (April 15, 2013 observation arc), the probability of an impact on April 13, 2036 had been eliminated.[3] As of October 8, 2014, using observations through February 26, 2014, the odds of an impact on April 12, 2068, as calculated by the JPL Sentry risk table is 1 in 149,000.[3] As of December 2016, of objects not recently observed, there were about five asteroids with a more notable Palermo Technical Impact Hazard Scale than Apophis.[12] On average, an asteroid the size of Apophis (325 metres) can be expected to impact Earth about every 80,000 years.[13]
    IMPACT:
    The Sentry Risk Table estimates that Apophis would make atmospheric entry with 750 megatons of kinetic energy.[3] The impacts that created Meteor Crater or the Tunguska event are estimated to be in the 3-10 megaton range.[47] The 1883 eruption of Krakatoa was the equivalent of roughly 200 megatons and the biggest hydrogen bomb ever exploded, the Tsar Bomba, was around 57 megatons. In comparison, the Chicxulub impact has been estimated to have released about as much energy as 100,000,000 megatons (100 teratons).
    The B612 foundation produced a paper for the 2007 Planetary Defense Conference with a calculated path of risk for 2036 before it was ruled out in 2013.
    The exact effects of any impact would vary based on the asteroid's composition, and the location and angle of impact. Any impact would be extremely detrimental to an area of thousands of square kilometres, but would be unlikely to have long-lasting global effects, such as the initiation of an impact winter.[citation needed] Assuming Apophis is a 325-metre-wide (1,066 ft) stony asteroid, if it were to impact into sedimentary rock, Apophis would create a 4.3-kilometre (14,000 ft) impact crater.[13]
    In 2008, the B612 Foundation made estimates of Apophis's path if a 2036 Earth impact were to occur, as part of an effort to develop viable deflection strategies.[48] The result was a narrow corridor a few kilometres wide, called the "path of risk", extending across southern Russia, across the north Pacific (relatively close to the coastlines of California and Mexico), then right between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, crossing northern Colombia and Venezuela, ending in the Atlantic, just before reaching Africa.[49] Using the computer simulation tool NEOSim, it was estimated that the hypothetical impact of Apophis in countries such as Colombia and Venezuela, which were in the path of risk, could have more than 10 million casualties.[50] However, the exact location of the impact would be known weeks or even months in advance, allowing any nearby inhabited areas to be completely evacuated and significantly decreasing the potential loss of life and property. A deep-water impact in the Atlantic or Pacific oceans would produce an incoherent short-range tsunami with a potential destructive radius (inundation height of >2 m) of roughly 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) for the most of North America, Brazil and Africa, 3,000 kilometres (1,900 mi) for Japan and 4,500 kilometres (2,800 mi) for some areas in Hawaii.[51

    Based upon the observed brightness, Apophis's diameter was initially estimated at 450 metres (1,480 ft); a more refined estimate based on spectroscopic observations at NASA's Infrared Telescope Facility in Hawaii by Binzel, Rivkin, Bus, and Tokunaga (2005) is 350 metres (1,150 ft). NASA's impact risk page lists the diameter at 330 metres (1,080 ft) and lists a mass of 4×1010 kg based on an assumed density of 2.6 g/cm3.[3] The mass estimate is more approximate than the diameter estimate, but should be accurate to within a factor of three.[3]
    During the 2029 approach, Apophis's brightness will peak at magnitude 3.4,[19] with a maximum angular speed of 42° per hour. The maximum apparent angular diameter will be ~2 arcseconds, so that it will be barely resolved by ground-based telescopes not equipped with adaptive optics.

    There's no way it would cause such destruction. It's still as powerful as several nukes, but remember that it's 30 times smaller than Chicxulub asteroid 65 millions years ago, and is tens of thousands times lighter.

    The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

    So the heat from the explosion will hug the globe. Is the heat supposed to attach itself to the earth and not dissipate as it circumvents physics or ignores the laws of thermodynamics? Interesting fantasy.

    • @powerblo5019

      The proof of diseducation of kids of Earth. As if you wouldn't be killed by a RPG, a knife flying towards you or a baseball launched towards you at 300 kms per second. Also, it's not the impact that kills Earth, dust clounds and climate changes slowly feed away on Earth's life source. Read books, then make statements like this. If you're trolling, well same level of trash.

    • @MasterZacQwerty
      @MasterZacQwerty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      do u even know that when still earth was getting created(what i mean when our sun exploded and release many mass that created planets) the moon is bigger than that stupid asteroid! and moon crashed into earth too many quantillion or billions of years ago!

    • @powerblo5019
      @powerblo5019 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MelonialZac Luay Really. You call that a comeback? All your words are baloney, from opinion to proof. "The Moon crashed..." That is just a "theory with no proof", thus just a novel. Even if it was true, then what is the bright, white thing in the sky that glows every night? The Moon didn't crash in, an asteroid way smaller did, the impact was so big it created tons of debris and it came together to form the Moon. Even a tiny, unnoticeable asteroid can create enough debris to form a Moon.
      Next, the Earth being destroyed doesn't necessarily need to shatter into pieces, like your statements. If the whole ecosystems dies off and Earth is barren, so much for Goldilock.
      I don't know where you got this scrutiny from, but make sense, then go to the comment section.

    • @MasterZacQwerty
      @MasterZacQwerty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only beleive in one thing... all things in bible and all theories exist but theres 1 more thing not all theory are correct so i still beleive in it but u just neeed something to do it... all i can say align stuff together like ur puttting 2 theory to make a sensible chain of history(ehh sorry in this thing just want u to tell whats in my whole mind)

    • @nullifiedrisks
      @nullifiedrisks 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Hanse Kim He was actually right. Over 100 billion years ago, that did happen when the earth was still forming.
      Disgust: But I have to dumb it down to your level...
      Anger: ....
      Disgust: Let me try speaking moron; DUHH...
      Anger: *gets really angry*
      And that's true. An asteroid really DID crash into Earth and formed the Moon. If that didn't happen, God would've had to create the moon HIMSELF.
