  • Driving in the heavy rain from the Darwin International Airport down Bagot Road.Even though we are copping these heavy storms almost daily the Weather Bureau assures us its not actually the Monsoon. Perhaps Friday as quite a few low pressure systems are developing across the north of Australia. I am experienced at driving my car in heavy rain but sometimes the smart thing to do is just pull off the road until the storm eases.

Thanks for the update. Sometimes think I would love to return to Darwin to live. The wet season is hard but there is something about it.

Darwin still has that particular vibe. After 40 years the wet season can still be challenging. I would,nt live any where else tho.

Its the constant high humidity. Can be quite draining.

First time visiting Darwin late May. Will everything be calmer by then?

Yes Philip, around mid April we feel the dry season coming on.

@@philipg6463 i visited in may 2019. Not many tourists. The wave pool was not operated that morning. No tickets sold. But september, wow. The number of people walking up the Smith Street Mall to the Wave pool with beach towels was amazing. Enjoy.
